The purpose of this study wsa to necessitate auricular acupressure therapy as an independent nursing intervention on cancer paitents by confirming its effectiveness. Method: The experimental study was unequivalently controlled pre-post measure study. The subjects were 40 cancer patients who were hospitalized in K medical center in Seoul. The experimental group (20) and the control group (20) were randomly assigned. As measured tools, Spielberger's State-trait Anxiety (1976) measured tool by Kim's transplation (1978). The auricular acupressure therapy was applied to experimental group, and the pre-post measure was performed to both group. The data was analyzed by using SPSS computer program that included descriptive statistics, 2-test, and t-test. Result: 1) The experimental group with the auricular acupressure therapy showed lower trait anxiety scores in comparison with the control group (t= 8.036, p=.000). 2) The experimental group which applied the auricular acupressure therapy showed lower state anxiety scores in comparison with the control group (t= 19.616, p=.000). This result showed that cancer patients with the auricular acupressure therapy applied cancer patients decreased state anxiety and trait anxiety. Therefore , effectiveness of the auricular acupressure therapy was confirmed through this study. Conclusion: According to the result, anxiety of cancer pateint should be decreased and controlled by the auricular acupressure therapy as independent nursung intervension. In addition, the auricular acupressure therapy will provide effective independent nursing intervention that will decrease anxiety on patient with other disease and will improve quality of their lives.
The results of protection service could be different according to, first, the potential ability of protection personnel, second, the training degree and efficiency. Namely, it depends on how to control one's anxiety and tension In order to overcome the unsettled mental state and maximize the effect of the service, the level of anxiety of personnel should be measured and the cause of the anxiety should be found. And then complete training having the proper method of alleviating anxiety could be possible. When the method of alleviating anxiety is applied, one should attend the training with a positive mind to be able to perform one's duty successfully. And by adapting the same methode and procedure used to protection service to both mental process and every situation in the condition that strained muscles relax and all one's energies are concentrated, the same methods for reducing anxiety could be used at the same time. The effect of individual method might be varied according to the personal difference, so no one can say this or that method is more efficient than others. But what is important is to choose one method and adapt it which is most proper to oneself. To use the method of reducing anxiety efficiently needs a lot of time, so one should attend the training with patience.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the Quality of Life (QOL) and related factors in the patients with dizziness. Methods: The data were collected between March and June 2008 for 200 individuals who agreed to participate in the study. Uncertainty (Uncertainty in illness scale), anxiety, depression (Hospital anxiety & depression scale) and Vestibular disability activities of daily living (Vestibular disability-activities of daily living [ADL] scale) as well as QOL (Dizziness Handicap Inventory) were measured. Results: The mean QOL score was 37.5 (${\pm}23.0$). Monthly income, etiology of, frequency of, and total duration of dizziness were the significant factors related to QOL in these patients. Having had a fall, anxiety, depression, uncertainty and vestibular disability in daily living were also significant factors influencing QOL. In multiple regression analysis, anxiety, vestibular disability-ADL, falls, total duration of symptoms, uncertainty, and etiology of dizziness explained 41% of variance of QOL. Conclusion: The level of QOL in our patients was moderate as compared to those in previous studies. Anxiety and vestibular disability were the most important factors predicting low QOL. Use of nursing intervention programs designed to relieve these factors should also result in improving the QOL in the patients with dizziness.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between anxiety, depression, low anterior resection syndrome, and quality of life after lower anterior resection for rectal cancer. Methods: The participants of this study were 105 rectal cancer patients who visited the outpatient department of a hospital in Seoul for treatment or follow-up consultations. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires and clinical records. To measure the variables, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Low Anterior Resection Syndrome Score, and Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 were utilized. Data were subsequently analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. Results: Low anterior resection syndrome was more severe among patients whose cancer was located closer to the anus, and had a greater range of resection in those who received neoadjuvant treatment. When anxiety, depression, and low anterior resection syndrome score were higher, quality of life scores were lower. Conclusion: These results suggest that low anterior resection syndrome may negatively impact quality of life. Therefore, it is necessary to provide patients with symptom management support/assistance through evidence-based nursing interventions, and evaluations of low anterior resection syndrome to relieve anxiety and depression, and thus enhance quality of life.
Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between allergic diseases, general anxiety disorder, and depressive symptoms among Korean adolescents. Methods: A secondary analysis was conducted on the findings of the 18th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey (2022). The study included 51,850 adolescents and analyzed the relationships among allergic diseases, general anxiety disorder, and depressive symptoms using complex samples logistic regression analysis. Results: Among the Korean adolescents, 12.7% experienced general anxiety disorder, while 28.7% experienced depressive symptoms. The prevalence of allergic diseases was 5.7% for asthma, 36.3% for allergic rhinitis, and 22.2% for atopic dermatitis. General anxiety disorder was associated with asthma and allergic rhinitis but not atopic dermatitis. Depressive symptoms were associated asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis. Conclusion: Examining the correlation among allergic diseases, general anxiety disorder, and depressive symptoms in adolescents underscores the need for implementing suitable strategies. Moreover, when addressing general anxiety disorder and depressive symptoms in adolescents, it becomes crucial to consider the presence of allergic diseases.
The major purpose of this study was to compare the state anxiety of surgical patients by sex (male/female), area of operation (sex-organ/non sex-organ), and family planning (having the plan of child-bearing/having no plan of child-bearing). One hundred sixty patients who were to get surgical operation were equally divided into eight groups resulted from combination of variables of sex, area of operation, and family planning, The state anxiety of surgical patients was measured in terms of the discrepancy score between the state anxiety score on the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) administered at a day before operation and the trait anxiety score on it which was administered at a day before discharge. In order to test statistically the differences among meant scores of the state anxiety obtained by eight groups, multiple comparisons were carried out by Scheffe method. The results of this study led to the conclusions that, (1) there was no significant sex difference in the state anxiety of surgical patients, when the area of operation and the family planning variables were disregarded, (2) the state anxiety of patients who were to get operation of their sex-organ was significantly higher than that of patients who were to get operation on the parts other than their sex-organ, when variables of the sex and the family planning were not taken into account, (3) there was no significant sex difference in the state anxiety of patients who were to Bet operation on the parts other than their sex-organ, when the family planning variable was disregarded, (4) the state anxiety of female patients who were to get operation on their sex-organ was significantly higher than the stale anxiety of male patients who were to get operation on their sex-organ, when the family planning variable was not taken into account.

There was significant relation between experimental group and control group. (p<0.01) 3. There was relation of state-Anxiety by education Level: Experimental group (p<0.05) control group (p<0.05) religion : only control group (p<0.05)economic state : only control group (p<0.05) The people who encouraged hysterectomy: Experimental group (p<0.05) control group (p<0.0001) 4. The cause of preoperative anxiety about hysterectomy were as follows: 1) destruction of body image(=loss of uterus) 2) husband's attitude 3) Expactation that hysterectomy will adversely affect sexual relation 5. Among the cause of Anxiety, R²for state-Anxiety were as follows: 1) economic state 17.3% 2) deatch 21.6% 3) Expactation that hysterectomy will adversely affect sexual relation 24.5%.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to examine the effects of death anxiety and meaning of life on somatization of grandparents raising grandchildren. Methods: A convenience sample of 92 elderly grandparents raising grandchildren was recruited. The study instrument for death anxiety was the 5-point 15 items scale designed by Templer and translated by Ko, Choi, & Lee and for meaning of life, the 7-point 10-items scale by Steger, Frazier, Oishi & Kaler and translated by Won, Kim & Kwon. For somatization, the 5-point 12 items scale designed by Derogatis and translated by Kim, Kim & Won was used. Collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation and regression using the SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Average scores were 3.55 for death anxiety, 3.43 for meaning of life, and 2.74 for somatization. Death anxiety had the highest positive correlation with somatization. Meaning of life was negatively correlated with death anxiety and somatization. Death anxiety and health status were shown to influence somatization but meaning of life was not shown to influence somatization. Conclusion: The research results indicate that death anxiety and health status influence somatization in grandparents raising grandchildren. These results also provide basic information on the importance of nursing interventions in which the variables influencing somatization in grandparents raising grandchildren are considered.

Purpose: This cross-sectional study was done to compare factors influencing young adolescents' aggression according to family structure. Methods: Participants were 680 young adolescents aged 11 to 15 years (113 in single father families, 136 in single mother families, 49 in grandparent families, and 382 in both-parent families). All measures were self-administered. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program and factors affecting young adolescents' aggression were analyzed by stepwise multiple regression. Results: Levels of young adolescents' aggression and all variables were significantly different among the four family structure groups. Factors influencing young adolescents' aggression were also different according to these 4 groups. For single father families, depression-anxiety and family hardiness significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.37, p<.001). For single mother families, depression-anxiety, gender, and friends' support significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.58, p<.001). For grandparent families, depression-anxiety and family support significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.58, p<.001). For both-parent families, depression-anxiety, family hardiness, and friends' support significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.48, p<.001). Conclusion: Nurses working with young adolescents should consider family structure-specific factors influencing aggression in this population.
