  • Objective: This study examines the generational characteristics and job perceptions of early childhood teachers from Generations X, M, and Z. Methods: Seventeen teachers were selected based on their career and the types of childcare centers they worked in. Focus group interviews explored their job perceptions, teaching methods, career intentions, and strategies to attract future teachers. Results: The results revealed both positive and negative generational perceptions, with Generation X and M noted for diverse job experiences and Generation Z for digital skills. Individual differences were also observed. All generations reported low job satisfaction due to societal perceptions and environmental changes. Many teachers plan to change jobs. The study suggests utilizing generational strengths for peer support to enhance professional development. Conclusion/Implications: Furthermore, improvements in societal perception and treatment of childcare jobs are needed to attract future teachers. The findings suggest implications for enhanced intergenerational communication and collaboration in the childcare field.

  • The proposal that a sound change is occurring in Korean stops was evidenced in this study through identification experiments on Korean stops. Perceptual weight of acoustic correlates to Korean stop manner contrast [VOT (Voice Onset Time), H1-H2 (amplitude difference between the first and second harmonics), and F0 (Fundamental frequency)] was examined with re-synthesized /$t^ha$/, /ta/, and /$t^*a$/ syllables for younger and older Seoul speakers of Korean. For the identification of the aspirated and lenis stops, F0 cue weight relative to VOT was greater for the younger listeners than the older listeners. For H1-H2 cue weight, the two listener groups were more or less the same. These findings were parallel to the production differences found in the earlier work of the author. Combined with production differences, these perception differences between younger and older generations of Seoul speakers suggested that there are generational differences in the phonetic targets of Korean aspirated and lenis stops and such differences are realized in the perception of the stops.

  • Korean-American and American adolescents' attitudes toward the elderly(OP Scale) and their perception on the generational difference(GN GAP) were compared to find whether there is a difference according to the race. Adolescents' perceived generational gap was considered to be one of the most influential factor affecting their attitudinal differences. Adolescents regardless of face showed a somewhat positive attitudes toward the elderly and they perceived generational gap a little positively. Adolescents' age and sex were found not to be related with their attitude toward the elderly and generational gap. For the Korean-Americans birth-order was negatively related to the generational gap perception. the quality of relationship with grandparents was the crucial factor influencing adolescents' perceptions on generational gap and their attitudes toward the elderly indirectly. Grandparents' health and age affected on the quality of relationship. Additionally adolescents' favorite g andparent was found to be maternal grandmother and their relation style and conflict areas were different according to the race.

  • Many companies are now studying these generational conflict issues and seeking countermeasures. As seen in the recent performance-based pay issue, the MZ generation is boldly showing their intention unlike the previous generation. This study focuses on LX Hausys' education program to overcome the generation gap. As a representative field education program of LXHausys, it is a longevity education program that was developed and operated at the end of 14 years and has been in operation so far. By acknowledging and understanding the generation gap through this educational program, it was possible to see that they could sympathize and accept each other one step further, and that trust in each other was formed on the basis of it. The success factors of the generation empathy program were identified as the willingness to share perceptions between labor and management, participatory education programs, active participation of members, and overcoming generation empathy. Through such education, the organization should continuously raise the issue of generational empathy and allow members to recognize it as an object to overcome. To this end, efforts should be made to overcome generational differences.

  • Purpose: There has been an increasing focus on consumer ethics by researchers and practitioners alike with the former seeking to examine the general discrepancy between ethical attitude, intention and actual behaviour by proposing behavioural measures to understand ethical consumption. Research into the effects of generational cohorts and gender, two fundamental demographic factors that shape the consumer habituated repertoire, on consumer ethics has reported mixed findings. The present study investigates if there are differences in ethical consumer behavior by generational cohorts and by gender in the context of an emerging market - Vietnam. Research design, data and methodology: Data was collected using a quantitative survey (a link to the questionnaire was posted on relevant social media platforms). A total of 539 usable responses was used for ANOVAs and independent t-tests to test the hypotheses. Results: a) There are significant differences in terms of ethical consumer behavior between Gen Z and Gens Y/X, but no difference between Gen X and Gen Y; b) There is no gender difference in ethically minded consumer behavior. Conclusion: For consumer ethics, generational effects may be moderated by macroeconomic conditions, while gender alone as a biological variable may not be a reliable predictor.

Opinions on youth dating permission was gathered from 150 adolescents and their parents. The results were as follows: first, for adolescents there were significant differences of opinion about youth dating permission depending on gender, age, scholastic record, and birth order, but for parents, the difference related to the gender and age of adolescents. Second, the result indicated that adolescents had a greater acceptance of dating permission than their parents, expressing a generational difference. Third, where the scholastic record of subjects was low, where subjects were non-eldest siblings, and where the parents' level of youth dating permission was high, the level of youth dating permission was higher. A main predictor of youth's level of dating permission was the level of the parents about youth dating.

The levels of caregiving burden and inter-generational solidarity were also found to be different according to parents financial capacity and social activities. Second, Both husbands' and wives' marital satisfaction were positively correlated with inter-generational solidarity and negatively with caregiving burden. Finally, results of multiple regression analyses showed that husbands' marital satisfaction was negatively influenced by strain and positively by affectional solidarity after controlling the effect of age, educational level, and parents' social activities. Wives' marital satisfaction was negatively affected by strain resulting from caregiving burden, indicating that the higher the strain, the lower the degree of wives marital satisfaction.

  • This study empirically compared generational differences in responses between baby boomers, Generation X, and Generation Y groups as measured by key variables related to advertisement. The respondents in this study were consumers throughout Korea, with 914 survey questionnaires used for the final analyses. Eight of the original 10 hypotheses were validated and two were rejected. Both baby boomer consumers and Generation Y consumers showed more positive responses to affective advertisements than their Generation X counterparts. Generation Y consumers showed more positive attitudes towards humorous advertisements than their baby boomer and Generation X counterparts. The effect of advertising models on the evaluation of advertisements was greater among Generation Y consumers than their Generation X counterparts. Generation Y consumers showed more positive attitudes towards storytelling-type marketing than their baby boomer and Generation X counterparts. Baby boomer consumers showed more positive attitudes towards symbolic advertisements than their Generation X and Generation Y counterparts. Generation X consumers showed more positive attitudes towards functional advertisements than the baby boomer and Generation Y groups. There were significant differences in attitudes towards two types (symbolic and functional) of advertisements in both baby boomer consumers and Generation X consumers.

  • The Purpose of this study was to explore the generational conflicts around adult children's taking care of elderly parents and grandparents' caring for grand children. The results of this study were as follows. First, the child care responsibility of the parents' generation is much more intense than that of the parent care responsibility of the children's generation. Second, the norm of parent care has changed from being the responsibility of the eldest son to being the responsibility of all of the children, which had led to an increased probability of conflicts between the two generations due to the differences in expectation and reward. Third, the bilateralization of the kinship increases the responsibility of women in taking care of their families, which leads to an increase in conflict among women of different generations. Finally, the generational conflicts related to family care appear across different social classes.
