  • The knapsack problem (KP) is one of the traditional optimization problems. Specially, multiconstrained knapsack problem (MKP) is well-known NP-hard problem. Many heuristic algorithms and evolutionary algorithms have tackled this problem and shown good performance. This paper presents a novel genetic algorithm for the multiconstrained knapsack problem. The proposed algorithm is called 'Adaptive Link Adjustment'. It is based on integer random key representation and uses additional ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$-process as well as selection, crossover and mutation. The experiment results show that it can be archive good performance.

  • Generally, the objectives of the geodetic network adjustments are for solving the configuration of geodetic net-works and the problem of observation plans. In this study, assuming that the configuration is fixed, for improving the accuracy of geodetic networks, we focus on choosing adjustment control points and adjustment methods. By choosing adjustment control points and adjustment methods, the adjustment result accuracy of national geodetic networks can be different. So, in this study, we introduce the algorithm that use free network adjustment concept to minimize the displacements of new station points but fixing existing control points. Then, us-ing adjustment results, we can check the errors of existing control points. After checking the errors of existing control point, in case of severe error points in existing control points, we change those points into unknown station points and repeat the algorithm to optimize the coordinates of new station points. As applying this algorithm to simulation network, we can check the errors of existing control points. And changing severe error points into unknown station points, we can decrease the errors of network and optimize the coordinates of new station points. From the results of simulation network adjustment, we think that, as applying this algorithms to sequential adjustment of geodetic network and public surveying that using national geodetic network, the accuracy of network adjustments can be improved.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the predictors of peer relationship and the dysfunctional family on life adjustment in university. The participants of study were 415 university students in Seoul province. A survey was carried out using convenient sampling, and correlation analysis and multiple regression were conducted. The results were summarized as follows: First, as for the peer relationship, dysfunctional family and life adjustment in university, all of the subvariables except for conflict, distrust and university of adaptation show significant correlations. Second, a multiple regression analysis showed that, in order of significance, conflict resolution, problem parents, recognition and attention variables significantly affected life adjustment in university. This has implications for the prevention of misfit university students, the related program development, and various policy establishments.

  • The traditional RAP (Redundancy Allocation Problem) of complex systems has considered only the redundancy of subsystem with homogeneous components. In this paper we extend it as a RAP of complex systems with heterogeneous components which is more flexible than the case of homogeneous components. We model this problem as a nonlinear integer programming problem, find its optimal solution by tabu search, and suggest an example of the efficient reliability design with heterogeneous components. In order to improve the quality of the solution of the tabu search, we suggest a modified tabu search to employ an adaptive procedure (1-opt or 2-opt exchange) to generate the efficient neighborhood solutions. Computational results show that our modified procedure obtains better solutions as the size of problem increases from 30 to 50, even though it requires rather more computing time. With some adjustment of the parameters of the proposed method, it can be applied to the optimal reliability designs of complex systems of ships.

  • In Multilevel Secure Database Management System(MLS/DBMS), we assume that system has a security clearance level for each user and a classification level for each data item in system and the objective of these systems is to protect secure information from unauthorized user. Many algorithms which have been researched have focus on removing covert channel by modifying conventional lock-based algorithm or timestamp-based algorithm. but there is high-level starvation problem that high level transaction is aborted by low level transaction repeatedly. In order to solve this problem, we propose an algorithm to reduce high-level starvation using dynamic adjustment of serialization order, which is basically using orange lock. Because our algorithm is based on a single version unlike conventional secure algorithms which are performed on multiversion, it can get high degree of concurrency control. we also show that it guarantees the serializability of concurrent execution, and satisfies secure properties of MLS/DBMS.

  • The construction of a facility is an act whereby infrastructure such as roads and railways and other facilities such as housing and office spaces are constructed, and due to the characteristics of the relevant industry where such construction is carried out in a custom order method, it requires a long period of time mostly. While the construction is carried out over a long period of time, fluctuations in the price of raw materials required for the construction occur. Therefore, the cost of the construction also fluctuates inevitably. The fluctuation of the construction cost meshes closely with the profit of a constructor and the efficiency of government spending. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the construction cost at a reasonable level by adjusting the construction cost rationally in order to secure the required construction quality and spend the budget efficiently. The buffer system for solving such problem is the contract amount adjustment system by fluctuations in prices (Escalation/De-Escalation). In this study, the method combining the escalation method based on the item adjustment method was suggested for an efficient contract amount adjustment method. In addition, it is proposed that there be an investigation and codification of matters not applied to government acts and regulations on contracts related to the adjustment of fluctuations in prices legally.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the adjustment process of families adopting an older child, and to generate a substantial theory. To achieve this purpose, we conducted in-depth interviews with mothers adopting an older child and analyzed data with qualitative analysis approach. From the analysis, theoretical model has been made, and the model includes the adoptive families' diverse experiences, barriers to adjustment as well as resources and strategies that they mobilized and used for smooth adjustment. Their experiences in the process of adjustment consisted of five phases: unfamiliar meeting, shock, fighting alone without support, control, and stability. Barriers to adjustment process were composed of adoptees' problem behaviors, loss of time, lack of preparation, lack of experiences, repetition of the vicious circle, withstanding alone, improper resources, lack of support, and being criticized. Resources and strategies that families adopting an older child utilized were individual resources and ability such as rearing experiences, intellectual ability, willingness, belief, and perspective change; family system such as spouse and other offsprings; informal support system such as extended families, relatives, friends, neighbors, and other families adopting an older child; formal resources such as adoption workers and helping professionals. From our results, we suggested policy and practice guidelines to help adjustment experiences for families adopting an older child.

  • Although increasing number of children are being raised by grandparents these days, little research exists on the development of the children in this arrangement. This study aimed at examining school adjustment of the children raised by grandparents, by comparing academic achievement and general classroom and school behaviors of the children in grandparent families with those of their peers from other types of families such as two-parents, single parent, kinship and institution care, and single parent with grandparent(s). Three hundred and twenty four 2nd graders md two hundred ninety eight 5th graders were surveyed for this study. It was found that children raised solely by grandparents did quite well, relative to children in traditional families where two parents were present. Children from single-parent families were significantly worse in school achievement and study habits than children in traditional nuclear families. Girls obtained higher scores on school achievement and study habits whereas they showed lower scores on problem behaviors than boys. There was also an interaction effect between family structure and gender of child in school achievement.

  • In order to predict the moldability of a injection molded part, a simulation of filling is needed. Especially when short shot is predicted by CAE simulation in the filling stage, there are mainly three ways to solve the problem. Modification of gate and runner, replacement of plastic resin, and adjustment of process conditions are the main ways. Among them, adjustment of process conditions is the most economic way in the cost and time since the mold doesn\\`t need t be modified at all. But it is difficult to adjust the process conditions appropriately in no times since it requires an empirical knowledge of injection molding. In this paper, a fuzzy neural network(FNN) based upon injection molding process is proposed to evaluate moldability in filling stage and also to solve the problem in case of short shot. An adequate mold temperature is generated through the fuzzy neural network where fill time and melt temperature are taken into considerations because process conditions affect each other.
