The setting and hardening of concrete is accompanied by nonlinear temperature distribution caused by developing heat of cement hydration. This leads to tensile stresses that may exceed the strength of the young concrete, and cracks occur. In this present study, the heat of hydration characteristics are obtained from a study in which insulated concrete cubes were tested. Based on test results, concrete heat of hydration characteristics according to unit weight cement and flyash replacement quantity are determined, then employed in a numerical temperature
analysis that consider both environmental interaction and concreting phases. The numerical results are performed by ADINA - T. The analytical results are in good agreement with experimental data.
The influence of N2 addition on soot formation, flame temperature and NOx emissions is investigated experimentally with methane fuel co-flow diffusion flames. The motivation of the present investigation is the differences in NOx reduction reported between fuel-side and oxidizer-side introduction of N2. To determine the influence of dilution alone, fuel was diluted with nitrogen while keeping the adiabatic flame temperature fixed by changing the temperature of the reactants. And to see the thermal effect only, air was supplied at different temperature without N2 addition. N2 addition into fuel side suppressed the soot formation than the case of oxidizer-side, while flame temperature enhanced the soot formation almost linearly. These results reveals the relative influences of the thermal, concentration effects of N2 additives on soot formation In accordance with experimental study, numerical simulation using CHEMKIN code was carried out to compare the temperature results with those acquired by CARS measurement, and we could find that there is good agreement between those results. Emission test revealed that NOx emissions were affected by not only flame temperature but also N2 addition.
We develop a parallel cosmological hydrodynamic simulation code designed for the study of formation and evolution of cosmological structures. The gravitational force is calculated using the TreePM method and the hydrodynamics is implemented based on the smoothed particle hydrodynamics. The initial displacement and velocity of simulation particles are calculated according to second-order Lagrangian perturbation theory using the power spectra of dark matter and baryonic matter. The initial background temperature is given by Recfast and the temperature uctuations at the initial particle position are assigned according to the adiabatic model. We use a time-limiter scheme over the individual time steps to capture shock-fronts and to ease the time-step tension between the shock and preshock particles. We also include the astrophysical gas processes of radiative heating/cooling, star formation, metal enrichment, and supernova feedback. We test the code in several standard cases such as one-dimensional Riemann problems, Kelvin-Helmholtz, and Sedov blast wave instability. Star formation on the galactic disk is investigated to check whether the Schmidt-Kennicutt relation is properly recovered. We also study global star formation history at different simulation resolutions and compare them with observations.
Thermal analysis, heating test on gram scale and simulation of exothermic behavior based on kinetic analysis has been conducted in order to evaluate thermal hazards of self-polymerization of MDI. The exothermic reactions of MDI are expected to be the polymerization which forms carbodiimide and carbon dioxide, dimerization and trimerization. When MDI is kept in adiabatic condition during 1 week (10080 hours), the simulated result shows runaway reaction can occur in the case that initial temperature was more than $130^{\circ}C$. The relationship between the initial temperature (T, $^{\circ}C$) and TMR is given in a following equation. TMR=$4.493{\times}10^{-7}$ exp ($9.532{\times}10^3$/(T+273.15)) We propose that the relationship gives important criteria of handling temperature of MDl to prevent a runaway reaction.
Heat pipes with binary mixture fabricated and tested for applications where condenser temperature is in a range of $10^{\circ}C$ to $130^{\circ}C$. The pipe materials 8.0 mm O.D. cupper tube and the working fluids are ethanol-water mixtures. The total length of test of the heat pipe was 1710mm in which evaporator section was 1570mm, adiabatic section was 50mm and condenser section was 90mm. Mixing ratios of ethanol and water could be variable in mole fraction. Temperature of condenser section was $10^{\circ}C$, $80^{\circ}C$ and $130^{\circ}C$. Heat pipe performance experimental study was accomplished with change of mixing ratio in these temperatures. The fill charge ratio was 20% of the heat pipe volume. Wick structure was woven-wire and method of experimental work was that thermal load was increased 20W step until the heat pipe wall temperature reached at $150^{\circ}C$. Results were following: At coolant $10^{\circ}C$ and $130^{\circ}C$, mixing ratio that have beat thermal performance was 0.8M+ and at coolant $80^{\circ}C$, was 0.3 ${\sim}$ 0.5 M+.

Perfluorocarbons (PFCs) have been suggested as possible replacements for $SF_6$ and the fluorocarbons used in and emitted during technological plasma treatments because PFCs have significantly low greenhouse warming potentials. Of many PFCs, c-$C_4F_8$ and 2-$C_4F_8$ attract special attention because of their high CF2 radicallevels in commercial plasma treatments. Accordingly, several experimental and theoretical studies of these $C_4F_8$ species have been conducted, although only the geometries at their stationary states and their adiabatic electron affinities (EAs) have been determined. However, this information is not sufficient for a deep understanding of all the possible fates and roles of $C_4F_8$ species and their fragments in plasma phases. Although the performance and reliability ofeach DFT functional have been examined carefully by the development team of each functional form with respect to the training and test data sets of well-known molecular systems, no PFC was included in the data sets. So a careful additional assessment of the reliability of DFT functionals for the study of PFC systems is highly required. In order to find a DFT method appropriate to PFCs, the geometry, energy, and chemical reaction properties of $C_4F_8$ were calculated and compared with reference data.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the fire resistant performances of load-bearing wall using both composite and steel stud panel infilled with light-weight formed mortar under axial loading according to KS F 2257(1999). The minimum requirement of 2 hours fire resistant rating is needed for the residential and commercial buildings under the fire regulation of Korea. From test results, it is found that two types of specimen composed of the hybrid stud and steel stud panel filled with light-weight formed mortar fited in with the requirement of 2 hours fire resisting rate for the load-bearing wall. In the conclusions, the specimen with hybrid stud shows predominating fire-resistant performance on the adiabatic effects rather than that of the steel stud specimen.
In the present work, flow analysis has been performed in the steam turbine bypass control valve (single-path type) for two different cases i.e., case with steam only and case with both steam and water. The numerical analysis is performed by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. The shear stress transport (SST) model and $k-{\varepsilon}$ model are used to each different case as turbulence closure. Symmetry condition is applied at the mid plane of the valve while adiabatic condition is used at the outer wall of the cage. Grid independency test is performed to find the optimal number of grid points. The pressure and temperature distributions on the outer wall of the cage are analyzed. The mass flow rate at maximum plug opening condition is compared with the designed mass flow rate. The numerical analysis of multiphase mixing flow(liquid and vapor) is also performed to inspect liquid-vapor volume fraction of bypass valve. The result of volume fraction is useful to estimate both the safety and confidence of valve design.
Motivated by reducing the uncertainties in quantification of debris bed coolability, this paper reports an experimental study on two-phase flow resistances and interfacial drag in packed porous beds. The experiments are performed on the DEBECO-LT (DEbris BEd COolability-Low Temperature) test facility which is constructed to investigate the adiabatic single and two phase flow in porous beds. The pressure drops are measured when air-water two phase flow passes through the porous beds packed with different size particles, and the effects of interfacial drag are studied especially. The results show that, for two phase flow through the beds packed with small size particles such as 1.5 mm and 2 mm spheres, the contribution of interfacial drag to the pressure drops is weak and ignorable, while the significant effects are conducted on the pressure drops of the beds with bigger size particles like 3 mm and 6 mm spheres, where the interfacial drag in beds with larger particles will result in a descent-ascent tendency in the pressure drop curves along with the fluid velocity, and the effect of interfacial drag should be considered in the debris coolability analysis models for beds with bigger size particles.
The intracluster medium (ICM) is expected to experience on average about three passages of weak shocks with low sonic Mach numbers, M ≲ 3, during the formation of galaxy clusters. Both protons and electrons could be accelerated to become high energy cosmic rays (CRs) at such ICM shocks via diffusive shock acceleration (DSA). We examine the effects of DSA by multiple shocks on the spectrum of accelerated CRs by including in situ injection/acceleration at each shock, followed by repeated re-acceleration at successive shocks in the test-particle regime. For simplicity, the accelerated particles are assumed to undergo adiabatic decompression without energy loss and escape from the system, before they encounter subsequent shocks. We show that in general the CR spectrum is flattened by multiple shock passages, compared to a single episode of DSA, and that the acceleration efficiency increases with successive shock passages. However, the decompression due to the expansion of shocks into the cluster outskirts may reduce the amplification and flattening of the CR spectrum by multiple shock passages. The final CR spectrum behind the last shock is determined by the accumulated effects of repeated re-acceleration by all previous shocks, but it is relatively insensitive to the ordering of the shock Mach numbers. Thus multiple passages of shocks may cause the slope of the CR spectrum to deviate from the canonical DSA power-law slope of the current shock.
