Natural Standard Methodology를 이용한 녹즙재료의 항암효과에 대한 근거 및 권고수준에 대한 연구 (Study for Level of Evidence and Recommendation of Anticancer Effect for the Materials of Green Vegetable Juice by Using Natural Standard Methodology)

  • Objective : We designed this study to analyse the anti-cancer effects of materials of green vegetable juice by using the natural standard methodology and apply the results to new studying and evaluating methods. Methods : We investigated the main stream of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), the methodology of natural standard, guideline in CAM, and concrete 15 green vegetable juice in cancer therapy. Results : There are 15 graded materials of green vegetable juice that associated with cancer in natural standard contents. Most of them get grade C, unclear or conflicting scientific evidence. Conclusion : Natural Standard aims to provide high-quality, reliable information about CAM therapies to clinicians, patients, and healthcare institutions. We have to acquire more reliable evidence in future.

Design of a High Dynamic-Range RF ASIC for Anti-jamming GNSS Receiver

  • Global Positioning System (GPS) is used in various fields such as communications systems, transportation systems, e-commerce, power plant systems, and up to various military weapons systems recently. However, GPS receiver is vulnerable to jamming signals as the GPS signals come from the satellites located at approximately 20,000 km above the earth. For this reason, various anti-jamming techniques have been developed for military application systems especially and it is also required for commercial application systems nowadays. In this paper, we proposed a dual-channel Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) RF ASIC for digital pre-correlation anti-jam technique. It not only covers all GNSS frequency bands, but is integrated low-gain/attenuation mode in low-noise amplifier (LNA) without influencing in/out matching and 14-bit analogdigital converter (ADC) to have a high dynamic range. With the aid of digital processing, jamming to signal ratio is improved to 77 dB from 42 dB with proposed receiver. RF ASIC for anti-jam is fabricated on a 0.18-μm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology and consumes 1.16 W with 2.1 V (low-dropout; LDO) power supply. And the performance is evaluated by a kind of test hardware using the designed RF ASIC.

A Potent Anti-Complementary Acylated Sterol Glucoside from Orostachys japonicus

  • In order to isolate substances that inhibit the hemolytic activity of human serum against eryth-rocytes, we have evaluated whole plants of the Orostachys japonicus species with regard to its anti-complement activity, and have identified its active principles following activity-guided isolation. A methanol extract of the O. japonicus, as well as its n-hexane soluble fraction, exhibited significant anti-complement activity on the complement system, which was expressed as total hemolytic activity. A bioassay-guided chromatographic separation of the constituents resulted in the isolation of three known compounds 1-3 from the active n-hexane fraction. The structure of these compounds were analyzed, and they were identified as hydroxyhopanone (1), $\beta-sitosteryl-3-O-\beta-D-glucopyranosyl-6'-O-palmitate$ (2), and $\beta-sitosteryl-3-O-\beta-D-glucopyranoside$ (3), respectively. Of these compounds, compound 2 exhibited potent anti-complement activity $(IC_{50}=1.0\pm0.1{\mu}M)$ on the classical pathway of the complement, as compared to tiliroside $(IC_{50}=76.5\pm1.1{\mu}M)$, which was used as a positive control. However, compounds 1 and 3 exhibited no activity in this system.

  • Drones are emerging as a new security threat, and the world is working to reduce them. Detection and identification are the most difficult and important parts of the anti-drone systems. Existing detection and identification methods each have their strengths and weaknesses, so complementary operations are required. Detection and identification performance in anti-drone systems can be improved through the use of artificial intelligence. This is because artificial intelligence can quickly analyze differences smaller than humans. There are three ways to utilize artificial intelligence. Through reinforcement learning-based physical control, noise and blur generated when the optical camera tracks the drone may be reduced, and tracking stability may be improved. The latest NeRF algorithm can be used to solve the problem of lack of enemy drone data. It is necessary to build a data network to utilize artificial intelligence. Through this, data can be efficiently collected and managed. In addition, model performance can be improved by regularly generating artificial intelligence learning data.

Interactive Effects of Nutrition Modification and Wet Cupping on Male Patients with Refractory Stable Angina

  • Objectives: Routine therapies cannot control refractory stable angina, leading to a high economic burden and an impaired quality of life. Persian medicine incorporates exceptional attention to lifestyle and nutrition to prevent and treat various diseases. Previous studies have reported the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of wet cupping. The present study aims to determine the effects of nutrition and cupping on refractory stable angina patients. Methods: Forty male patients with refractory stable angina were randomly allocated to four groups, including nutrition modification based on Persian medicine, wet cupping, nutrition modification along with wet cupping, and control. The primary outcomes were the changes in pain score using a visual analog scale and quality of life using the Seattle angina questionnaire. The secondary outcomes were changes in the exercise test and blood pressure. Results: The results of the present study revealed that 30 days of treatment with nutrition modification based on Persian medicine, cupping, and modified nutrition and cupping along with standard treatment for stable angina significantly increased the patient's quality of life and exercise test results while reducing pain, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion: Applying complementary Persian medicine methods such as nutrition modification and cupping along with the classical medical treatments may improve outcomes for refractory stable angina patients.

상이한 재료로 제조된 발효식초 유래 다당의 화학적 특성과 면역증진 활성 (Chemical Characteristics and Immuno-Stimulatory Activity of Polysaccharides from Fermented Vinegars Manufactured with Different Raw Materials)

  • 전통발효식초의 면역증진 활성을 규명하기 위하여 서로 다른 원재료로부터 제조된 국내외산 6종의 발효식초로부터 다당류를 분리하고 이들의 화학 특성과 면역증진 활성에 대해 평가하였다. 6종의 발효식초 유래 조다당 중에서 국내 현미 식초 유래 조다당(KBV-0)과 일본 현미식초 유래 조다당(JBV-0) 및 국내 감식초 유래 조다당(KPV-0)에서 발효식초 대비 높은 수율이 얻어졌으며, in vitro 상에서 대식세포를 활성화하여 우수한 interleukin(IL)-6의 생산 유도 활성을 보여 고 면역활성 다당으로 선별하고 이후의 실험에 사용하였다. 한편 선별된 발효식초 유래 3종의 다당 획분 KBV-0, KPV-0 및 JBV-0는 비특이적 면역계에 있어 중요 역할을 담당하고 있는 보체계에 대하여 모두 농도 의존적으로 높은 항보체 활성을 보였지만 KBV-0와 KPV-0의 경우 $1,000{\mu}g/mL$ 농도에서 각각 $ITCH_{50}$ 62% 및 65%의 활성을 보여 JBV-0에 비해 높은 항보체 활성을 나타냈다. 한편 KBV-0, JBV-0 및 KPV-0는 mouse 복강 macrophage에 대해 특별한 세포독성은 나타내지 않았으며, 대식세포를 자극하여 IL-6, IL-12 및 TNF-${\alpha}$의 생산을 농도 의존적으로 증가시켰다. 하지만 KPV-0의 활성이 각 처리 농도에서 상대적으로 가장 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과로부터 국내산 전통발효식초에는 타 영양성분 외에 특이 다당류를 함유하고 있으며 이들 발효식초 유래 다당이 인체 건강유지에 필수적인 면역기능을 증진시킬 수 있음을 추정하게 하였다.

대복피로부터 항보체 활성다당의 추출, 정제 및 그 특성 (Extraction, purification and properties of anti-complementary polysaccharide from Arecae Pericarpium)

  • 선별과정 중 가장 높은 항보체 활성을 보였던 대복피를 대상으로 활성물질의 특성을 조사하기 위하여 추출 및 정제를 행하였다. 대복피를 열수추출, methanol 환류 및 ethanol 침전을 행한 후, 투석 및 동결건조를 거쳐 활성획분 AC-1을 얻었는 바, 이들은 총당 48.2%, 산성당 14.6%, 단백질 36.8%로 구성되어 있었고 주구성당으로 rhamnose, arabinose, mannose 및 galactose를 함유하고 있었다. 이들은 다시 cetavlon(cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) 처리에 의해 AC-2, AC-3, AC-4로 분획되었으며 특히 AC-2의 경우 활성과 수율면에서 우수 하였다. 이들은 periodate 산화에 의해 활성의 감소를 일으킨 반면 pronase 소화에 의해서는 활성의 변화가 없는 특성을 보여 주었다. 더우기 AC-2는 DEAE-Toyopearl 650C($Cl^-$형) 및 Sephadex G-100을 이용한 연속적인 column chromatography를 통하여 활성이 우수한 AC-2-IIIa와 AC-2-IIIc로 분획되었으며 전자의 경우 rhamnose, mannose, galactose 및 glucose가, 후자의 경우 mannose, galactose 및 glucose가 주구성당이었다. 이들 활성다당들은 gel 여과 및 전기영동 결과, 순수한 물질임이 확인되었으며 이들의 분자량은 각각 120,000 및 15,000 이었다.

감잎(Diospyos kaki L.)으로부터 정제한 보체계 활성화 다당류 (Purified Polysaccharide Activating the Complement System from Leaves of Diospyos kaki L.)

  • 감잎으로부터 항보체 활성물질을 분리정제하기 위해 감잎 (250 g)을 $100^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 동안 열수 추출하고 분자량 10 kDa membrane을 사용하여 농축한 후 ethanol 침전과 methanol 추출을 통해 조다당류(DKC)를 얻었다. 조다당류의 정제는 DEAE-Toyopearl 650C와 Bio-gel P60을 사용하여 실시하였다. 정제된 DKC-1c는 $1000\;{\mu}g/mL$의 농도에서 고전경로를 통해서는 85.4% 활성화시켰고 부경로에서는 65.1% 활성화시켰다. 정제 다당류 DKC-1c는 분자량은 66.6 kDa이고 정제도가 높은 중성다당류로써 주요 구성당은 glucose(29.0 mol.%), arabinose(24.3 mol.%), galactose(16.2 mol.%) 순으로 검출되었다. 면역전기영동을 통하여 확인한 결과 DKC-1c는 C3를 부경로에서도 C3a와 C3b로 활성화시키는 complement activator임이 확인되었다.

Pharmacological Activities of the Mycelial Extract of Cultured Cordyceps sinensis

  • For defining the possibilities of the commercial mass liquid culture of Cordyceps sinensis, the pharmacological activities of mycelia were analyzed. The mycelium of C. sinensis consists of carbohydrate (5.1%) and fat (1.3%), and contains a low content of protein (0.7%) and ash (0.5%), and 92.4% moisture. The molecular sugar ratio of carbohydrate was composed mainly of glucose, mannose (1.0 : 0.9), in addition a small amount of galactose and arabinose (0.2 : 0.1). The cellular materials of mycelia were fractionated into ethylacetate (EA), MeOH (M) and hot-water extract fraction (HW). HW fraction showed the most potent intestinal immune system modulating activity, anti-coagulant activity, and anti-complementary activity, and M fraction had the inhibition activity of radical generation as effective as genistine. These results reveal that the mycelium of liquid cultured C. sinensis showed pharmacological activities and could be used for commercial purpose.

Antimicrobial and Immunomodulatory Effects of Bifidobacterium Strains: A Review

  • Bifidobacterium strains can provide several health benefits, such as antimicrobial and immunomodulatory effects. Some strains inhibit growth or cell adhesion of pathogenic bacteria, including multidrug-resistant bacteria, and their antibacterial activity can be intensified when combined with certain antibiotics. In addition, some strains of bifidobacteria reduce viral infectivity, leading to less epithelial damage of intestinal tissue, lowering the virus shedding titer, and controlling the release of antiviral substances. Furthermore, bifidobacteria can modulate the immune system by increasing immunoglobulins, and inducing or reducing pro- or anti-inflammatory cytokines, respectively. In particular, these anti-inflammatory effects are helpful in the treatment of patients who are already suffering from infection or inflammatory diseases. This review summarizes the antimicrobial effects and mechanisms, and immunomodulatory effects of Bifidobacterium strains, suggesting the potential of bifidobacteria as an alternative or complementary treatment option.
