In this paper, we present a method to customize the ground color in outdoor sports video to provide TV viewers with a better viewing experience or subjective satisfaction. This issue, related to content personalization, is becoming critical with the advent of mobile TV and interactive TV. In outdoor sports video, such as soccer video, it is sometimes observed that the ground color is not satisfactory to viewers. In this work, the proposed algorithm is focused on customizing the ground color to deliver a better viewing experience for viewers. The algorithm comprises three modules: ground detection, shot classification, and ground color customization. We customize the ground color by considering the difference between ground colors from both input video and the target ground patch. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme offers useful tools to provide a more comfortable viewing experience and that it is amenable to real-time performance, even in a software-based implementation.

Process Control Systems (PCSs) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems have recently been added to the already wide collection of wireless sensor networks applications. The PCS/SCADA environment is somewhat more amenable to the use of heavy cryptographic mechanisms such as public key cryptography than other sensor application environments. The sensor nodes in the environment, however, are still open to devastating attacks such as node capture, which makes designing a secure key management challenging. Recently, Nilsson et al. proposed a key management scheme for PCS/SCADA, which was claimed to provide forward and backward secrecies. In this paper, we define four different types of adversaries or attackers in wireless sensor network environments in order to facilitate the evaluation of protocol strength. We then analyze Nilsson et al. 's protocol and show that it does not provide forward and backward secrecies against any type of adversary model.

Intrathoracic goiters can be classified anterior and posterior mediastinal goiter with its locations. Most intrathoracic goiters are retrosternally situated in the anterior mediastinal compartment. Posterior mediastinal goiters are rare, but might present a difficult diagnostic and surgical problem. Although thyroid goiters are nearly always amenable to a cervical approach, posterior mediastinal goiters may require a combined cervicothoracic approach with sternotomy or thoracothomy. We herein describe a case of posterior mediastinal goiter which was excised only by cervical approach. The relevant literature is briefly reviewed.

Proper PCR primer design determines the success or failure of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) reactions. In this project, we develop GENE-PRIMER, a genomes specific PCR primer design program that is amenable to a genome-wide scale. To achieve this, we incorporated various parameters with biological significance into our program, namely, primer length, melting temperature of primers Tm, guanine/cytosine (GC) content of primer, homopolymeric runs in primer and self-hybridization tendency of primer. In addition, BLAST algorithm is utilized for the purpose of primer specificity check. In summary, selected primers adhered to both physico-chemical criteria and also display specificity to intended binding site in the genome.

This review focused on the pharmacological treatment of alcoholism, especially alcoholism-related mental disorder. The pharmacological agent for alcoholism can be divided into the following categories : anticraving agent, aversive agent, agent to treat acute alcohol withdrawal, agent to diminish drinking by treating associated psychiatric pathology, agent to induce sobriety in intoxicated individuals. Following trends are included in new trends of pharmacological treatment of alcoholism. What are precise conditions amenable to pharmacological intervention? ; How can psychosocial and behavioral intervention be integrated with pharmacotherapy to enhance treatment outcome? ; Is the concept of "matching" specific pharmacotherapy treatment to different aspect of alcoholism more efficacious than a more generalized medicational approach to treatment? One of the most important factors for alcoholics treatment is good and proper therapeutic relationship with patients and setting up individually specialized treatment program is also important.

The range of disorders of old age that are thought potentially amenable to drug therapy is increasing. However, factors such as the growing costs of drug development and prescription, the novel pharmacological profile and enhanced potency of many new compounds, and the concerns that the elderly may have enhanced susceptibility to toxicity all make drug usage in the elderly patient an increasingly specialized topic. This is compounded by the high incidence of multiple disorders in frail elderly patients, and consequently the possibility of the long term use of several drugs, thus, adding the risk of drug interactions. Thus, clinical pharmacology in the elderly requires understanding of pharmacologic characteristic determinants of the physiological changes (Table 1) associated with aging in terms of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.

This paper presents the nonlinear characteristics of the parametric resonance of a simply supported beam which is inextensible beam. For the beam model, the order-three expanded equation of motion has been determined in a form amenable to a perturbation treatment. The equation of motion is derived by a special Cosserat theory. The method of multiple scales is used to determine the equations that describe to the first-order modulation of the amplitude of simply supported beam. The stability and the bifurcation points of the system are investigated applying the frequency response function.

In this study the solubility of cholesterol was examined with ginseng saponin and chemical saponin used in the preparation of reaction mixture of 0.15M NaCl solution. It was shown that the solubility of cholesterol varied in the concentration of ginseng saponins and in the temperature and that the osmotic pressure and the surface tension was amenable to changes in the concentration of ginseng saponins and the incubation period of the reaction mixture. From the results, it was revealed that the solubility of cholesterol was dependent upon the incubated times and the concentration of ginseng saponins in 0.15mM NaCl solution and that ginseng saponins have the cholesterol solubilizing effect as evidenced in the physicochemical properties of mixed micelle formation and surface-activity.

Due to the importance of lead time demand in the design of inventory management systems, researchers and practitioners have paid continuous attention and a few analytic models using the compound distribution approach have been reported. However, since the nature of compound distributions is hardly amenable, the analytic models have been done by non‐recognition of the compound nature of some components to reduce the analytic task. This study concerns some of the important aspects in the analytic models. Through the theoretic examination of the analytic model approach and the comparison with the rigid compound stochastic process approach, this study clarifies the assumptions implicitly made by the analytic models and provides some precautions in using the analytic models. Illustrative examples are also presented.
