Preamble Detector and Synchronization in the TDD mode for BWA System

  • On the TDD system, the uplink and downlink transmission share the same frequency but are seperated in time. In this paper we just consider the uplink transmission. The BWA system in this paper should be accepted the adaptive modulation. Each uplink burst shall begin with an uplink preamble. The reception of an uplink burst is the most challenging from a synchronization perspective. The burst detection, power estimation, symbol synchronization and carrier synchronization should be obtained from the preamble. It will be shown in this paper, how can get a burst detection by preambles and extract the synchronization parameter from preamble.

  • Phase locked loops are widely used in many applications such as frequency synthesis, clock/data recovery and clock generation. In nearly all the PLL applications, low jitter and fast locking time is required. Without using adaptive loop filter, this paper proposes very simple method for improving locking time and jitter reduction simultaneously in charge pump PLL(CPPLL) using Daul Phase/Frequency Detector(Dual PFD). Based on the proposed scheme, the lock time is improved by 23.1%, and the jitter is reduced by 45.2% compared with typical CPPLL.

  • 본 연구는 공간적 정보를 수집할 수 있는 영상검지기를 이용하여 주어진 대기행렬길이를 기반으로 하는 최적주기 알고리즘을 개발함으로써 교통신호 제어에 대한 새로운 신호계획을 제공한다. 본 연구에서는 교통수요의 공간적인 정보를 획득하는 방안으로서 영상검지기 기반의 대기행렬길이를 사용한다. 전략적 측면에서 다양한 교통상태를 적용하였으며, 주요 결과는 아래와 같다. 1. 영상검지기 기반의 대기행렬길이 계산방안을 제안한다. 이 방법은 한 링크의 상류부와 하류부에 2대의 영상검지기를 설치하여 대기행렬길이를 산출하는 방안이다. 2. 신호제어 변수인 주기 계산모형이 개발된다. 이 방법 역시 영상검지기를 기반으로 하는 대기행렬길이를 사용한다.

  • 최근 IT 기술이 융합된 지능형 자동차 기술에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 이에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 차선 검출은 지능형 자동차의 주요 과제인 첨단 안전자동차 기술의 핵심적인 부분으로 국내외에서 다양한 방법들에 대한 연구가 진행되었다. 차량의 안전을 향상시키기 위해서는 충분한 제동거리 확보가 가능한 거리까지 정확하고 빠른 차선 검출이 이루어져야 한다. 기존의 경계선 검출기법들은 조명 변화에 따라 그 성능의 변화가 크게 발생하였다. 이는 차선과 도로의 사이의 값의 차이가 조명 조건에 따라 변하기 때문이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 영상 분석을 통하여 경계선을 판단하는 값을 조절함으로써 환경에 적응적인 경계선 추출 방법을 제안한다. 차량 주행 영상에서 제안한 방법과 기존의 경계선 검출 기법을 적용하여 성능을 비교한다.

Crowd escape event detection based on Direction-Collectiveness Model

  • Crowd escape event detection has become one of the hottest problems in intelligent surveillance filed. When the 'escape event' occurs, pedestrians will escape in a disordered way with different velocities and directions. Based on these characteristics, this paper proposes a Direction-Collectiveness Model to detect escape event in crowd scenes. First, we extract a set of trajectories from video sequences by using generalized Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi key point tracker (gKLT). Second, a Direction-Collectiveness Model is built based on the randomness of velocity and orientation calculated from the trajectories to express the movement of the crowd. This model can describe the movement of the crowd adequately. To obtain a generalized crowd escape event detector, we adopt an adaptive threshold according to the Direction-Collectiveness index. Experiments conducted on two widely used datasets demonstrate that the proposed model can detect the escape events more effectively from dense crowd.

A Non-Canonical Linearly Constrained Constant Modulus Algorithm for a Blind Multiuser Detector

  • We investigate an alternative blind adaptive multiuser detection scheme based on a non-canonical linearly constrained constant modulus (LCCM) criterion and prove that, under the constrained condition, the non-canonical linearly constrained constant modulus algorithm (LCCMA) can completely remove multiple -access interference. We further demonstrate that the non-canonical LCCM criterion function is strictly convex in the noise-free state, and that under the constrained condition, it is also strictly convex even where small noise is present. We present a simple method for selecting the constant as well as a stochastic gradient algorithm for implementing our scheme. Numerical simulation results verify the scheme's efficiency.

  • Multi-band VCO with fast response adaptive frequency calibration (AFC) technique is designed in 1.8V $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The possible operation is verified for 5.8GHz band, 5.2GHz band, and 2.4GHz band using the switchable L-C resonators for 802.11a/b/g WLAN applications. To linearize its frequency-voltage gain, optimized multiple MOS varactor biasing technique is used. In order to operate in each band frequency range with reduced VCO gain, 4-bit digitally controlled switched-capacitor bank is used and a wide-range digital logic quadricorrelator is implemented for fast frequency detector.

  • In general, the communication channel can be modeled as inter-symbol interference(ISI) and additive white gaussian noise channel. Viterbi algorithm is optimum detector for transmitted data at transmitter, but it needs large computational complexity. For the sake of this problem, adaptive equalizers are employed for channel equalization which is not attractive for mixed phase channel. In this paper, we propose the effective new channel equalizer for mixed phase channel and show the better performance than previous equalizers.

  • In general, spatial filtering method was proposed to simplify measurement system through parallel Processing hardware. Spatial filtering is a method of detection that we can get a spatial pattern information, as we process a special space pattern, to say, as we process spatial parallel process by using the spatial weighting function. The important processing characteristics will be depended in according to how ire design a spatial weighting function, a spatial sensitive distribution. The form of the weighting function which is realized from the generally used spatial filtering is fixed and the weighting value was already became a binary-value. In this paper, we propose a new method in order to construct adaptive measurement systems. This method is a weighting function design to make multi-valued and variable.

  • This paper proposes an autonomous navigation system of mobile robots for indoor corridor environment. The system uses a laser scanner but does not use reflectors. The laser scanner measures the distance between robot and structures such as wall, pillar, and fixtures. Adaptive breakpoint detector and modified IEPF (iterative endpoint fit) are developed to find mark points from the distance data. The robot path for corridor is then generated using the angle histogram of the mark points. The experimental results are finally presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
