The bubble cavitation and cloud cavitation are the major sources of cavitation-induced sound and vibration. A numerical method which predicts the trajectory and volume change of a cavity is developed, to predict the cavitation noise of a body. It is shown, by using the numerical method, that the cavitation inception and events rate is strongly dependent on the screening effect caused by the pressure gradient around a body, which is confirmed experimentally. Additionally, the effectiveness of a cavitation control method utilizing air injection is investigated experimentally. It is demonstrated that the noise level of the cloud cavitation can be significantly reduced by the air-injection method.

Pneumoparotid is a rare cause of parotid gland swelling, and is caused by retrograde air reflux from the oral cavity, into the parotid gland via Stensen's duct. Most patients complained of painless swelling in the parotid region. Herein, we report a rare case of pneumoparotid, incidentally diagnosed without symptoms on CT, for follow-up of parotid lymph node enlargement.

An experimental study on energy density distributions produced by dish solar concentrating system was performed to optimally design and rightly position a cavity receiver. This deemed also very useful to find and correct various errors associated with a concentrator. It is observed that the actual focal length is 2.17 m with a maximum energy density of 1.89 MW/$m^2$. By evaluating the position of flux centroid, it was found that there are errors within 2 cm from the target center. As a result of the percent power within radius, approximately 90% of the incident radiation is intercepted by about 0.06 m radius. The area concentration ratio normalized to 800 W/$m^2$ insolation and 90% mirror reflectivity was 347 suns. The total integrated power of 2467 W was measured under focal flux distributions, which corresponds to the intercept rate of 85.8%.

Freezing of the binary solution ($H_2O-NaCl$) saturating a packed bed of spheres is investigated experimentally. The system is cooled through its top surface, and the bottom is maintained at a temperature above the liquidus. Experiments are performed on the hypolutectic side, and the cold wall temperature is lower than the eutectic point. The effects of initial mixture concentration, superheat and glass bead diameter on temperature and concentration distributions are investigated. Supercooling was observed only at early times of the freezing process for experiments with 5% initial salt concentration. Flow visualization experiments and mushy-liquid interface position observations revealed natural convection in the liquid region. Remelting phenomena was not observed at both the solid-mushy and mushy-liquid interfaces.

Thermal diode is a device which allows heat to be transferred in one direction by convection due to density difference of fluid ,and blocks heat flow in the opposite direction. It is simple in construction and low in cost. And so, it is used as heat collection system of solar energy. In order to acquire a basic design data, thermal diode heat collection system has been studied experimentally for flux Rayleigh numbers from $2\times10^8\;to\;8\times10^8$. The heat transfer rate of this system is shown 10~47% higher than that of other earlier research results. He correlation obtained in this study is Nu=0.0037(Ra^*)^{0.429}(d^*)^{0.05}\frac{(Lr)}{H}^{0.415}$.
Improvement in microwave absorbance has been investigated by insertion of a periodic air cavity in rubber composites filled with magnetic powders. A mixture of $Co_2Z$ hexagonal ferrite and Fe powders were used as the absorbent fillers in silicone rubber matrix. The complex permeability and complex permittivity of the magnetic composites were measured by reflection/transmission technique. In the grid-type magnetic absorbers, the equivalent permeability (${\mu}_{eq}$) and permittivity (${\varepsilon}_{eq}$) are calculated as a function of air volume rate (K) on the basis of effective medium theory. Reduction in the material parameters (especially, dielectric permittivity and magnetic loss) has been estimated with the increase of K. Plotting the ${\mu}_{eq}$ and ${\varepsilon}_{eq}$ on the solution map of wave-impedance matching, wide bandwidth microwave absorbance has been predicted in the magnetic composites with an optimum value of K.

Conjugate heat transfer (CHT) is the simultaneous, coupled heat transfer within a fluid and an adjoining solid, and the interface treatment plays an important role in its analysis, particularly when using unstructured grid system. In the present paper a new solid-fluid interface treatment in CHT analysis is presented and applied to two typical CHT problems, i.e. natural convections in both concentric thick-walled cylinders and cavity with a centered solid body. The present interface treatment for unstructured mesh clearly demonstrates the same accuracy and robustness as that for typical structured mesh.

Natural gas hydrate typically contains 85 wt.% water and 15 wt.% natural gas, and commonly belongs to cubic structure I and II. Also, 1m$^3$ hydrate of natural gas can be decomposed to 200 m$^3$ natural gas at standard condition. If this characteristic of hydrate is reversely utilized, natural gas is fixed into water and produced to hydrate. Therefore the hydrate is great as a means to transport and store natural gas. So, the tests were performed on the formation of natural gas hydrate is governed by the pressure, temperature, gas composition etc. The results show that the equilibrium pressure of structure II is approximately 65% lower and the solubility is about 3 times higher than structure I. Also if the subcoolings of structure I and structure II are more than 9 K and 11 K respectively, the hydrates are rapidly formed.

The motion of a fluid in the closed annular cavity formed by two concentric vertical cylinders with externally finned tube has been analysed by a numerical solutions of the equation of momentum and energy. For the calculation procedure, the fluid is assumed to have constant thermo-dynamic and transporties except for the density, which is temperature-dependent in the buoyancy term of the vertical momentum equation (Boussinesq approximation). The govern ins equations for velocity and temperature are solved by a finite difference technique which incoorporates a scheme for treating the coupled variables. Results are presented for a range of the Rayleigh number and for various values of the fin height and the number of fins.

Numerical solutions of two-dimensional, steady, and natural are investigated in a confined rectangular cavity with porous media. The saturated fluid is bounded by two isothermal vertical walls at different temperatures and two adiabatic horizontal walls. Governing equations are numerically solved by finite difference method with the up wind scheme. Distributions of streamline and temperature we. predicted for aspect ratios ranging from 0.1 to 1.0, Rayleigh numbers 50 to $10^4$, and tilt angles $0^{\circ}\;to\;60^{\circ}$. Representative plots of temperature and velocity field according to tilt angle are presented. The effects of aspect ratio, Rayleigh number, and tilt angle on local and average Nusselt numbers are obtained. The optimum conditions for maximum Nusselt number are also presented with tilt angles.
