Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of child abuse, children's peer attachment and self-esteem on children's depression/anxiety. In addition, the mediating role of children's peer attachment and self-esteem between child abuse and children's depression/anxiety was investigated. Methods: Using the data of 396 children in grades 4~6 from the Korean Welfare Panel Study (2015), this study was conducted by applying Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results: The results of this study were as follows. First, child abuse had a direct influence on children's depression/anxiety, and self-esteem. Second, children's self-esteem had a direct influence on depression/anxiety. Third, children's self-esteem had mediating effects on the relationship between child abuse and children's depression/anxiety. Fourth, children's peer relationships had a direct influence on self-esteem. But, children's peer attachment did not have a direct influence on depression/anxiety. The effect of children's peer attachment on their depression/anxiety was partially mediated by children's self-esteem. Conclusion/Implications: In conclusion, child abuse, children's peer attachment and self-esteem have a direct or indirect impact on the depression/anxiety of children.
Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effects of psychosocial interventions on cortisol and immune response in adult patients with cancer. Methods: MEDLINE via PubMed, Cochrane Library CENTRAL, EMBASE, CINAHL and domestic electronic databases were searched. Twenty controlled trials (11 randomized and 9 non-randomized trials) met the inclusion criteria with a total of 862 participants. Methodological quality was assessed using the Cochrane's Risk of Bias for randomized studies and the Risk of Bias Assessment tool for non randomized studies. Data were analyzed using the RevMan 5.2.11 program of Cochrane library. Results: Overall, study quality was moderate to high. The weighted average effect size across studies was -0.32 (95% CI [-0.56, -0.07], p=.010, $I^2 $=45%) for cortisol concentration, -0.62 (95%CI [-0.96,-0.29], p<.001, $I^2 $=0%) for T lymphocyte (CD3) and -0.45 (95%CI [-0.74, -0.16], p=.003, $I^2 $=0%) for Th lymphocyte (CD4) numbers. Psychosocial interventions were not effective for Tc lymphocyte (CD4), NK cell, monocyte, and cytokine response. Conclusion: Although these results provide only small evidence of successful immune modulation, they support the conclusion that psychosocial interventions can assist cancer patients in reducing emotional distress and improving immune response.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of posture difference on respiratory function in cerebral palsy patients. Methods : Twenty-two cerebral palsy childrens were recruited this study. Respiratory Function test was measured with Cardio Touch 3000 and Micro Respiratory Pressure Meter. Cardio Touch 3000 was used to assess cerebral palsy childrens' forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume at one second. Micro Respiratory Pressure Meter was to assess Maximum inspiratory pressure and Maximum expiratory pressure. Subjects had four respiratory functions measured in supine, slouched sitting, and elected sitting postures. Statistical analysis was used Paired t-test for within-group comparisons and Independent t-test for between-group comparisons. SPSS statistics Ver 20.0 was used for statistical anlysis and statistical significance was defined as a p-value less than 0.05. Result : The subjects' respiratory function according to posture showed significant difference in Forced Vital Capacity(FVC), Maximum Expiratory Pressure(MEP) and Maximum inspiratory pressure(MIP)(p<.05). Elected sitting posture had a positive effect on respiratory function than slouched sitting, supine. Conclusion : In conclusion, We could see that change of posture in children with cerebral palsy affects respiratory function and Elected sitting can be a positive help for the respiratory function of children with cerebral palsy.
Objectives: This study was conducted to analyze the single-dose toxicity and the safety of Mahwangcheonoh pharmacopuncture extracts. Methods: Six-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats were used for this study. Doses of Mahwangcheonoh pharmacopuncture extracts were set at 0.25 mL (low-dose), 0.5 mL (medium-dose) and 1.0 mL (high-dose) for the test groups. A dose of 1.0 mL of normal saline solution was set for the control group. During 14 days, general symptoms, mortalities, and changes in hematology, blood biochemistry and histopathology of all rats were observed. Results: No death was observed in all test groups. Any abnormal symptom was not observed in all of the groups. No significant changes in weight between the control group and the test groups were observed. In addition, no significant differences in the hematology signs, the blood biochemistry levels and the histopathological signs related to the Mahwangcheonoh pharmacopuncture extracts injection were observed. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that Mahwangcheonoh pharmacopuncture at doses of 1.0 mL or less may be consider safe and non-toxic. So, it can be used for therapy of obesity sufficiently. But further studies on this subject must be performed to confirm and verify this conclusion.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of core basic nursing education using cellular phone video recordings on self-confidence in performance, achievement, and practice satisfaction. Methods: The research design was a nonequivalent control group modified and non-synchronized design. The participants were assigned to either the experimental (n=60) or control group (n=67). During one semester, the experimental group received training for 10 selected core basic nursing skills using cellular phone video recording. The control group, also for one semester, received training with traditional practices. Self-confidence in performance and practice satisfaction were measured using a questionnaire, and achievement was evaluated by professors at the conclusion of the semester. Collected data were analyzed using t-test and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: Self-confidence in performance increased significantly after training in the experimental group (t=7.94, p<.001). The experimental group showed significantly higher self-confidence in performance (t=2.39, p=.018) and achievement (t=2.40, p=.018) compared to the control group. However, the difference in practice satisfaction was not statistically significant. Conclusion: The results indicate that cellular phone video recording is effective in improving self-confidence in performance and achievement of core basic nursing skills.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate oral health status according to use of oral care products in the adult population and determine methods for improving oral health status. Methods: The date of 'The fifth korean national health and nutrition examination survey 2011' was analyzed for this study. The questionnaire was measured regarding oral care products, Oral health status and socio-economic characteristics. For statistical analysis, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 19.0 for Windows was used. We determined frequencies, percentage and determining statistical significance using multiple regression analysis. Results: General characteristics and oral care products showed differences in DMFT associated with residence, gender, age, education, dental floss, etc(waterpic, hi-tech toothbrush, denture care products), in FS-T associated with residence, gender, age, income level, education, health insurance, dental floss, Interdental brush, etc, in T-health associated with residence, age, education, health insurance, Interdental brush, etc. Conclusion: In conclusion, in order to promote oral health status of the adult have to suitable selection and accurate usage of oral care products. Education and program in oral care products for the adult should be needed.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to carry out research on nurses regarding end of life decision and advance directives (ADs) and their attitude, experience and confidence towards them in order to define the role of nurses. Methods: In this research, questionnaire was distributed and data were collected and analyzed after receiving a written consent from 332 nurses. The survey was conducted from the $14^{th}$ to $30^{th}$ of September, 2009. The instrument used for conducting the study was revised version of KAESAD (The Knowledge, Attitudinal, Experiential Survey on Advance Directives). Results: We have come to a conclusion that nurses have positive attitude towards ADs. However, they hardly had any experience regarding them which leads to low confidence in assisting preparing ADs. Also, attitude towards ADs had no correlation with experience and confidence. Conclusion: In order to bring about the confidence level from positive attitude that nurses have, there needs to be a systematic change in nursing education. For that, it requires an education system that emphasizes the role of nurses which incorporates Korean culture and characteristics regarding death issue.
Partial penetration welding joint defines the groove welds that applies the one side welding which does not use steel backing and both side welding without back gouging, that is, the partial penetration welding joint leaves an unwelded portion at the root of the welding area. In this study, we analyzed the residual stress and fracture on the thick metal plates that introduced the partial penetration welding method. As results of using above mentioned welding method, we could draw a conclusion that longitudinal stress and traverse stress occurred around the welding area was so minimal and did not affect any influence. We also performed the fracture behavior evaluation on the partial penetration multi-pass welding with 25.4mm thick plate by using theJ-integral, which finally led us the conclusion that the partial penetration multi -pass welding method is more applicable and effective in handling the root face with less than 6.35mm.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of music therapy according to preferred music and to identify the effect of duration time and starting point of music therapy on anxiety and vital signs in spinal anesthesia operations. Method: These subjects were categorized into three groups based on the order of the date of operation. Data on anxiety and vital signs for this study were collected from them. The collected data were analyzed by $X^2$-test, t-test, paired t-test and ANCOVA. Result: The results of this study showed that preferred music, differences of duration times and starting points of music therapy didn't make significant differences in anxiety and vital signs among the three groups. However for anxiety, there was a meaningful difference within three groups. This result indicates even randomly chosen music by nurses considering the patients' age makes a meaningful difference in anxiety. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the conclusion can be made that music therapy is a useful nursing implementation to reduce anxiety in patients undergoing operations with spinal anesthesia.
In this paper, we propose the structural design of Interval Type-2 FCM based RBFNN. Proposed model consists of three modules such as condition, conclusion and inference parts. In the condition part, Interval Type-2 FCM clustering which is extended from FCM clustering is used. In the conclusion part, the parameter coefficients of the consequence part are estimated through LSE(Least Square Estimation) and WLSE(Weighted Least Square Estimation). In the inference part, final model outputs are acquired by fuzzy inference method from linear combination of both polynomial and activation level obtained through Interval Type-2 FCM and acquired activation level through Interval Type-2 FCM. Additionally, The several parameters for the proposed model are identified by using differential evolution. Final model outputs obtained through benchmark data are shown and also compared with other already studied models' performance. The proposed algorithm is performed by using Iris and Vehicle data for pattern classification. For the validation of regression problem modeling performance, modeling experiments are carried out by using MPG and Boston Housing data.
