  • In comtemporary interior design, hybrid form causes cognitive turnovers of aesthetics. Especially it offers much possibility to expression techniques in interior design and works as compound system, symbolic aggregate that makes and expands various meanings. The aesthetic ideology of hybrid design can be interpreted through the philosphic concept of art, sublime, reception, representation and explains expression techniques and characteristic in interior design through various transformation and meaning conversion. The expression techinique that is a form of openness, transcendental interpretation that exceed a dupilicate of meaning. can be classified as oxymoron, defamiliarization and interface. The characteristic that is based on those expressions appears as use of complex codes of visual images, decoding strategy, intertextuality of meaning. This research attitude can explain the thinking method of interior design by defining the epistemological scheme that is basically involved in expressional styles with characteristics of hybrid aesthetics. In order to be recognized as the object of aesthetics, hybrid has to be approached by interpretational methods of expression techniques. Consequently the characters of expression techniques in hybrid design can be investigated as one of the methodology in interior design plan.

  • Architectual environment in this study means a language and meaning complex which makes communication between human beings and environment possible. The purpose of this study is to propose a semiotic approach to analyze and examine meaning, as a semiotic system, and its effects, focusing on the generative meaning in the relationship between human beings and environment. For this purpose, it examines the academic status of modern semiotics in postmodernism and the possibility of its being metalanguatge for a study of a variety of cultural phenomena and desigv. It also provides two viewpoints as propositions for its analysis: it explains the necessity of environmental-discoursive attitude and social-semiotic viewpoint which understands environment as social-cultural reflectors. Finally, it provides framework and all the interpretative procedures for analysis of environmental meanings on the basis of the approach of semiotics of space. By applying the methods proposed this study to the case studies, it also proves validity of this approach and the potentialities of the application of semiotics. This study emphasizes not only denotative configuration of the architectural environment but also its connotative meanings. It maintains that designers, architects, and theorists should realize correctly today's changed value system and social and aesthetic paradigms. It also stresses the necessity of development of the new architectural language and meaning system.

  • This study is based on the way Kim Kwang Soo works, which reveals a strong expressive tone that is rare in Korean architecture. His work is not decorative and symbolic representation of the intention of positive amusement. Therefore, the following noteworthy points will arise. The various phenomena associated with architecture and society are researched and analyzed in a critical manner. So, it creates and expresses its own formal logic. In this study, the theory of the subversive appropriation theory was identified by using the expressive characteristics of engagement. The study was based on a conceptual framework for the overturning of the mimesis, which Benjamin and Adorno have described. From this, this study summarizes Kim Kwang Soo's nihilistic attitude, finding boundaries and crack points, and subversive expression as a new form of architectural formal logic as main characteristics of interpretation of works. The characteristics of subversive expression of Kim Kwang Soo architecture derived from this are as follows. It does not take an ideological approach to the dismantling of the internalization of traditional Korean architecture. Popular culture and social phenomena are used as materials for expression. These are structured sensibly with appropriated formal logic. Finally, the architectural position adhered to the limit of performativity was recognized as the dimension of new meaning generation.

  • $Ren{\acute{e}}$ Char and Yi Yuk-Sa have similarities to be accepted as representative poet of resistance in France and South Korea's history of literature. These similarities lead us to make a comparative study on two poets not having any positive influencing relationship. Their experiences as a independence fighter have a great effect on their whole works. This study applies concept of "Po-ethica" to compare features and values about their works. This concept anticipates ethical and existential throwbacks not an aesthetic throwback. Their poems are remarkable that they not only present a ethical perspectives surpassing the "lettrism" but also show the lyricism in poems of resistance surpassing patriotic and ideological appeal. This lyricism results from the pursuits of a true life not a confidence of the goodness. The similarities and differences in their works can be a clue for rediscovering the meaning and values of poems of resistance. Rilke said, "The Poem is the experience". Char's poems are more experiential than any other poet's poems. His poems of resistance show a personal life than deconstruction of discourse such as nationality and father land. On the other hand, Yuk-Sa's poems show a prospect of nature and the macrocosm. This naturalization of a resistance surpass a pastoral attitude of forgetting their phases of the times and reality. Therefore, their "Po-ethica" of resistance is valid today.

  • Changam, Lee Samman(1770~1845), who created his own handwriiting to be referred to as the three great writers of the late Joseon Dynasty, invented as the original 'Haengunyusu Typeface' and developed Calligraphy spirit of DonggugJinche in Honam province. He ultimately pursued the state of tonglyeong by raising the personality of 'writing is the person's personality' and the attitude of learning the old. Through the book chang-amseogyeol, he basically polished Haeseo of Han Dynasty and Wi Dynasty and emphasized that Haengseo and Choseo are done automatically when muscle strength and bone strength are established. And since calligraphy originated from 'nature', it goes through the 'Beobcheongwijin' spirit. After doing so, expressed the state of tonglyeong of " mubeob-ibeob ", the stage of reaching. In addition, Changam showed the aesthetic that you can get the novelty by pursuing the philosophy of 'Wu' and the 'beauty of Stupid and Lacking' based on LaoTzu and ChuangTzu. This is a philosophy that follows nature's logic to reveal nature's nature. And it is an aesthetic that protects his 'True Wu' without knowing and greedy. On the other hand, Changam promoted natural and vital beauty through force in the method of using the brush. He suggested the 'Push and Hard' of the Han dynasty, pushing it with force using this power properly. In particular, the feeling of an IlunMujeog brush in 『Changam Calligraphy-The cloud stays Poem』 overflows with the vitality and bizarre and strange dynamism of the spirit and typeface as eum-yang harmonizes with each other. In addition, the beauty of Push and Hard containing polyeoghamse is misaligned, but it has achieved a natural aesthetic without invading. This work demonstrates the real look of Changam choseo. In addition, the beauty of Push and Hard containing polyeoghamse is misaligned, but it has achieved a natural aesthetic without invading. Changam proves the real look of "Haedong's best Chose Maestro".

  • This study analyzed literary works and references related to Dok-Rak-Dang(獨樂堂) and the attributes of managing the landscape in Dok-Rak-Dang Garden based on the assumption of position and the spatial structure revealed in the site. Hoe-Jae Lee Eon-Jeok(1491-1553), a distinguished scholar of Neo-Confusionism, built Dok-Rak-Dang and managed the surrounding areas during his retirement years. He called the mountains, stream, and rock along and near the Ja-Ge Stream Four Mountains and Five Platforms(四山五臺). Before he named these, they were not considered special. The Four Mountains which are Do-Duk in north, Mu-Hak in south, Hwa-Gae in east, and Ja-Ok in west enclose Dok-Rak-Dang and the surrounding areas. The Five Platforms, Se-Sim, Gwan-Eo, Yeong-Gue, Jing-Sim, and Tak-Yeong, in order from downstream, are places with beautiful scenery in Ja-Ge Stream. The attributes of managing the landscape in Dok-Rak-Dang Garden are the following: One is the spatial integration of what is natural and artificial as the attitude of aesthetic experience in accord with nature. Another is flexible territorialization as the way of organizing spaces in nature from the experiential aspect. The other is place making of personalized nature through a series of processes such as observing, choosing, and naming landscapes in nature. Four Mountains and Five Platforms function as landscape bases and elements to appreciate nature aesthetically. Those attributes are different from the attitude of constructing spaces. Rather, they originate from the traditional view on the appreciation of nature. Above all, place-making in nature was acquired from designed spatial structure and experiential aesthetic appreciation in the space through observing, choosing, and naming landscapes in nature reflecting creator's own ideological and aesthetic thoughts, and it might be explained as one of practical ways of Korean traditional gardening.
