This research investigates the pivotal role of AI-enabled technologies in vitalizing the local economy. Collaborating with a leading search engine company, we examine the direct and indirect of an AI-based location search service on the success of sampled 7,035 local restaurants in Gangnam area in Seoul. We find that increased use of AI-enabled search and recommendation services significantly improved the selections of previously less-discovered or less-popular restaurants by users, and it also enhanced the stores' overall conversion rates. The main research findings have contributions to extant literature in theorizing the value of AI applications in local economy and have managerial implications for search businesses and local stores by recommending strategic use of AI applications in their businesses that are effective in highly competitive markets.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will likely affect various fields of medicine. This article aims to explain the fundamental principles of clinical validation, device approval, and insurance coverage decisions of AI algorithms for medical diagnosis and prediction. Discrimination accuracy of AI algorithms is often evaluated with the Dice similarity coefficient, sensitivity, specificity, and traditional or free-response receiver operating characteristic curves. Calibration accuracy should also be assessed, especially for algorithms that provide probabilities to users. As current AI algorithms have limited generalizability to real-world practice, clinical validation of AI should put it to proper external testing and assisting roles. External testing could adopt diagnostic case-control or diagnostic cohort designs. A diagnostic case-control study evaluates the technical validity/accuracy of AI while the latter tests the clinical validity/accuracy of AI in samples representing target patients in real-world clinical scenarios. Ultimate clinical validation of AI requires evaluations of its impact on patient outcomes, referred to as clinical utility, and for which randomized clinical trials are ideal. Device approval of AI is typically granted with proof of technical validity/accuracy and thus does not intend to directly indicate if AI is beneficial for patient care or if it improves patient outcomes. Neither can it categorically address the issue of limited generalizability of AI. After achieving device approval, it is up to medical professionals to determine if the approved AI algorithms are beneficial for real-world patient care. Insurance coverage decisions generally require a demonstration of clinical utility that the use of AI has improved patient outcomes.
The purpose of this study is to develop a machine learning-based AI convergence class model and class design principles that can foster data literacy in high school students, and to develop detailed guidelines accordingly. We developed a machine learning-based teaching model, design principles, and detailed guidelines through research on prior literature, and applied them to 15 students at a specialized high school in Seoul. As a result of the study, students' data literacy improved statistically significantly (p<.001), so we confirmed that the model of this study has a positive effect on improving learners' data literacy, and it is expected that it will lead to related research in the future.
Purpose: With the advent of the era of the 4th industrial revolution, called a new technological revolution, the necessity of fostering future talents equipped with AI utilization capabilities is emerging. However, there is a lack of research on AI education design and competency-based education curriculum as education for business major. The purpose of this study is to design AI education to cultivate competency-oriented AI literacy for business major in universities. Research design, data and methodology: For the design of AI basic education in business major, three expert Delphi surveys were conducted, and a demand analysis and specialization strategy were established, and the reliability of the derived design contents was verified by reflecting the results. Results: As a result, the main competencies for cultivating AI literacy were data literacy, AI understanding and utilization, and the main detailed areas derived from this were data structure understanding and processing, visualization, web scraping, web crawling, public data utilization, and concept of machine learning and application. Conclusions: The educational design content derived through this study is expected to help establish the direction of competency-centered AI education in the future and increase the necessity and value of AI education by utilizing it based on the major field.
Generative AI has arrived and it's here. Education, research, industry, and labor are all on edge about the changes it will bring. It is noteworthy that while there is a wide range of optimistic and pessimistic predictions about the impact of generative AI, there is more concern than hope when it comes to education. This paper focuses on the lack of discussion on the impact of AI in higher education. First, we reviewed the process of the emergence of generative AI and introduced how the impact of AI is being understood from various perspectives. Second, we classified work areas based on expertise and efficiency and analyzed the impact of AI on work in each area. Finally, the study found that the educational perception of generative AI and the way it is perceived for engineering education purposes can be very different. It also argued that there is a lack of active discussion and debate on areas that need to be specifically discussed around generative AI. This has led to a phenomenon known as professors' delayed indifference. We emphasized that it is time for a serious and realistic discussion on the connection and integration of AI and education.
Objective: This study investigated the differences in preschool children's perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) and their distribution by latent profiles according to their experience with AI robots in daycare centers. Methods: The participants included 119 five-year-old children, 52 of whom had experience with AI robots in daycare centers and 67 of whom did not. Children's perceptions of AI were measured using the Godspeed scale from Bartneck et al.(2009). Data were analyzed using a t-test, latent profile analysis, and chi-square test. Results: The results showed that compared to the inexperienced group, the experienced group reported lower levels of animacy and perceived intelligence of AI robots, indicating higher levels of AI knowledge and understanding. In addition, the experienced group had a higher probability of belonging to the 'machine recognition' type than 'organism recognition' type, although the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion/Implications: The findings suggest that experience with AI robots in daycare centers can improve children's AI knowledge and understanding. To further enhance this effect, it is necessary to increase the number of robots put into classrooms, and to consider various teaching media that reflect children's preferences.
Purpose -In general, elementary school is the time to take the first social step away from family relationships with parents or siblings. Recently, AI technology has been widely used in everyday life and society. The purpose of this study is to propose a program that can cultivate AI literacy and self-expression for elementary school students according to the trend of the times. Research design, data, and methodology - In this study, prior to developing a self-expression class program for cultivating AI literacy, we looked at the related literature on what AI literacy is. In addition, the digital learning program was analyzed considering that the current AI literacy is based on the cutting edge of digital technology and is located in the same area as digital literacy. Result -This study developed a curriculum for self-expression and AI literacy cultivation. The main feature of this study is that the education program of this study allows 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders of elementary school to express themselves and to express their career problems by combining culture and art with AI programs. Conclusion -Self-expression activity education for cultivating AI literacy should be oriented toward holistic education and should be education as a way to express oneself in order to improve the quality of life of learners

Governments around the world are enacting laws mandating explainable traceability when using AI(Artificial Intelligence) to solve real-world problems. HAI(Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence) is an approach that induces human decision-making through Human-AI collaboration. This research presents a case study that implements the Human-AI collaboration to achieve explainable traceability in governmental data analysis. The Human-AI collaboration explored in this study performs AI inferences for generating labels, followed by AI interpretation to make results more explainable and traceable. The study utilized an example dataset from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to reproduce the Human-AI collaboration process used in actual policy-making, in which the Ministry of Science and ICT utilized R&D PIE(R&D Platform for Investment and Evaluation) to build a government investment portfolio.
