근사적인 해석법에 의한 근입된 벽체의 극한지지력 평가 (Assessment of Ultimate Bearing Capacity for an Embedded Wall by Closed-Form Analytical Solution)

  • 본 연구는 사질토 지반에 근입되어 있는 벽체의 극한지지력을 구하기 위해 새로운 근사적인 해석법의 전개과정에 대해 설명한다. 이러한 근사적인 형태의 해석기법은 상계 및 하계법으로 구성되어 있다. 상 하계법으로 계산된 값은 소성영역에서 구해진 2차원 실내벽체모형의 하중재하시험 및 유한요소해석 결과와 비교하였다. 비교 결과, 모형실험과 유한요소해석으로부터 구한 극한하중 값은 상계와 하계 사이에 모두 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 비교에서 특이 할 사항은 하계법으로 구한 벽체의 극한하중이 모형실험 및 유한요소해석에서 구한 극한하중과 잘 일치되는 것을 보여 주었다. 그러나, 평면변형률 조건에서 기존의 경험적인 식에 의한 계산에서 얻어진 극한하중은 하계법의 극한하중에 훨씬 못 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

횡방향 하중을 받는 말뚝의 해석해에 대한 이론적 고찰 (A Theoretical Study on the Analytical Solutions for Laterally Loaded Pile)

  • 본 연구에서는 횡방향 하중을 받는 말뚝의 해석 해를 유도하고 그로부터 말뚝의 거동분석과 더불어 긴 말뚝으로의 거동기준이 되는 임계 말뚝길이(critical pile length)를 지반조건을 달리하여 구하고 비교 분석하였다. 또한 해석 해에 의한 말뚝의 거동과 p-y곡선을 적용한 수치해석을 통해 말뚝의 거동을 비교분석하였다. 해석 해에 따르면 밀도를 달리한 지반조건에 대해 무차원 임계 말뚝길이는 해석에서 고려한 세 가지 말뚝머리 경계조건에 있어 2.3~3.2 사이였다. 해석 해에 의한 결과와 수치해석에 의한 결과를 비교하면 말뚝길이에 따른 말뚝의 변형과 모멘트 분포양상은 유사하였다. 말뚝머리 변형량은 해석에 의한 경우가 수치해석에 의한 경우보다 보수적인 값을 보여주었으며 휨모멘트의 값은 해석에 의한 값과 수치해석에 의한 값 사이에 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다.

Non-Gaussian analysis methods for planing craft motion

  • Unlike the traditional displacement type vessels, the high speed planing crafts are supported by the lift forces which are highly non-linear. This non-linear phenomenon causes their motions in an irregular seaway to be non-Gaussian. In general, it may not be possible to express the probability distribution of such processes by an analytical formula. Also the process might not be stationary or ergodic in which case the statistical behavior of the motion to be constantly changing with time. Therefore the extreme values of such a process can no longer be calculated using the analytical formulae applicable to Gaussian processes. Since closed form analytical solutions do not exist, recourse is taken to fitting a distribution to the data and estimating the statistical properties of the process from this fitted probability distribution. The peaks over threshold analysis and fitting of the Generalized Pareto Distribution are explored in this paper as an alternative to Weibull, Generalized Gamma and Rayleigh distributions in predicting the short term extreme value of a random process.

  • This research focuses on the development of an analytical model loosening mechanism of dental implant system. The model is utilized for predictions of preload values for internal and external types of implants. It identifies the effects of various parameters such as friction, geometric factors and mechanical properties on the loosening mechanism of the implant system. The results of analytical model are compared to those of the numerical method for validation.

  • The dynamic responses of highway bridges are varying depending on the features of either traveling vehicles or bridges. In this study, the probabilistic characteristics of dynamic amplification factors of highway bridges due to traveling heavy vehicles have been examined through analytical simulation processes. The truck with tandem axle and tractor with semitrailer are selected as the representative heavy vehicles, which are modeled with three dimensional 7-DOF and 12-DOF models, respectively. The analytical results have been compared with the experimental results of dynamic loading tests and the validity of the analytical models has been examined. Parametric studies on the means and extreme values of amplification factors have been performed with various traffic conditions such as vehicle types, vehicle weights, surface profiles, vehicle velocity, etc.

용접관(熔接管)의 용접중(熔接中) 온도분포(溫度分布) (On the Arc Welding Temperature in a Metal Tube)

  • In a recent year, welding is known as a most powerful process in production of pipe. For the conventional purpose, pipe is welded in axial direction to minimize the welding cost. And for the high pressure pipe, welding is done in helical direction to increase a allowable hoop stress. An analytical welding temperature distributions in a metal tube are obtained as a two dimensional case in quasi-stationary state. Numerical values which have been obtained by the analytical investigation shows a good agreement with the isocromatic lines which have been appeared at oxidized zone along the welds. Therefore it is thought that the analytical result can be used in estimating the heat effect upon the material such as a residual stress and strain, metallurgical change and etc..

파워시프트 변속기 유압클러치시스템의 해석적 연구 (An Analytical Investigation of a Hydraulic Clutch System of Powershift Transmission)

  • This study presents an analytical model of hydraulic clutch system of a power shift transmission to analyze pressure modulation characteristics. A typical hydraulic clutch system was modeled by using AMESim in which the parameters of major components were measured for simulation. Test apparatus was established using the components of power shift and power shuttle clutches with instrumental equipment. The results of simulation and experiment were so close that the proposed analytical model in this study was validated. However the cylinder model analogized clutch dynamics need to be improved in future study. The effects of parameters of orifice diameter, accumulator stroke and oil temperature on pressure modulation were analyzed respectively. The results of parameter sensitivity analysis show that modulation time and set pressure can be easily adjusted by changing parameter values. It is also found that the hydraulic clutch system used in this study is so susceptible to oil temperature that cooling equipment is necessary.

Optimal Excitation Angles of a Switched Reluctance Generator for Maximum Output Power

  • This paper investigates the optimal values of turn-on and turn-off angles, and ratio of flux linkage at turn-off angle and peak phase current positions of optimal control for accomplishing maximum output power in an 8/6 Switched Reluctance Generator (8/6 SRG). Phase current waveform is analyzed to determine optimal excitation angles (optimal turn-on and turn-off angles) of the SRG for maximum output power which is applied from a nonlinear magnetization curve in terms of control variables (dc bus voltage, shaft speed, and excitation angles). The optimal excitation angles in single pulse mode of operation are proposed via the analytical model. Simulated and experimental results have verified the accuracy of the analytical model.

Degradation of buckling capacity of slender concrete-filled double skin steel tubular columns due to interface compliance

  • In this paper a novel mathematical model and its analytical solution of global buckling behaviour of slender elastic concrete-filled double-skin tubular (CFDST) columns with finite compliance between the steel tubes and a sandwiched concrete core is derived for the first time. The model is capable of investigating the influence of various basic parameters on critical buckling loads of CFDST columns. It is shown that the elastic buckling load of circular and slender CFDST columns is independent on longitudinal contact stiffness, but, on the other hand, it can be considerably dependent on circumferential contact stiffness. The increasing of the circumferential contact stiffness increases the critical buckling load. Furthermore, it is shown that analytical results can agree well with the experimental and numerical results if the calibrated values of circumferential contact stiffness are used in the calculations. Moreover, it is shown that the contact between the steel tubes and a sandwiched concrete core of tested large-scale CFDST columns used in the comparison is relatively weak. Finally, the proposed analytical results can be used as a benchmark solution.

Analytical solution of buckling problem in plates reinforced by Graphene platelet based on third order shear deformation theory

  • In this paper, buckling analyses of nanocomposite plate reinforced by Graphen platelet (GPL) is studied. The Halphin-Tsai model is used for obtaining the effective material properties of nanocomposite plate. The nanocomposite plate is modeled by Third order shear deformation theory (TSDT). The elastic medium is simulated by Winkler model. Employing relations of strains-displacements and stress-strain, the energy equations of the plate are obtained and using Hamilton's principle, the governing equations are derived. The governing equations are solved based on analytical solution. The effect of GPL volume percent, geometrical parameters of plate and elastic foundation on the buckling load are investigated. Results show that with increasing GPLs volume percent, the buckling load increases. In addition, elastic medium can enhance the values of buckling load significantly.
