How can an automated essay scoring (AES) program, which provides feedback for essays, be a formative tool for improving ESL writing? In spite of the increasing demands for English writing proficiency, English writing instruction has not been effective for teaching and learning because of a lack of timely and accurate feedback. In this context, AES as a possible solution has been gaining the attention of educators and scholars in ESL/EFL writing education because it can provide consistent and prompt feedback for student writers. This experimental study examined the impact of different types of feedback for a college ESL writing program using the Criterion AES system. The results reveal the positive impact of AES in a college-level ESL course and differences between the teacher's feedback and the AES feedback. The findings suggest that AES can be effectively integrated into ESL writing instruction as a formative assessment tool.
Objectives : The purpose of study was estimation of adverse events [AEs] scale relating herbal medicine in Korea using Korean Medicine Utilization and Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey (National statistics No. 117087). Methods : Using microdata of Korean Medicine Utilization and Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey 2017, the number of inpatients and outpatients who experienced AEs was calculated. The microdata included AEs of all treatment methods that have been performed by visiting Korean medical institutions for one year, so set up the data into three models; model A (in case all treatments were only herbal medicine for one year), model B (in case herbal medicines were a part of all treatment methods in 1 year), model C (in case herbal medicines were a part of treatment methods at least one time in 1 year). The proportion of patients who experienced AEs during the last 1 year was calculated and then, the number of AEs relating herbal medicine was estimated. Results : A total of 1,010 outpatients and 904 inpatients were included in Korean Medicine Utilization and Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey 2017. The number of patients who had experienced AEs in the past 1 year was 0 in the model A, 9 in the model B (5 for outpatients, 4 for inpatients), and 19 in the model C (10 for outpatients, 9 for inpatients). By consideration for the complex sample survey, estimating the number of AEs relating herbal medicine, the model A was 0, the model B was 36,457 patients (0 to 75,526 patients), and the model C was 84,830 patients (26,314 to 143,347 patients). Conclusion : From the results of this study, it was possible to estimate the scale of AEs relating herbal medicines in Korea, suggesting that it is necessary to understand the actual condition of AEs and establish its management system.

This paper defines the AES password algorithm used as a symmetric-key-based password algorithm, and proposes the design of parallel password algorithm to utilize the resources of multi-core processor as much as possible. The proposed parallel password algorithm was confirmed for parallel execution of password computation by allocating the password algorithm according to the number of cores, and about 30% of performance increase compared to AES password algorithm. The encryption/decryption performance of the password algorithm was confirmed through binary comparative analysis tool, which confirmed that the binary results were the same for AES password algorithm and proposed parallel password algorithm, and the decrypted binary were also the same. The parallel password algorithm for multi-core environment proposed in this paper can be applied to authentication/payment of financial service in PC, laptop, server, and mobile environment, and can be utilized in the area that required high-speed encryption operation of large-sized data.

A compact and high-performance AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption/decryption processor is designed by applying various hardware sharing and optimization techniques. In order to achieve minimized hardware complexity, sharing the S-Boxes for round transformation with the key scheduler, as well as merging and reusing datapaths for encryption and decryption are utilized, thus the area of S-Boxes is reduced by 25%. Also, the S-Boxes which require the largest hardware in AES processor is designed by applying composite field arithmetic on $GF(((2^2)^2)^2)$, thus it further reduces the area of S-Boxes when compared to the design based on $GF(2^8)$ or $GF((2^4)^2)$. By optimizing the operation of the 64-bit round transformation and round key scheduling, the round transformation is processed in 3 clock cycles and an encryption of 128-bit data block is performed in 31 clock cycles. The designed AES processor has about 15,870 gates, and the estimated throughput is 412.9 Mbps at 100 MHz clock frequency.
This paper describes a lightweight implementation of a cryptographic processor supporting GCM (Galois/Counter Mode) authenticated encryption (AE) that is based on the two block cipher algorithms of ARIA and AES. It also provides five modes of operation (ECB, CBC, OFB, CFB, CTR) for confidentiality as well as the key lengths of 128-bit and 256-bit. The ARIA and AES are integrated into a single hardware structure, which is based on their algorithm characteristics, and a $128{\times}12-b$ partially parallel GF (Galois field) multiplier is adopted to efficiently perform concurrent processing of CTR encryption and GHASH operation to achieve overall performance optimization. The hardware operation of the ARIA/AES-GCM AE processor was verified by FPGA implementation, and it occupied 60,800 gate equivalents (GEs) with a 180 nm CMOS cell library. The estimated throughput with the maximum clock frequency of 95 MHz are 1,105 Mbps and 810 Mbps in AES mode, 935 Mbps and 715 Mbps in ARIA mode, and 138~184 Mbps in GCM AE mode according to the key length.

This paper describes a design of AES(Advanced Encryption Standard)-based CCMP core for IEEE 802.1li wireless LAN security. To maximize its performance, two AES cores ate used, one is for counter mode for data confidentiality and the other is for CBC(Cipher Block Chaining) mode for authentication and data integrity. The S-box that requires the largest hardware in AES core is implemented using composite field arithmetic, and the gate count is reduced by about $20\%$ compared with conventional LUT(Lookup Table)-based design. The CCMP core designed in Verilog-HDL has 13,360 gates, and the estimated throughput is about 168 Mbps at 54-MHz clock frequency. The functionality of the CCMP core is verified by Excalibur SoC implementation.

This paper describes a design of security system-on-chip (SoC) that integrates a Cortex-M0 CPU with an AAW (ARIA-AES- Whirlpool) crypto-core which implements two block cipher algorithms of ARIA and AES and a hash function Whirlpool into an unified hardware architecture. The AAW crypto-core was implemented in a small area through hardware sharing based on algorithmic characteristics of ARIA, AES and Whirlpool, and it supports key sizes of 128-bit and 256-bit. The designed security SoC was implemented on FPGA device and verified by hardware-software co-operation. The AAW crypto-core occupied 5,911 slices, and the AHB_Slave including the AAW crypto-core was implemented with 6,366 slices. The maximum clock frequency of the AHB_Slave was estimated at 36 MHz, the estimated throughputs of the ARIA-128 and the AES-128 was 83 Mbps and 78 Mbps respectively, and the throughput of the Whirlpool hash function of 512-bit block was 156 Mbps.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the occurrence and types of the adverse events (AEs) associated with oral fluconazole and itraconazole and factors associated with specific types of AEs. Methods: We analyzed AEs reported by community pharmacies nationwide over 10 years using the Korea Adverse Event Reporting System database. Various AE terms were categorized into 18 types, and concomitant medications were classified by drug-drug interaction (DDI) severity. The relationship between the specific type of AE and age, sex, and number of concomitant medications was investigated using multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: A total of 879 AE reports of fluconazole and 401 reports of itraconazole were analyzed; of these reports, 321 and 83 reports of fluconazole and itraconazole, respectively, described concomitant drug administration categorized as DDI severity of contraindicated or major. Women had a higher risk of psychiatric AEs associated with fluconazole use (OR, 1.587; p=0.042). Polypharmacy increased the risk for psychiatric AEs (OR, 3.598; p<0.001 for fluconazole and OR, 2.308; p=0.046 for itraconazole). In dermatologic AEs, the mean age of patients who received itraconazole was lower than that of patients who received fluconazole (46.3±16.8 vs. 54.9±15.4; p<0.001). Co-administration of fluconazole with 1-3 drugs increased the risk of neurological AEs (OR, 1.764; p=0.028). Conclusion: When using fluconazole and itraconazole, psychiatric AEs should be noted, particularly in women and in case of polypharmacy; moreover, when fluconazole is co-administered with other drugs, attention should be paid to the occurrence of neurological AEs.
Purpose: To enhance the non-combustibility of fire protection piping insulation and improve the heat resistance of smoke extraction duct insulation, I plan to verify the suitability of AES insulation materials for these applications through performance testing. Method: The non-combustibility, heat resistance, and thermal insulation performance of AES insulation materials will be verified through various tests. Result: According to the 'Standards for Flame Retardancy and Fire Spread Prevention of Building Finishing Materials,' the results of non-combustibility and gas toxicity tests confirmed the non-combustible properties. The standard fire resistance tests verified the fire resistance performance. Additionally, the thermal insulation performance was confirmed through building insulation tests. Conclusion: As the performance tests on AES inorganic insulation materials have proven their noncombustibility, fire resistance, and thermal insulation performance, these materials are considered a viable alternative for improving fire spread prevention in buildings.
