This paper proposes a solution approach to linear problems with many constraints of variable upper bound (VUB) type. This type of constraints are commonly found in various scheduling type problems for which tighter bounds are essential to achieve an efficiency in enumeration. An analytical framework based on factorization is adopted to devise a solution approach to the problem and extend it for more generalized VUB problem (GVUB). This research shows why the VUB type constraints are amenable to the factorization and gives a unified approach to generalized upper bound(GUB) problems, VUB problems and GVUB problems. Implementation issues are also included.

A combined clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit with adaptive cancellation of data-dependent jitter (DDJ) is constructed in all-digital architecture which is amenable to deep submicron technology. The DDJ canceller uses an adaptive FIR filter to compen-sate for any unknown channel characteristic. The proposed CDR decreases jitter in the recovered clock since the DDJ canceller significantly cancels out incoming jitter caused by inter-symbol interference.

One of the major challenges confronting a multiservice electric utility is the establishment of the right prices, for its services. The key objectives of particular pricing schemes are reasonableness of company earnings. Economic efficiency, the responsiveness of supply and of the allocation of sources to the desires of consumers, and maintenance of some degree of competition. This paper proposes a value-based pricing mechanism amenable to the current deregulation situation in electricity market allowing service differentiation. The proposed pricing mechanism can be implemented ina nodal auction model, and can also be applied to direct load control.

Korean government has been preparing the introduction of Emission Trading as part of the framework convention on Climate Change as a relief of negative downstream effect over electricity industry. This paper develops a mathematical model amenable to analyzing the economic impact of introduced emission trading system on the national generation expansion planning. The developed model was also employed with a case study to verify its applicability.

Newly developed modal transmission-line theory(MTLT) is used to analyze rigorously the optical power distribution in grating-assisted directional couplers(GADCs) with three guiding channels. By defining a novel coupling efficiency ${\eta}$ amenable to the rigorous analytical solutions of modal transmission-line theory, we explicitly evaluate the power coupling and distribution of TM modes. The results reveal that the incident power is sensitively partitioned through three output channels in terms of such grating parameters as the grating period, the duty cycle, and the operating wavelength.

We study continuous fields and K-groups of crossed products of C＊-algebras. It is shown under a reasonable assumption that there exist continuous fields of C＊ -algebras between crossed products of C＊ -algebras by amenable locally compact groups and tensor products of C＊ -algebras with their group C＊ -algebras, and their K-groups are the same under the additional assumptions.

We define a new concept of module amenability which is compatible with original definition of amenability. For a module dual algebra 𝓐, we will show that if every module derivation D : 𝓐** → J𝓐**⊥ is inner then 𝓐 is weak module amenable. Moreover, we will prove that under certain conditions, weak module amenability of 𝓐** implies weak module amenability of 𝓐.

The application of Green's function in calculation of flow characteristics around submerged and floating bodies due to a regular wave is presented. It is assumed that the fluid is homogeneous, inviscid and incompressible, the flow is irrotational and all body motions are small. Two methods based on the boundary integral equation method (BIEM) are applied to solve associated problems. The first is a low order panel method with triangular flat patches and uniform distribution of velocity potential on each panel. The second method is a high order panel method in which the kernels of the integral equations are modified to make it nonsingular and amenable to solution by the Gaussian quadrature formula. The calculations are performed on a submerged sphere and some floating spheroids of different aspect ratios. The excellent level of agreement with the analytical solutions shows that the second method is more accurate and reliable.

Storage over Ethernet (SoE) is a network storage architecture that allows direct attachment of existing ATA/ATAPI devices to Ethernet without a separate server. Unlike SAN, no server computer intervenes between the storage and the client hosts. We propose a SoE disk controller (SoEDC) amenable to low-cost, single-chip implementation that processes a simplified L3/L4 protocol and converts commands between Ethernet and ATA/ATAPI, while the rest of the complex tasks are performed by the remote hosts. Thanks to simple architecture and protocol, the SoEDC implemented on a single $4mm{\times}4mm$ chip in 0.18um CMOS technology achieves maximum throughput of 55MB/s on Gigabit Ethernet, which is comparable to that of a high-performance disk storage locally attached to a host computer.

Ebstein`s anomaly had been amenable to reparative surgery since 1962. However, neither the role of surgery in Ebstein`s anomaly nor the surgical procedure of choice for its correction are clearly defined. Whether or not the atrialized right ventricle, which plays a major role in the functional abnormalities, should be obliterated in all cases remains unsolved. Four cases of Ebstein`s anomaly treated surgically at Seoul National University Hospital were reported. All had closure of the atrial septal defect, obliteration of the atrialized right ventricle by plication, and insertion of a tricuspid bioprosthesis and an epicardial ventricular pacemaker. One patient had a pulmonic valvotomy due to stenotic bicuspid pulmonic valve also. All but one had discharged with a good result.
