This paper investigates a high-performance strategy for speed sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Two speed sensorless controls using back-EMF and reactive power are analyzed in this paper, and these two speed estimations are appropriately applied according to the steady and transient states for a high-performance sensorless control. The proposed sensorless control algorithm has a better performance compared to the conventional control algorithms.

When the available sample is multiply type-II censored, the maximum likelihood estimators of the location and scale parameters of two- parameter exponential distribution do not exist explicitly. In this case, we propose several approximate maximum likelihood estimators by approximating the likelihood equations appropriately. We present an example to illustrate these estimation methods.

This paper presents the self-commissioning for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor. The proposed strategy executes three tests with a standard inverter drive system. To do this, synchronous d-q axes currents are appropriately controlled for each test. From the three tests, armature resistance, armature inductance, equivalent iron loss resistance, and emf coefficient are identified automatically. The validity of the proposed strategy is confirmed by experimental results.

This paper deals with the design of heat dissipation system using the forced air cooling method. It suggests the method of appropriately dividing the whole thermodynamic system into analytical subsystems and also presents the correspondent analytic or experimental equations to subsystems. The experimental results on the designed thermodynamic system for 400kw 1GBT inverter show the validity of the proposed design method in the steady state.

In this paper, we consider approximation of eigenelements of a two dimensional compact integral operator with a smooth kernel by discrete collocation and iterated discrete collocation methods. By choosing numerical quadrature appropriately, we obtain convergence rates for gap between the spectral subspaces, and also we obtain superconvergence rates for eigenvalues and iterated eigenvectors. We then apply Richardson extrapolation to obtain further improved error bounds for the eigenvalues. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate theoretical estimates.

This study aims at improving the channel of Pudo-sudo in Chinhae-Man according to the development project of the port of Masan, by investigating the design criteria of harbour facilities for the maximum sized ship. The new deep-water route was proposed and according to it the present separation scheme was adjusted appropriately. The width of the deep-water route is suggested to be 350m and would be wide enough for the 30,000 DWT container ship to go through However, the proposed channel will be tested and validated by the shiphandling simulator.

The common accumulator was designed for solving the maldistribution problem of oil at the air conditioning system with two compressors. The oil level inside two compressors was visualized by using a common accumulator on the various operating conditions. As a result of the visualization, oil distribution inside two compressors was achieved appropriately according to the capacity of each compressor. Uniform distribution of oil was also accomplished at on and off operation condition.

Evaluation method of seismic performance has mainly used elastic spectrum analysis. This method has simplicity of analysis but deficiency of accuracy. And evaluation method of seismic performance using inelastic dynamic analysis reflects accurately inelasticity of material but hardly reflects site effects. This study suggested evaluation scheme of seismic performance for bridge structure using capacity spectrum method applied inelastic static analysis and standard design response spectrum of Korea Standard Specification for Highway Bridge. Two results, capacity spectrum method and inelastic dynamic analysis method, are very similar. As a result, this study appropriately supply both simplicity of analysis and accuracy of result.

MOR test and concentric ring test were performed to evaluate the failure probability of sin/hip Si3N4 under uniaxial and biaxial stress state, respectively. Their failure probabilities were analized with KARA program based on Weibull PIA model and Batdorf model with 5 criteria, and they were compared with experiments. PIA model is in best accordance with experiments in higher fracture strength regions, especially for Pf 0.3. But in lower fracture strength region, none of the models predicts the failure probabilities appropriately.

Wilms Tumor is a great therapeutic success story within pediatric oncology. Therefore, accurate initial staging is needed to assess tumor spread and to assign patients appropriately to the different risk branches. However, it is recognized that FDG-PET can provide useful information about tumor and has better accuracy than CT and MRI for staging, but its role in Wilms tumor is unclear. According to clinical research data, FDG PET may be useful for the management of selected patients with Wilms tumors.
