The maximum specific gravity of asphaltic concrete can be calculated based on the effective specific gravity of aggregates and the specific gravity of asphalt cement. The maximum specific gravity is sometimes obtained based on the apparent specific gravity of aggregates and specific gravity of asphalt concrete. However, the apparent specific gravity is in general greater than the effective specific gravity for most aggregates. This study showed, by comparing the results obtained based on two specific gravities, that application of the apparent specific gravity instead of the effective specific gravity resulted in discrepancies in the calculated values of effective asphalt content, air void and maximum density.

This study aims to analyze whether the performance of the fire extinguisher meets the criteria for the apparent specific gravity property test by calculating the change in internal pressure and the use period of the fire extinguisher as a new one with 5 years, recycled one with 5 years, a new one with 10 years, and a new one with 13 years, respectively. As a result of the experiment, when the internal pressure of the fire extinguisher was 0%, the first, second, and third arithmetic mean analysis of the dry chemical extinguisher according to the use period was found to be condemned. When the internal pressure of the fire extinguisher was 50%, it was measured as 130 ml in sample 12-08-new and analyzed as unsuitable. Also, sample 09-09-new of a new dry chemical extinguisher with 13 elapsed years measured 145ml, which was found inappropriate. All other dry chemical extinguishers were analyzed to be suitable. All were noted suitable when having normal internal pressure of the fire extinguisher, except for sample 09-06 of a new dry chemical extinguisher with 13 elapsed years, which was determined to be unsuitable caused by measuring as 131 ml for experimental value. As a result of experiments, some of the apparent specific gravity tests of dry chemical extinguishers from 10 years to 13 years have found that they are unsuitable for the performance of the fire extinguishers due to the massive phenomenon. Accordingly, it is necessary to reduce the endurance period of dry chemical extinguishers from 10 years to 7 years.
The effect of quartz which exists in clays, especially in kaolin used for the production of chamotte sagger, on the strength of refractory was examined. In this study, a mixture of chamotte 50%, kaolin 25%, plastic clay 25% in ternary component system was selected as a batch composition. To this mixture 1%, 3% and 5% of feldspar and sericite were added respectively. The plastic clay used here was separated under 170 mesh by dry process. Feldspar and sericite were separated under 325 mesh by dry process. Feldspar and sericite were separated under 325 mesh by dry process. In order to change the particle size and the content of quartz, the kaolin was separated under 60, 115, 170 and 325 mesh by wet process, substituted quartz for coarse parts of it. Chamotte was classified into three grades, coarse (5-10mesh): medium (10-20mesh): fine(20-115mesh) and the ratio was 1:1:1. Samples were formed in 0.8xIx10cm size with 12.5% water at 160kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ pressure, and fired at 130$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. The fired samples were ivnestigated by means of x-ray diffraction analysis and microscopic observation, and the physical properties of them were also examined, such as firing shrinkage, apparent specific gravity and bulk specific gravity, apparent porosity, water absorption and modulus of rupture. The obtained results are as follows: 1. When screened kaolin with low content of quartz was added to fixed chamotte-plastic clay system, the sample lowered modulus of rupture and increased apparent porosity as the size of kaolin became finer. 2. When kaolin under 325 mesh with 7.2-15.81% quartz between 60-325 mesh was added to fixed chamotte-plastic clay system, the sample had higher apparent porosity and lower modulus of ruputure as the size and the amount of quartz became larger. 3. The addition of feldspar and sericite to chamotte-plastic clay system improved apparent porosity and modulus of rupture. The effect of feldspar was better when quartz content was low, although that of sericite was better than quartz content was high.

The purpose of this study is to develop a pipe type soil sampler that can easily collect soil cross section servey and soil samples to conduct ecological environment surveys while minimizing ecological disturbance in the area subject to soil survey. Furthermore, this study develop the exponential type estimation specific weight formula (ESWF) that uses pipe type soil sampler to easily carry out soil cross section survey and soil sample while estimating the specific weight of the area using water content and soil sample length variation ratio (SLVRs) and to obtain apparent specific gravity, hardness, and max. porosity which are used as growth of corps and ecological environment index. The calibration results of ESWF showed a high degree of significance, with NSE for actual specific weight (γ0) and calibration estimation specific weight (γec) 0.95, R2 for 0.954, and RMSE for 0.051. The verification results of ESWF showed a high significance, with NSE for actual specific weight (γ0) and verification estimation specific weight (γev) 0.881, R2 for 0.978, and RMSE for 0.055.
The objective of this paper is to investigate the gravity effect on the shape characters of natural supercavity. A finite difference solver along with an implicit, dual time, preconditioned, three-dimensional algorithm has been used to solve the two-phase Navier Stokes equations. Numerical solutions were performed for natural supercavitating flow past a disk for different cavitation and Froud numbers. The numerical results were compared with corresponding analytical results in quantitative manner and it was found that the shape of supercavity was reasonably predicted Numerical results indicated that the gravity effect can induce the asymmetry of supercavity. The asymmetry was apparent when the froud number was smaller so that for constant cavitation number when we reduced the froud number the opt of the axis of supercavity increased. Moreover, for specific froud number a decrease in cavitation number resulted in an increase in the offset of the supercavity Numerical results revealed that for froud number greater than 25 the gravity effect is negligible.
To improve the vulnerable point and the mechanical property of the existing lightweight foamed concrete, this study was intend to manufacture the lightweight foamed concrete with wasted expanded poly-styrene, examinate and analyze the mechanical property of its. The experiment was being processed with mixing the wasted expanded poly-styrene maximum 40 % by stages and which was mainly basis on the practical mixture. The results of the experiment are following. The flow value is most affected by the mixtured rate of the wasted expanded poly-styrene. The more the mixtured ratio, the less the flow value and the more the more the unit quantity of cement and the W/C, the more the flow value. The apparent specific gravity indicated 0.31∼0.54 and which is seemed to be mainly included in the 0.4 degree and 0.5 degree that are regulated in the KS F 4039. The more the mixtured wasted poly-styrene ratio, the less the apparent specific gravity. The absorbing ratio which was depend on the mixture condition indicated 11 ∼46% and the more the mixtured ratio of the wasted expanded poly-styrene, the less the absorbing ratio remarkably. The compressive strength of the lightweight foamed concrete had a tendency to increase as the mixtured ratio of the wasted poly-styrene, the ratio quantity of cement and the apparent specific gravity increasing but as the ratio of bubble decreasing. The W/C affected little.
Volcanic rocks in Jeju island show vesicular structure caused by various environmental factors, and indicate the differences in geological and mechanical characteristics from region to region. Previous studies on the volcanic rocks in Jeju island have been actively conducted on geological and chemical properties in terms of geophysics and geology and on physical and mechanical properties in terms of engineering. But comprehensive comparative analysis on physical and mechanical properties of volcanic rocks in Jeju island is not conducted. In this study, the physical and mechanical properties of volcanic rocks in Jeju island were compared and analyzed comprehensively through the existing research papers and reports about volcanic rocks in Jeju island. As a result, it was found that the relationship between absorption (porosity) and apparent specific gravity is commonly linear and could be represented as two different linear approximations. In addition, it was found that the relationship between P-wave velocity and S-wave velocity and the relationship between absorption (porosity) and uniaxial compressive strength could be classified more clearly, considering two different linear relationships in absorption (porosity) and apparent specific gravity.

Recently , polymer concrete has been widely used in the construction industry because of its quick setting, high strength, excellect adhesion, watertightness and chemical resistance compared to ordinary cement concrete. Its application is also increased. In this paper, lightweight polymer mortars using unsaturated polyester resin and lightweight aggregate are prepared with various mix proportations, and tested for slump working life, apparent specific gravity , flexural and compressive strengths. As a result, the slump and working life can be controlled and thier flexural and compressive strengths are 9.7 to 22.0 MPa , and 23.0 to 100.8 MPa respectively at apparent specific gravities of 0.86 to 1.73.
The ointment, had discovered and used from the ancient, have not ever defined to qualitity as the hardness concerned with the absorned With the absorption of the effect of durg through the skin. Auther, for the first time, suggest the apparent logarithmic hardness against the penetration of ointment registered on the pharmacopeia of the Republic of Korea, the results are as the followings. 1. The speciality of this apparent logarithmic hardness ie in proportion for the solidity on the contrary to the penetration of oiniment, and the distribution range of it are between 1.68 to 3.53 for their ointments examined. 2. The specific gravity of the verious ointments according to the apparent logarithmic hardness may be ignore on the calculaiotn, the mean valve of the samples was 2.9303. 3. The determination of apparent logarithmic hardness(H) by the penetration method follows the under equation. $H=log_{10}({\frac{P-0.545h^3}{0.855h^2}})$ where, the h is the penetrate length described centimeter, and p is the weight of the cone.
Three kinds of specimen, consisting of the graded pyrophyllite particles alone, a substituent of 8 percent fire clay for the finer portion ($F_2$) of it, and 0.8 percent inorganic binder-added composite were prepared under the following conditions respectively; moisture content=4.5~5.0%, forming pressure=250kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and sintering temperature=1, 000~1, 30$0^{\circ}C$. The various properties such as modulus of rupture, apparent porosity, bulk specific gravity, pore size and pore distributiion were measured in order to collaborate with sintering phenomena. The results obtained are as follows: (1) Apparent porosity isgradually decreased with rising the sintering temperature to 1, 25$0^{\circ}C$. (2) The binder-added specimen showed the lowest value in porosity. (3) The optimum sintering temperature of specimens was considered to be 1, 25$0^{\circ}C$. (4) The wider differences between pore volumes of specimens could be obtained by method of mercurypenetration porosimeter than by the conventional method for porosity.
