Background: Once limited with face-to face courses, health education has now moved into the web environment after new developments in information technology This study was carried out in order to give training to the university academic and administrative female staff who have difficulty in attending health education planned for specific times and places. The web-supported training focuses on healthy diet, the importance of physical activity, damage of smoking and stress management. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out in Sakarya University between the years 2012-2013 as a descriptive and quasi experimental study. The sample consisted of 30 participants who agreed to take part in the survey, filled in the forms and completed the whole training. The data were collected via a "Personel Information Form", "Health Promotion Life-Style Profile (HPLSP)", and "Multiple Choice Questionnaire (MCQ). Results: There was a statistically significant difference between the total points from "Health Promotion Life-Style Profile" and the total points from the sub-scale after and before the training (t=3.63, p=0.001). When the points from the multiple choice questionnaire after and before training were compared, it was seen that the average points were higher after the training (t=8.57, p<0.001). Conclusions: It was found that web-supported health training has a positive effect on the healthy living behaviour of female staff working at a Turkish university and on their knowledge of health promotion.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the changes of life skills of elementary school students who practice kumdo. For this, 579 elementary school students were studied, and exploratory factor analysis, reliability test, and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted. After that, we conceptualized the life skills of elementary school students who practice kumdo. Based on these results, one-way MANOVA was conducted to analyze the difference in life skills perceived by elementary school students according to sex and career. The results are as follows. First, the elementary school students' life skill developed through the kumdo training showed four factors: personality, social skills, problem solving skills, and health care. Second, there was no gender difference of life skill according to the kumdo training, and there were differences in social skill and health care depending on the experience of kumdo training. In addition, life skill factors influencing daily life satisfaction of elementary school students practicing kumdo were social skills, problem solving skills, and character.

Objectives: The study purpose is to develop a content system for a healthy dietary education program for after-school care in lower grade in elementary school. Methods: The contents of healthy dietary education in the 2015 revised curriculum and textbooks and the major education programs related to dietary life that are currently used in elementary school education were analyzed. Focus group interviews were held with field experts related to lower grade in elementary care class. Accordingly, the structuring of the education area and the detailed education contents were systematized. Results: From the analysis results, the contents of curriculum, textbook, and administrative department were classified as hygiene safety, health, and culture. The goal of the educational content system was divided into three areas: nutritional dietary life, food hygiene and health, and food culture. The subjects consisted of dietary balance, healthy body weight, digestion and absorption, food hygiene, Korean agricultural products, traditional food, and table manners. The curriculum was composed of 12 content elements. Conclusions: In order to ensure that after-school care students can grow into healthy, growth-oriented and creative talents, the role of the caring guide is important, and associated guidelines are needed in the future.
PURPOSE. Prevention of xerostomia and stress is important to prolong healthy life expectancy and improve the quality of life. We aimed to investigate the effects of tongue rotation exercise for increasing salivary secretions and stabilizing salivary stress hormone levels. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Twenty four participants without subjective oral dryness were enrolled. The exercises comprised tongue rotation exercise and empty chewing. The salivary stress hormone level was measured using a Salivary Amylase Monitor. Unstimulated whole saliva volume and salivary amylase activity were measured before tongue rotation exercise or empty chewing and subsequently 5, 10, and 15 minutes after these exercises. Differences in the rates of change of unstimulated whole saliva volume and salivary amylase activity were analyzed by repeated measure analysis of variance. RESULTS. Statistically significant differences among the rates of change were not observed after empty chewing for unstimulated whole saliva volume and salivary amylase activity at the four measurement times. However, the rate of change of unstimulated whole saliva volume and salivary amylase activity were statistically significantly different among the four time points: before the tongue rotation exercise and 5, 10, and 15 minutes post-exercise (P<.05 and P<.01, respectively). CONCLUSION. Tongue rotation is effective in increasing saliva secretion, reducing stress, improving oral function, and extending healthy life expectancy.
Bacillus velezensis BS2 was isolated from meongge (common sea squirt) jeotgal, a Korean fermented seafood, and produces a bacteriocin, BacBS2, which strongly inhibits Listeria monocytogenes and Bacillus cereus. BacBS2 was partially purified by Q-Sepharose column chromatography after ammonium sulfate precipitation of the culture supernatant, then further purified by Sephadex G-50 column chromatography. Partially purified BacBS2 was estimated to be 6.5 kDa in size by Tricine-SDS PAGE and activity detection by gel-overlay. Enzyme treatment and FT-IR spectrum of partially purified BacBS2 confirmed its proteinaceous nature. BacBS2 was fully stable at pH 4-9, and half of activity was retained at pH 1-3. Full activity was retained after exposure to $80^{\circ}C$ for 15 min, but half of the activity was retained upon exposure to $90^{\circ}C$ for 15 min or $100^{\circ}C$for 10 min. BacBS2 inhibited L. monocytogenes by bactericidal mode of action. B. velezensis BS2 and its BacBS2 seem useful as biopreservatives for fermented foods such as jeotgal.

Purpose: This study was aimed to examine the effects of smartphone overuse and individual factors including age, relationship with friends, satisfaction with school life, and time of smartphone usage on perceived cognitive functions, fatigue, and daytime sleepiness among college students. Methods: Three-hundred college students were recruited after confirming the absence of major depressive symptoms. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Results: Smartphone overuse commonly explained the variance in perceived cognitive functions, fatigue, and daytime sleepiness, after controlling for individual factors. In addition, satisfaction with school life was significantly related with better effectiveness of cognitive functions while being male, having good relationships with friends and satisfaction with school life were relatively associated with a lower level of fatigue. Conclusion: The findings of this study revealed that the overuse of smartphone can serve as a psycho-cognitive burden leading to ineffective functioning in daily living. Students who are female and have issues regarding school life and friendship may be a high risk group for experiencing psycho-cognitive dysfunction associated with smartphone overuse. Further investigation is needed to develop effective interventions to improve psycho-cognitive health associated with the excessive use of smartphone in young adults.
Background: Researchers have previously commenced examining the degree of concordance between parent proxy and child self-reports on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of many disease and impairment populations. Objects: To explore the differences between parent proxy and child self-reports on the HRQOL using Korean version of KIDSCREEN-10 questionnaires for applying to elementary school children and their parents who participated for a school-based wellness program. Methods: The focus groups were recruited for a school-based wellness program by implementing the following wellness services: 1) referring to a screening session for detecting potential posture-related musculoskeletal problems and 2) recommending home exercise programs. Before a primary field testing for the program, two focus groups were formed with a group of 9 parents and their 9 elementary school children aged 8-10 years of age. The parent proxy and child self-report versions of KIDSCREEN-10 questionnaires were administered to both groups after completion of the wellness program. Item level Rasch rating scale analysis was applied to compute logit scales of KIDSCREEN-10 questionnaire. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) and scatterplot of item difficulty between two reports were analyzed. Results: For fit statistics of parent proxy report, all items except 4 items (i.e., psychological well-being, mood/emotions, self-perception, parent relation) were found to be acceptable. For fit statistics of child self-report, all items except 3 items (i.e., psychological well-being, autonomy and home life) were acceptable. The relationship between two reports using ICCs were ranging from weak to very strong at p = 0.05 (i.e, ICCs = 0.011 to 0.905). Scatterplot analysis between two reports showed a major disparity on self-perception item at 95% confidence intervals. Conclusion: Both item level analyses and ICC comparisons provided a disparity between parent proxy and child self-reports of the HRQOL on self-perception item after competing a school-based wellness program. Therapist should consider the item as part of the HRQOL assessment.

Right heart failure is a relatively common complication after left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. Severe right heart failure can be managed by temporary right ventricular assist device (RVAD) implantation. However, trans-sternal RVAD insertion requires a subsequent third sternotomy for cannula removal. Herein, we present a case of RVAD insertion via a left anterior mini-thoracotomy after LVAD implantation in a patient with alcohol-induced cardiomyopathy.
Objectives : It examines influence of satisfaction with dental esthetics upon quality of life related to oral health after examining the satisfaction with dental esthetics and the quality of life related to oral health according to subjective perception. Methods : The subjects who have experience of dental esthetics from June 2010 to August 2010 in 50 places of hospitals and clinics with dental esthetics in Seoul, which were selected with convenience sampling, the structured questionnaire was widely distributed to 315 people who agreed to research. After making the subjects respond with self-reported method, data was collected. 298 copies except 17 copies were used in the final analysis. Results : The better in the perceived general health group led to the higher satisfaction with orthodontic treatment(p=0.001). There was significant difference even in satisfaction with dental bleaching(p=0.030). The better in the perceived general health group led to the higher quality of life related to oral health(p=0.002). The subjective perception was indicated to have relationship with satisfaction at dental esthetics or quality of life related to oral health. The satisfaction with orthodontic treatment(${\beta}$=2.142, p=0.038) was indicated to be relevant factor of having influence upon quality of life related to oral health. Conclusion : As a result of analyzing partial correlation analysis by having subjective perception as control variable, the satisfaction with orthodontic treatment and the life quality related to oral health showed positive correlation.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a suicide prevention education program called "Life Talk Talk" among middle and high school students in D City. Methods: The educational content of the "Life Talk Talk" program was compiled through nine rounds of consultations and meetings with suicide prevention experts. Prior to the implementation of the program, consent was obtained from all research participants and their guardians. First , a pilot study was conducted with 100 middle and high school students located in D city, following which the present study was conducted from May to July 2023 with 1,400 middle and high school students in D city. The effects of the program were evaluated by assessing the changes in suicidal ideation, help-providing abilities, and suicide prevention knowledge in the data collected both before and after the education. Statistical analysis included frequency analysis and a paired-sample t-test. Results: The final analysis included 1,380 participants. In the general characteristics,, 1,079 people (78 %) answered "yes" to the question about suicide prevention education experience . The study found a significant decrease in suicidal attitudes (t=-8.92, p<.001) and significant improvements in emotional and cognitive attitudes of participants after the "Life Talk Talk" program . Additionally, all five items related to help-providing abilities (t=-23.83, p<.001) and suicide prevention knowledge (p<.001) showed significant improvement from before the program. Conclusion: The significance of this study lies in demonstrating the effectiveness of the "Life Talk Talk" suicide prevention education program in reducing suicidal attitudes as well as improving help-providing abilities and suicide prevention knowledge. Therefore, to enhance the effectiveness of suicide prevention education, it is essential to regularly implement concise and engaging educational programs that capture the attention of adolescents.
