To reduce the shock in shifting, the clutches and the brakes in automatic transmission have to be connected smoothly and disconnected rapidly. It is PCSV(Pressure Control Solenoid Valve) that paly this role of automatic transmission. In this paper, there were two steps in the analysis of the PCSV. The first step was modeling the elctromagnet by the permeance method. The second step was modeling the hydraulic circuit by the pressure differential equa- tion. In addition to this modeling, a experiment was performed and the commercial package program was used in order to justify modeling. The result of modeling coincide with the result of experiment and commercial package program. As a result, this modeling is usable in analysis of dynamic characteristics of the PCSV.

In South Korea, the concept of water environment was expanded to include aquatic ecosystems with the Integrated Water Management implementation. Watershed-scale modeling is typically performed for hydrologic component analysis, however, there is a need to expand to include ecosystem variability such that the modeling corresponds to the social and political issues around the water environment. For this to be viable, the modeling must account for several distinct features in South Korean watersheds. The modeling must provide reasonable estimations for peak flow rate and apply to paddy areas as they represent 11% of land use area and greatly influence groundwater levels during irrigation. These facts indicate that the modeling time intervals should be sub-daily and the hydrologic model must have sufficient power to process surface flow, subsurface flow, and baseflow. Thus, the features required for watershed-scale modeling are suggested in this study by way of review of frequently used hydrologic models including: Agricultural Policy/Environmental eXtender(APEX), Catchment hydrologic cycle analysis tool(CAT), Hydrological Simulation Program-FORTRAN(HSPF), Spatio-Temporal River-basin Ecohydrology Analysis Model(STREAM), and Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT).

Rational dynamic modeling and analysis method f3r complex structures are studied with special attention to slide way joints. For modeling of slide way joints, a general modeling technique is used by using the influence coefficients method which is applied to the conversion of detailed finite element model to the equivalent reduced joint model. The theoretical part of this method is illustrated and the method is applied to the structure with slide way joint. In this method, the non-linearity of the contact surfaces is considered within a proper range and the boundary effect of the joint model could be eliminated. The proposed method was applied to finite element modal analysis of a clamp jointed cantilever beam and slide way joints of the vertical type lathe. The method can also be used to other kinds of joint modeling. The results of these analysis were compared with those of Yoshimura models and rigid joint models, which demonstrated the practical applicability of the proposed method.

Microarray information system is a complex system to manage, analyze and interpretate microarray gene expression data. Establishment of well-defined development process is very essential for understanding the complexity and organization of the system. We performed object-oriented analysis using Unified Modeling Language (UML) in specifying, visualizing and documenting microarray information system. The object-oriented analysis consists of three major steps: (i) use case modeling to describe various functionalities from the user's perspective (ii) dynamic modeling to illustrate behavioral aspects of the system (iii) object modeling to represent structural aspects of the system. As a result of our modeling activities we provide the UML diagrams showing various views of the microarray information system. We believe that the object-oriented analysis ensures effective documentations and communication of information system requirements. Another useful feature of object-oriented technique is structural continuity to standard microarray data model MAGE-OM (Microarray Gene Expression Object Model). The proposed modeling e(forts can be applicable for integration of biomedical information system.
This paper presents exact autotransformer-fed AC electric railroad system modeling using constant current mode. The theory is based on the solution of algebraic. The proposed modeling is considered the line self-impedances and mutual-impedances. Besides, the load modeling improved results are obtained as application to the proposed constant current mode. In the analysis on AT-fed AC electric railroad system circuit, a generalized analysis method using the loop equation on a case by case. the simulation objectives are to calculate the catenary and rail voltages with respect to ground, as the train moves along a section of line between two adjacent ATs. The model contains assumptions regarding the representation of the autotransformer, the impedance of the track/catenary system, and the grounding arrangements, which all effect the accuracy of the result. The modeling results seem very reasonable. It is established that techniques for the AC electric railroad system modeling and analysis.

An energy modeling analysis method currently has been considered as a new approach for energy policy research, because the importance of renewable energy use has been emphasized more and more. This study used RETScreen model as a clean energy decision making methodology for adaptation to climate change and elimination of various pollutions. This modeling method includes five step standard analysis; energy model, cost analysis, GHG analysis, financial analysis, and sensitivity & risk analysis and it also assesses both conventional and modern energy sources and technologies. This methodology for the photovoltaic(PV) energy modeling is used to evaluate the energy production, financial performance and GHG emissions reduction of photovoltaic projects. In addition, the PV application systems are classified into three basic applications; On-grid system, Off-grid system and water pumping system. This study assesses the renewable energy techno-economic modeling method with the feasibility analysis result of 10 MW PV power plant in Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates. Furthermore this study stresses the importance of renewable energy model research by applying to domestic PV power plant which is now in preparation.

A finite element analysis of end-to-end artery/PTFE anastomosis has been presented in this study to evaluate the distribution of compliance and stresses in the vicinity of the anastomosis due to any mismatch in compliance characteristics. The artery wall was assumed to be made of linear isotropic material in this simplified model and a nonlinear analysis and convergency study with respect to increasing meshed element numbers were performed with a mean artery pressure loading of the artery-PTFE model. Also, sub-modeling method was Introduced to progress the accuracy of the finite element analysis. The results are as follow : 1. A hypercompliant zone on the artery side was observed around 4.Omm from the anastomosis and a high hoop stresses in the wall of artery and PTFE was dominant. 2. An artery displays large deformation so that nonlinear analysis and sub-modeling method was used. 3. An anastomosis with the thinner thickness and larger diameter PTFE (B type) could reduce the compliance disagreement.

The objectives of this paper is to analyze the reinforced concrete structures by using fiber model. In this study, the fiber modeling techniques including modeling of support conditions are studied. In order to verify the modeling techniques, analysis results obtained for reinforced concrete cantilever beam and reinforced concrete T-girder bridge under cyclic loading are compared with experimental results from full scale test. From the comparison, it is shown that the modeling techniques in this study can be well applied to the nonlinear failure analysis of reinforced concrete structures with porper modifications.
The objective of this study is to formulate a general 3D material-structural analysis framework for the thermomechanical behavior of steel-concrete structures in a fire environment. The proposed analysis framework consists of three sequential modeling parts: fire dynamics simulation, heat transfer analysis, and a thermomechanical stress analysis of the structure. The first modeling part consists of applying the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) where coupled CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) with thermodynamics are combined to realistically model the fire progression within the steel-concrete structure. The goal is to generate the spatial-temporal (ST) solution variables (temperature, heat flux) on the surfaces of the structure. The FDS-ST solutions are generated in a discrete form. Continuous FDS-ST approximations are then developed to represent the temperature or heat-flux at any given time or point within the structure. An extensive numerical study is carried out to examine the best ST approximation functions that strike a balance between accuracy and simplicity. The second modeling part consists of a finite-element (FE) transient heat analysis of the structure using the continuous FDS-ST surface variables as prescribed thermal boundary conditions. The third modeling part is a thermomechanical FE structural analysis using both nonlinear material and geometry. The temperature history from the second modeling part is used at all nodal points. The ABAQUS (2003) FE code is used with external user subroutines for the second and third simulation parts in order to describe the specific heat temperature nonlinear dependency that drastically affects the transient thermal solution especially for concrete materials. User subroutines are also developed to apply the continuous FDS-ST surface nodal boundary conditions in the transient heat FE analysis. The proposed modeling framework is applied to predict the temperature and deflection of the well-documented third Cardington fire test.
