  • Pre-segmented pixels can reduce the difficulty of segmentation and promote the segmentation performance. This paper proposes a novel segmentation method based on merging texture superpixels by computing inner similarity. Firstly, we design a set of Gabor filters to compute the amplitude responses of original image and compute the texture map by a salience model. Secondly, we employ the simple clustering to extract superpixles by affinity of color, coordinates and texture map. Then, we design a normalized histograms descriptor for superpixels integrated color and texture information of inner pixels. To obtain the final segmentation result, all adjacent superpixels are merged by the homogeneity comparison of normalized color-texture features until the stop criteria is satisfied. The experiments are conducted on natural scene images and synthesis texture images demonstrate that the proposed segmentation algorithm can achieve ideal segmentation on complex texture regions.

  • Most washing machines are now produced as a drum-type, where a washing drum mounted on a suspension system with springs and dampers, to minimize the transmittance of the vibration from the drum to the frame. A low-cost MR damper, using magneto-rheological fluids, can produce variable damping forces by changing the current values in the magnetic coil. Experimental results show the comparison of the vibration attenuation performances between two different dampers. One test set-up uses a passive damper and another one uses a MR fluid damper. The test results showed that the vibration amplitude of the washing machine with the MR damper is much smaller than the case with the passive damper.

  • Impact occurs when the vibration amplitude of a mechanical component exceeds a given clearance size. Examples of these mechanical systems include impact dampers, gears, link mechanism, rotor rub, and so on. The vibration due to impact has strong non-linear characteristics, which cannot be predicted by usual linear analysis. The designs of mechanical systems with impacts should be done on the basis of overall dynamic characteristics of the systems. In this paper, the nonlinear behaviors of a beam with a periodically moving support and a rigid stop are investigated numerically and experimentally. The beam vibration with impact is modeled by the equations of motion containing piecewise linear restoring forces and by the coefficient of restitution, respectively. Experimental and numerical results show jump phenomena and higher-harmonic vibrations. The effects between the increase of stiffness during impact and the coefficient of restitution are investigated through the comparison of the experimental and numerical results.

  • In experimental method, this study was that galvanic vestibular stimulation in vestibular system influenced the excitability of spinal neuron through. H-reflex was measured by galvanic vestibular stimulation of binaural(right-negative pole and left-positive pole) at left head turning and prone position in sixteen normal subjects in their twenties age were selected. The summary of the comparison results were obtained below. 1. In the change of H reflex according to galvanic vestibular stimulation(GVS), Hmax amplitude(p<.05) increased significantly after stimulation. 2. In the change of H reflex according to galvanic vestibular stimulation(GVS), Hmax/Mmax ratio(p<.05) increased significantly after stimulation. In the conclusion, galvanic vestibular stimulation influenced the excitability of vestibulospinal tract and spinal neuron.

  • In this paper, we present the AFP(antenna front plate)s which were designed to reduce the reflection for the sake of the improvement of DF(direction finding) accuracy. The AFP consists of front plate, absorber and radome. The AFPs were optimized respectively by real test and we performed the DF test using our AFPs in laboratory. The DF test shows that the DF accuracy is about 2 times better than the requirement capability. Then, the DF field test was executed using the AFPs, which were installed in helicopter in consideration of the reflection by platform. The result of the DF field test is superior to the requirement capability also, which shows the validity of our design method.

  • This paper investigates control algorithms for a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) with back-to-back converter in medium-voltage wind power system under unbalanced grid conditions. Operation of DFIG under unbalanced grid conditions causes several problems such as overcurrent, unbalanced currents, active power pulsation and torque pulsation. Three different control algorithms to compensate for the unbalanced conditions have been investigated with respect to four performance factors; fault ride-through capability, efficiency, harmonic distortions and torque pulsation. The control algorithm having zero amplitude of negative sequence current shows the most cost-effective performance concerning fault ride-through capability and efficiency. The control algorithm for nullifying the oscillating component of the instantaneous active power generates least harmonic distortions. Combination of these two control algorithms depending on the operating requirements presents most optimized performance factors under the generalized unbalanced operating conditions.

  • Two-Dimensional modelling of the Cochlear biomechanics is presented in this paper. The Laplace partial differential equation which represents the fluld mechanics of the Cochlea has been transformed into two-dimensional electrical transmission line. The procedure of this transformation is explained in detail. The comparison between one and two dimensional models is also presented. This electrical modelling of the basilar membrane (BM) is clearly useful for the next approach to the further development of active elements which are essenclal in the producing of the sharp tuning of the BM. This paper shows that two-dimension model is qualitatively better than one-dimensional model both in amplitude and phase responses of the BM displacement. The present model is only for frequency response. However because the model is electrical, the two-dimensional transmission line model can be extended to time response without any difficult.

  • The important source of noise from railways is rolling noise caused by wheel and rail vibrations induced by acoustic roughness at the wheel-rail contact. The main contributors for rolling noise are the sleepers, rail and wheels. In order to analyze and predict rolling noise, it is necessary to understand the vibrating behaviors of railway tracks, as well as the wheels. In the present paper, theoretical modelings of the railway track are reviewed in terms of the rolling noise, and they are applied for the three representative types of domestic railway tracks operated: the conventional ballasted track, KTX ballasted track and KTX concrete track. The characteristics of waves propagating along rails were investigated and compared between the tracks. The tracks were modeled as discretely supported Timoshenko beams and compared in terms of the averaged squared amplitude of velocity which is directly related to the sound radiation from the rails.

  • Installing vibration isolation in structures, such as structures adjacent to subways, may be delicatebecause of the proximity with the vibration source or because of the wave propagation path. This paper discusses on method that install isolation Pads on underground walls as a part of the vibration mitigation system, and also on its efficiency, The proposed method is proven to affect significantly the distribution of acceleration in the neighborhood of the structure and to reduce efficiently the maximum amplitude of the vibration. It is also seen that installing isolating pads until the depth of the foundations and deeper is more efficient than installing such device separately from the structure. This Study being limited to the comparison of installation methods, further Studies considering the thickness, stiffness and other parameters should be required.
