선저부 공기공동을 이용한 실선선형의 저항성능 개선을 위한 선저형상 개량연구 (On the Suitable Shape of Bottom for the Application of Air Cavity on Hull Bottom to the Practical Hull Form)

  • 본 논문에서는 충주호에서 유람선으로 사용되고 있는 광폭천흘수형 선박을 대상으로 선정하고, 공기를 공급하여 선저에 공동을 형성시켜 마찰저항을 감소시킬 수 있도록 선박의 선저형상을 개량하였다. 2차원 공동문제로 이상화하여 선저에 부착되는 공동을 이론적 방법으로 수치해석하여 공기공동의 형상과 내부압력을 추정하였고 공동현상을 지배하는 무차원수를 살펴보았다. 예인수조에서 모형선실험을 시행하고 단의 높이변화, 선측의 공기유출막이벽 등에 의한 공기공동의 형성과 저항감소효과를 조사하였다. 또한 투명한 아크릴로 제작된 선저부를 통해, 선저에 부착되는 공기공동의 발달과정을 관측하였다. 이러한 연구를 통하여, 실선선형의 선저부 형상을 적절히 개량하고 공기를 공급함으로써 설계속도 부근에서 원래선형의 전저항의 25%정도를 줄일 수 있음을 모형선에서 확인하였다.

조사면내 공동의 존재에 따른 선량분포의 변화측정 (The Measurement of Dose Distribution in the Presence of Air Cavity and Underdosing Effect Result from Lack of Electronic Equilibrium)

  • When high energy photon beam is incident upon an air cavity interface the effect of ionization build-up observed . This phenomenon is resulting from the surface layers of the lesions are significant deficiency of electrons reaching the layers because of the replacement, of solid scattering material by the air cavity, that is lack of electronic equilibrium. Measurement have been made in an acrylic phantom with a parallel plate chamber and high energy photon beams, CO-60, 4MV, 6MV and 10MV X-rays have been investigated. The result of our study show that a significant effect was measured and was determined to be very dependent on field size, air cavity dimension and photon energy. The reductions were much larger for 10MV beam, underdosage at the interface was 12, 12.2, 16.9 and $20.6\%$ for the CO-60, 4MV, 6MV and 10MV, respectively. It was found that this non-equilibrium effect at the interface is more severe for the higher energy beams than that of lower energy beams and the larger cavity dimensions the larger beam reductions occur. This problem is of clinical concern when lesions such as carcinoma beyond air cavities are irradiated, such as larynx, glottic and the patients with maxillectomy and ethmoidectomy and so forth.

  • We have proposed and fabricated a new poly-Si TFT employing air-cavities at the edges of gate oxide in order to reduce the vertical electric field induced near the drain due to low dielectric constant of air. Air-cavity has been successfully fabricated by employing the wet etching of gate oxide and APCVD (Atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition) oxide deposition. Our experimental results show that the leakage current of the proposed TFT is considerably reduced by the factor of 10 and threshold voltage shift under high gate bias is also reduced because the carrier injection into gate insulator over the drain depletion region is suppressed.

  • 스크램제트의 연소실 내부로 유입되는 공기의 속도는 초음속으로 체류 시간은 수 ms로 매우 짧다. 이 짧은 시간 안에 연료분사, 공기-연료 혼합, 연소과정이 모두 이루어져야 한다. 공기와 연료의 혼합을 증대하는 방법은 여러 가지가 제시되었다. 이중 자유류 마하수 2.5의 단일 수직 분사 방법에서의 Cavity를 이용한 혼합 특성올 알아보기 위해 수치해석을 수행하였다. 사용된 코드는 동일조건의 실험결과와 비교하여 검증하였고 이를 통해 Cavity의 크기에 의한 혼합증대를 확인할 수 있었다.

경사진 3차원 캐비티내 자연대류현상에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on Slanted Cubical-Cavity Natural Convection)

  • Natural convection flows in a cubical air-filled slanted cavity that has one pair of opposing faces isothermal at different temperatures, $T_h\;and\;T_c$, respectively, the remaining four faces having a linear variation from $T_c\;toT_h$ are numerically simulated by a solution code (PowerCFD) using unstructured cell-centered method. Special attention is paid to three-dimensional flow and thermal characteristics according to a new orientation (diamond type) for the cubical-cavity benchmark problem in natural convection. Comparisons of the average Nusselt number at the cold face are made with experimental benchmark solutions found in the literature. It is found that the code is capable of producing accurately the nature of the laminar convection in a cubical air-filled slanted cavity with differentially heated walls.

  • High-speed heavy loaded monohull ships can benefit from application of drag-reducing air cavities under stepped hull bottoms. The subject of this paper is the steady hydrodynamic modeling of semi-planing air-cavity hulls. The current method is based on a linearized potential-flow theory for surface flows. The mathematical model description and parametric calculation results for a selected configuration with pressurized and open air cavities are presented.

스크램제트 엔진 내부 Cavity 형상 변화에 따른 혼합 성능 특성 (Mixing Characteristics of Various Cavity Shapes in SCRamjet Engine)

  • 공기흡입식 추진 기관인 스크램제트 엔진은 연소기 내부 유동이 초음속으로 유동장의 연소기 내부 체류 시간이 수 ms로 매우 짧다. 이 짧은 시간동안 연소과정이 모두 이루어져야 하므로 초음속 연소기술에 대한 연구는 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 초음속 연소 기술 중 연료-공기의 혼합을 증대시키는 방법에 관심을 두고 Cavity를 이용한 방법을 선택하여 높이를 10mm로 고정시키고 길이를 변화시켰으며, Cavity 후류에서 지름 1mm의 분사구를 통해 음속 let을 분사시키는 유동장을 형성하여 3차원 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 통해 점성 유동장을 해석하였다. 해석 결과 Cavity 길이/높이비(L/H)가 클수록 Vorticity가 값이 증가하였고 Vorticity의 증가 영역이 유동장의 위, 옆 방향으로 확장되는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 하지만 Vorticity가 증가하는 만큼 추력특성을 떨어뜨리는 정체압력 손실이 증가하므로 연소기 설계 시 최대의 혼합과 최소의 정체압력 손실을 고려한 최적 형상 설계가 필요하다는 것을 확인하였다.

Fabrication Tolerance of InGaAsP/InP-Air-Aperture Micropillar Cavities as 1.55-㎛ Quantum Dot Single-Photon Sources

  • A practical single photon source for fiber-based quantum information processing is still lacking. As a possible 1.55-㎛ quantum-dot single photon source, an InGaAsP/InP-air-aperture micropillar cavity is investigated in terms of fabrication tolerance. By properly modeling the processing uncertainty in layer thickness, layer diameter, surface roughness and the cavity shape distortion, the fabrication imperfection effects on the cavity quality are simulated using a finite-difference time-domain method. It turns out that, the cavity quality is not significantly changing with the processing precision, indicating the robustness against the imperfection of the fabrication processing. Under thickness error of ±2 nm, diameter uncertainty of ±2%, surface roughness of ±2.5 nm, and sidewall inclination of 0.5°, which are all readily available in current material and device fabrication techniques, the cavity quality remains good enough to form highly efficient and coherent 1.55-㎛ single photon sources. It is thus implied that a quantum dot contained InGaAsP/InP-air-aperture micropillar cavity is prospectively a practical candidate for single photon sources applied in a fiber-based quantum information network.

  • SCRamjet is the key technology for hypersonic flight over mach number 6. It is characterized by very short residence time in combustor because its internal flow is supersonic. In this short time, the whole process of combustion must be done. Especially numerical study of combustor is important because air-fuel mixing rate influences the performance of combustor. Various methods of air-fuel mixing enhancement are proposed. Among these, cavity injection method is selected to study in this paper. The numerical study is conducted with the variation of the cavity length at the fixed height of unit and jet injection on the downstream of cavity.

  • As a representative method for mass production, a multi-cavity type mold capable of simultaneously molding products of the same shape can be applied. It has the advantage of improving the productivity from several times to several tens of times, but it may cause disadvantages which is the quality deviation with each cavity. This study, therefore, has tried to increase the cavity filling balance by using a melt flipper and a flow distance control part in the runner part of the mold. Along with this, the design and manufacturing of air vents during injection molding have been verified through experimental methods to achieve a higher level of multi-cavity filling balance and dimensional accuracy.
