This paper proposes a direct adaptive control method using self-recurrent wavelet neural network (SRWNN) for stable path tracking of mobile robots. The architecture of the SRWNN is a modified model of the wavelet neural network (WNN). Unlike the WNN, since a mother wavelet layer of the SRWNN is composed of self-feedback neurons, the SRWNN has the ability to store the past information of the wavelet. For this ability of the SRWNN, the SRWNN is used as a controller with simpler structure than the WNN in our on-line control process. The gradient-descent method with adaptive learning rates (ALR) is applied to train the parameters of the SRWNN. The ALR are derived from discrete Lyapunov stability theorem, which are used to guarantee the stable path tracking of mobile robots. Finally, through computer simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness and stability of the proposed controller.

In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy neural control of unknown nonlinear systems based on the rapid learning algorithm is proposed for optimal parameterization. We combine the advantages of fuzzy control and neural network techniques to develop an adaptive fuzzy control system for updating nonlinear parameters of controller. The Fuzzy Neural Network(FNN), which is constructed by an equivalent four-layer connectionist network, is able to learn to control a process by updating the membership functions. The free parameters of the AFN controller are adjusted on-line according to the control law and adaptive law for the purpose of controlling the plant track a given trajectory and it's initial values are off-line preprocessing, In order to improve the convergence of the learning process, we propose a rapid learning algorithm which combines the error back-propagation algorithm with Aitken's $\delta$$\^$2/ algorithm. The heart of this approach ls to reduce the computational burden during the FNN learning process and to improve convergence speed. The simulation results for nonlinear plant demonstrate the control effectiveness of the proposed system for optimal parameterization.

This paper presents speed control of IPMSM drive using neural network(NN) PI controller. In general, PI controller in computer numerically controlled machine process fixed gain. They may perform well under some operating conditions, but not all. To increase the robustness of fixed gain PI controller, NNPI controller proposes a new method based neural network. NNPI controller is developed to minimize overshoot, rise time and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque and inertia. Also, this paper is proposed speed control of IPMSM using neural network and estimation of speed using artificial neural network(ANN) controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner. And this controller is better than the fired gains one in terms of robustness, even under great variations of operating conditions and load disturbance.
This paper presents a neural net based nonlinear adaptive controller for an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). AUV's dynamics are highly nonlinear and their hydrodynamic coefficients vary with different operational conditions, so it is necessary for the high performance control system of an AUV to have the capacities of learning and adapting to the change of the AUV's dynamics. In this paper a linearly parameterized neural network is used to approximate the uncertainties of the AUV's dynamic, and the basis function vector of network is constructed according to th AUV's physical properties. A sliding mode control scheme is introduced to attenuate the effect of the neural network's reconstruction errors and the disturbances in AUV's dynamics. Using Lyapunov theory, the stability of the presented control system is guaranteed as well as the uniformly boundedness of tracking errors and neural network's weights estimation errors. Finally, numerical simulations for motion control of an AUV are performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

This paper presents a new scheme of neural network controller to improve to improve the robustuous of robot manipulator using digital signal processors. Digital processors, DSPs, are micro-processors that are particularly developed for fast numerical computations involving sums and products of variables. Digital version of most advanced control algorithms can be defined as sums and producrs of measured variables, thus it can be programmed and executed through DSPs. In addition, DSPs are as fist in computation as most 32-bit micro-processors and yet at a fraction of their prices. These features make DSPs a viable computational tool in digital implementation of sophisticated controllers. During past decade it was proposed the well-established theorys for the adaptive control of linear systems, but there exits relativly little gensral theoral for the adaptive control of nonlinear systems. Perforating of the proposed controller is illustrated. This paper describes a new approach to the design of adaptive controller and implementation of real-time control for assembling robotic manipulator using digital signal processor. Digital signal processors used in implementing real time adaptive control algorithm are TMS320C50 series made in TI'Co..

In this paper, we proposed a control method of an unknown nonlinear system using a dynamical neural network. The proposed method is composed of neural network of state space model type, performs for a unknown nonlinear system, identification with using the dynamical neural network, and then a nonlinear adaptive controller is designed with these identified informations. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we simulated one-link manipulator. The simulation results showed the effectiveness of using the dynamical neural network in the adaptive control of one-link manipulator.
Recently, the development of novel control methodology enables us to improve the performance of AC-machine drives by using pulse width modulation (PWM) technique. Usually, the dynamic characteristic of induction motor (IM) has been represented by the 5-th order nonlinear differential equation. This dynamics, however, can be reduced to 3-rd order dynamics by applying direct control of IM input current. This methodology concludes that it is much easier to control IM by means of the field-oriented methods employing the current controller. Therefore a precise current control is crucial to achieve a high control performance both in dynamic and steady state operations. This paper presents an adaptive fuzzy current controller with artificial neural network (ANN) for field-oriented controlled IM. This new control structure is able to adaptively minimize a current ripple while maintaining constant switching frequency. Especially the proposed controller employs neuro-computing philosophy as well as adaptive learning pattern recognizing principles with respect to variations of the system parameters. The proposed approach is applied to the IM drive system, and its performance is tested through various simulations. Simulation results show that the proposed system, compared among several known classical methods, has a superb performance.

This paper presents a new adaptive autopilot for ships based on the Adaptive Neural Networks. The proposed adaptive autopilot is designed with some modifications and improvements from the previous studies on Adaptive Neural Networks by Adaptive Interaction (ANNAI) theory to perform course-keeping, turning and track-keeping control. A strategy for automatic selection c! the neural network controller parameters is introduced to improve the adaptation ability and the robustness of new ANNAI autopilot. In Part II of the paper, to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed ANNAI autopilot, computer simulations of course-keeping and track-keeping tasks with and without the effects of measurement noise and external disturbances are presented.

Neural networks are known as kinds of intelligent strategies since they have learning capability. There are various their applications from intelligent control fields; however, their applications have limits from the point that the stability of the intelligent control systems is not usually guaranteed. In this paper we propose an adaptive tracking control for robot manipulators using the radial basis function network (RBFN) that is e. kind of neural networks. Adaptation laws for parameters of the RBFN are developed based on the Lyapunov stability theory to guarantee the stability of the overall control scheme. Filtered tracking errors between actual outputs and desired outputs are discussed in the sense of the uniformly ultimately boundedness(UUB). Additionally, it is also shown that parameters of the RBFN are bounded. Experimental results for a SCARA-type robot manipulator show that the proposed adaptive tracking controller is adaptable to the environment changes and is more robust than the conventional PID controller and the neuro-controller based on the multilayer perceptron.
