Design of The Environment for a Realtime Data Integration based on TMDR (TMDR 기반의 실시간 데이터 통합 환경 설계)

  • This study suggests a method for extending XMDR to integrate and search legacy system. This extension blends MSO(Meta Semantic Ontology) for the management of metadata, ML(Meta Location) for the management of location information, and Topic Map which is the standard language used to represent semantic web. This study refers to it as TMDR(Topic Map MetaData Registry). As an intelligent layer, Topic Map functions like an index. However, if the data frequently changes, the efficiency of Topic Map may drop. To solve this problem, the proposed system represents the relation among metadata, the relation among real data, and the relation between metadata and real data as Topic Map. The represented Topic Map proposes a method to reduce the changing relation among real data caused by the relation among metadata.

A Design for XMDR Search System Using the Meta-Topic Map (메타-토픽맵을 이용한 XMDR 검색 시스템 설계)

  • Recently many researchers have been studying various methods for data integration. Among the integration methods that the researchers have studied, there are a method using metadata repository, and Topic Map which identifies the relationships between the data. This study suggests Meta-Topic Map to create Topic Map about search keyword by applying metadata and Topic Map, and the XMDR as a way to connect Meta-Topic Map with metadata in the legacy system. Considering the semantic relationship of user's keyword in the legacy system, the Meta-Topic Map provides the Topic Map format and generates the Topic Map about user's keyword. The XMDR performs structural integration through solving the problem of heterogeneity among metadata in the legacy system. The suggested svides isproves the interoperability among existing Relational Database constructed in the legacy system and the search efficiency and is efficient in expanding the system.

  • Traditional keyword-based searching methods suffer from low accuracy and high complexity due to the rapid growth in the amount of information. Accordingly, many researchers attempt to implement a so-called semantic search which is based on the semantics of the user's query. Semantic information can be described using a semantic modeling language, such as Topic Map. In this paper, we propose a new method to map a topic map to a traditional Relational Database (RDB) without any information loss. Although there have been a few attempts to map topic maps to RDB, they have paid scant attention to handling multi-role topics. In this paper, we propose a new storage structure to map multi-role topics to traditional RDB. The proposed structure consists of a mapping table, role tables, and content tables. Additionally, we devise a query translator to convert a user's query to one appropriate to the proposed structure.

A Caching Mechanism for Knowledge Maps (지식 맵을 위한 캐슁 기법)

  • There has been many researches in TopicMap and RDF which are approach to handle data efficiently with metadata. However, No researches has been performed to service and implement except for presentation and description. In this paper, We suggest the caching mechanism to support an efficient access of knowledgemap and practical knowledgemap service with implementation of TopicMap system. First, We propose a method to navigate Knowledgemap efficiently that includes advantage of former methods. Then, To transmit TopicMap efficiently, We suggest caching mechanism for knowledgemap. This method is that user will be able to navigate knowledgemap efficiently in the viewpoint of human, not application. Therefor the mechanism doesn't cash topics by logical or physical locality but clustering by information and characteristic value of TopicMap. Lastly, we suggest replace mechanism by using graph structure of TopicMap for efficiency of transmission.

Trend Analysis of Research Topics in Ecological Research

  • This study analyzed research trends in the field of ecological research. Data were collected based on a keyword search of the SCI, SSCI, and A&HCI databases from January 2002 to September 2022. The seven keywords, including biodiversity, ecology, ecotourism, species, climate change, ecosystem, restoration, wildlife, were recommended by ecological research experts. Word clouds were created for each of the searched keywords, and topic map analysis was performed. Topic map analysis using biodiversity, climate change, ecology, ecosystem, and restoration each generated 10 topics; topic maps analysis using the ecotourism keyword generated 5 topics; and topic map analysis using the wildlife keyword generated 4 topics. Each topic contained six keywords.

  • One of core technology in Web 2.0 is tagging, which is applied to multimedia data such as web document of blog, image and video etc widely. But unlike expectation that the tags will be reused in information retrieval and then maximize the retrieval efficiency, unacceptable retrieval results appear owing to toot limitation of tag. In this paper, in the base of preceding research about image retrieval through tag clustering, we design and implement a topic map generation system which is a semantic knowledge system. Finally, tag information in cluster were generated automatically with topics of topic map. The generated topics of topic map are endowed with mean relationship by use of WordNet. Also the topics are endowed with occurrence information suitable for topic pair, and then a topic map with semantic knowledge system can be generated. As the result, the topic map preposed in this paper can be used in not only user's information retrieval demand with semantic navigation but alse convenient and abundant information service.

  • Topic map typically provide information to user through the selection of topics, that is using only topic, association, occurrence on the first topicmap which is made by domain expert without regard to individual interests or context, for the purpose of supplementation for the weakness which is providing personalized topic map information, personalization has been studied for supporting user preference through preseting of customize, filtering, scope, etc in topic map. Nevertheless, personalization in current topicmap is not enough to user so far. In this paper, we propose a design of PTRS(personalized topicmap ranking system) & algorithm, using both user profile(click through data) and basic element of topic map(topic, association) on knowledge layer in specific domain topicmap, therefore User has strong point that is improvement of personal facilities to user through representation of ranked topicmap information in consideration of user preference using PTRS.

Mapping Topic Maps using WordNet ontology (워드넷 온톨로지를 이용한 토픽맵 매핑)

  • In this paper, we provide a mechanism to map topics between similar Topic Map ontologies, which enlarge the capacities of current Topic Maps. That is, there is no explicit way to map topics across multiple Topic Maps in current technology. Therefore, our approach provide semi-automatic or automatic mapping of topics between Topic Maps. In order to map the topics, we provide precise definitions of mapping properties and mapping rules.

  • Due to a growing interest in searching and expressing knowledge effectively, knowledge management methods such as Topic Map are becoming more important. Topic Map organizes knowledge that is full of intricate relations, so maintaining and managing Topic Map consistently is very essential. TMCL and other constraint languages have limits as they can check simple constraints but can not support complex constraints like dependence constraints. Current constraint checking systems operating at the application level are also showing an inferiority in performance. In this paper, we extend TMCL based on the characteristics of other constraint languages in the information system field and related fields. We build and propose an RDBMS-based Topic Map constraint checking system to support the extended constraint language effectively. This new system handles complex types of constraints like dependency constraint as well as basic Topic Map constraints present in the TMCL. As the system examines each constraint it uses templates to generate queries for effective checking and overall shows a higher performance level than current systems.

  • The purpose of this study is to describe major concepts related to W3C OWL and ISO Topic Maps and to provide the result of comparison and analysis regarding semantic expression power between two ontology languages. This paper is comprised of the following parts: 1) describing URI and namespace concepts that are fundamental building block of effective ontology construction; 2) offering detailed explanation of major Topic Map concepts such as topics, associations, and occurrences; 3) providing how to accomplish the second purpose of cataloging(grouping related items when displaying the search result) using Topic Map; and 4) finally explaining the difference between two ontology languages in terms of semantic expression power.
