  • In this study, tensile adhesive strength(TAS) test was carreid out for evaluated the effects of temperature conditions (-20, -10, 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, $40^{\circ}C$) on the tensile adhesive characteristics about 4 type waterproofing membranes which were commercially used in bridge decks. And, failure appeariences of waterproofing systems in each temperature after TAS test were observed the sawing surfaces of waterproofing systems for whether or not damaged of waterproofing membranes. Also, correction coefficient of TAS with temperature were calculated using 4 type waterproofing membrane. It could be shown that the higher TAS and shear adhesive strength, the lower temperature, regardless of the type of waterproofing membrane. Temperature sensibility of TAS was especially remarkable in epoxy membrane. Failure type was occurred the ductile failure in $30^{\circ}C\;and\;40^{\circ}C$. From these results, it was shown that if ambient temperature above $30^{\circ}C$ maintains for a long time, waterproofing membrane will be deformed by softening. Otherwise, waterproofing membrane in temperature below $20^{\circ}C$ shown that occurred the brittle failure. From the results of visual observation of cutting surface for specimen, the thin waterproofing membranes shown indented by hot aggregate of the asphalt mixtures. Therefore, it could be known that the specification of waterproofing membrane thickness is necessary by waterproofing membrane type. As temperature change varied with pavement depth, the interface temperature was more important than ambient temperature in TAS test. Now, TAS test results were limited only in $-10^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$ temperature, but correction coefficient of TAS by ambient temperature could be used as a solution to deal with this problem.

  • This study was conducted to determine the impact of elevated temperature based on climate change scenario on growth and bulb quality of extremely early-maturing onion (Allium cepa L. cv. Singsingball) in the temperature gradient tunnels. There were treated with 3 groups, one is a control group (ambient temperature, mean temperature at $9.8^{\circ}C$), another ambient temperature $+2^{\circ}C$ (mean temperature at $12.0^{\circ}C$), and the other ambient temperature $+5^{\circ}C$ (mean temperature at $14.3^{\circ}C$). Compared with the control, plant height, neck diameter, leaf area, top fresh weight and dry weight were significantly increased at ambient $+2^{\circ}C$ temperature. Bulb diameter and bulb weight was highest at ambient $+2^{\circ}C$ temperature (mean temperature at $12.0^{\circ}C$) during the growth period. Bulb/neck diameter ratio, over 2.0 a good indicator of development of bulb, increased rapidly at ambient $+2^{\circ}C$ temperature. This result suggests that extremely early-maturing onion (Allium cepa L. cv. Singsingball) could maintain the higher productivity and bulb quality at ambient $+2^{\circ}C$ temperature. On the contrary, $5^{\circ}C$ higher than atmospheric temperature shows negative effects on yields under a future climate change scenario.

  • Heat conditioning at an early age has been known to help chickens cope with heat stress later in life. The present study was conducted to determine the effects of heat conditioning at 5 days of age in broilers repeatedly exposed to high ambient temperature later in life. A total of 256 day-old Arbor Acre boiler chicks were housed in two identical rooms with a 23-h light/1-h dark cycle and provided with feed and water ad libitum. At 5 days of age, the birds in one room were exposed to $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours, while those in the other room served as controls. On day 21, half of the birds in each room were moved into the other room so that each room contained both control and heat-conditioned birds. After a 7-day adaptation period, the birds in one room were exposed to high ambient temperature ($21^{\circ}C{\rightarrow}31^{\circ}C$) for 3 days, whereas those in the other room were kept at normal temperature. The same 3-day exposure to high ambient temperature was repeated two weeks later. Hence, there were four treatment groups (CON+CON: control+control; CON+HS: control+high ambient temperature; HC+CON: heat conditioning+control; and HC+HS: heat conditioning+high ambient temperature). Repeated heat stress resulted in decreased feed intake, water intake, body weight gain, and spleen weight (p<0.05) and increased rectal temperature (p<0.05), mortality, and plasma corticosterone concentrations. The relative weight of the spleen was increased in the heat-conditioned group (p<0.05). Plasma biochemicals were also influenced by high temperature. Thus, no beneficial effects of heat conditioning at an early age were detected in broilers repeatedly exposed to high ambient temperature later in life.

  • Full-scale experimental study and numerical analysis on behaviors and failure mechanisms of full high strength steel extended endplate connections in fire have been carried out and presented in this paper. The experimental behaviors of the connections were compared with the provisions of Eurocode 3. The test results show that the failure modes of the connections in fire are bolt failure with yielding of the flange, as same as those at ambient temperature. The failures of the bolts in fire are ductile while they are brittle at ambient temperature. The rotation capacity of the connections in fire is proved sufficient. What is more, at elevated temperature $550^{\circ}C$, the plastic moment resistances of Q690 and Q960 full high strength steel endplate connections are only 40% of those at ambient temperature, while their initial rotation stiffness are 66 and 63% respectively. But the rotation capacities of Q690 and Q960 high strength steel endplate connections are 1.38 and 1.74 times of those at ambient temperature. Moreover, it is found that the component method Eurocode 3 proposed based on connections made of mild steels can be used to calculate plastic resistances and to predict failure modes of high strength steel endplate connections in fire, but it is not suitable to predict their stiffness. The suggestions about rotation capacity of connections in Eurocode 3 are found too conservative for high strength steel endplate connections in fire.

  • In our study, we collected data from a 100 kW floating photovoltaic (PV) system installed in Gyeongnam Hapcheon Dam and observed correlations between the power generation of the floating PV system and the irradiance, water temperature, humidity, ambient temperature, wind speed, and module temperature. Firstly, there was little correlation between the water temperature and power generation. Secondly, the ambient temperature, wind speed, and humidity all showed greater correlations with power generation. Finally, the power generation was very highly correlated with the irradiance and module temperature. In conclusion, the power generation of the floating PV system is related individually to environmental factors.

  • The droplet behavior of 83.9 wt.% HAN water solution was investigated experimentally with various ambient temperature and nitrogen environment. At the initial stage of evaporation under thermal decomposition temperature of HAN, gradual decreasing of droplet diameter was observed. After that, the droplet started to expand due to the internal pressure build up by water nucleation inside the droplet. The micro explosion was observed at higher temperature than the decomposition temperature of HAN and the remaining droplet showed similar behavior of single composition droplet. The decreasing rate was augmented as the ambient temperature increasing.

  • The purpose of this study was to review the factors that influence on the combustion experiment of oxidizing solid such as mixing ratio of oxidizing solid and combustible support content ratio of oxidizing solid, ambient temperature, maturing time, combustible support, and additives. The 30g mixing compound samples of oxidizing solid and combustible support were tested with different mixing ratios. As a result, the Infest burning time was measured when mixing ratio was 4 (oxidizing solid) : 1 (combustible support). And the burning time was decreasing as the ambient temperature and maturing time were increasing.

  • Hard disk drives operate in various environmental conditions. Thus, it is necessary to assess the reliability of the head/disk interface under these conditions. In this work, stiction and acoustic emission signals were investigated under different temperature, humidity, and ambient pressure conditions. Also, track average amplitude was observed for disk failure in N$_2$environment. It is shown that failure of the head/disk interface occurs more readily at high temperature and low ambient pressure conditions.

  • It is essential that hard disk drives perform reliable under various temperature, humidity, and ambient pressure conditions. In this paper the tribological characteristics of a head/disk interface are investigated under various environmental conditions. Specially, Contact-Start-Stop(CSS) tests were performed to assess the stiction and slider take-off behavior. It is shown that the surface damage is accelerated by high temperature and humidity as well as low ambient pressure.
