In this study, a turbine simuiator is designed and manufactured to investigate the transient response of an actual turbine. The rotor mass and bearing stiffness is reduced to 1/140 of its actual turbine. The dynamic characteristics of turbine simulator are similar to those of the actual turbine. The turbine simulator is excited by an electro-magnetic type exciter in the form of half sine wave. Duration time is con☞oiled by Sms, 10ms, and Isms, and maximum acceleration is applied by 3g. Foundation excitation test is performed in stationary condition and rotating condition(6000rpm). The test results can be used to verify the validif of the theoretical afproach for transient analysis of actual turbine.

This research investigates the actual data and construction technology of the massive bottom slab placed by $23,000m^3$ concrete quantity in site of the in-ground type LNG receiving terminal having 20,000kl storage capacity. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix design and control the actual concreting procedures including concrete production, transportation, placement, vibrating and curing in site. For this purpose, the optimum mix design using ternary blended cement(furnace slag cement+fly ash) and under piping method having 11 gates and 7 distributors are selected. As test results of actual construction, concrete placement is finished during 68hours with good success and obtained the good quality of the fresh and hardened concrete including slump, air contents, no-segregation, compressive strength and low hydration heat. Also, actual data for all of concrete procedures are proved successful and satisfied with our specifications.

The air-void is known to be one of the influencing factors for estimating long-term performance of asphalt concrete. Most of all, confirming air void or density of pavement layer is important for quality control of field compaction level of asphalt concrete pavement. In this study, a non-nuclear type non-destructive density gage (NDDG) was used to estimate compacted air-voids of asphalt pavement as a non-destructive test method. Asphalt concrete slab specimens were prepared using 6 types of asphalt mixes in laboratory (lab) for lab NDDG test. Four different base structure materials were used to find out if there were any differences due to the type of base structure materials. The actual air-voids and NDDG air-voids were measured from 6 asphalt concrete slabs. Four sections of field asphalt pavements were tested using the NDDG, and actual air voids were also measured from field cores taken from the site where the NDDG air-void was measured. From lab and field experimental tests, it was found that the air-voids obtained by NDDG were not the same as the actual air-voids measured from the asphalt concrete specimen. However, it was possible to estimate air voids based on the relationship obtained from regression analysis between actual and NDDG air voids. The predicted air-voids based on the NDDG air-voids obtained from 50mm depth were found to be reliable levels with $R^2{\fallingdotseq}0.9$. Therefore, it was concluded that the air-voids obtained from NDDG could be used to estimate actual air-voids in the field asphalt pavement with a relatively high coefficient of determination.
Axisymmetric modeling of the nuclear containment building has been often employed in practice to estimate structural behavior for the axisymmetric loadings, where the axisymmetric approximation is required for the actual non-axisymmetric tendon arrangements in the dome. In the preceding companion paper, some procedures are proposed for the domestic CANDU and KSNP type containments that can implement the actual 3-dimensional tendon stiffness and prestressing effect into the axisymmetric model. In this paper, the proposed schemes are verified through some numerical examples comparing the results of the actual 3-dimensional model with those of some axisymmetric models. The results of the proposed axisymmetric analyses show relatively good agreements with the actual structural behavior especially for the CANDU type. Also, it is shown that proper level of the prestressing in a hoop direction plays an important role to predict the actual prestressing effect in the axisymmetric dome modeling. Finally, correction factors are discussed that can revise some approximations introduced in the derivations.
Vegetation structure was investigated in the Hyeonchang wetland and its watershed around the Nakdong-gang, Changryeong-county, Gyeongsangnamdo, Korea. from May to August, 2001. The vegetation type of the Hyeonchang wetland was classified into 12 communities based on the actual vegetation map: Phragmites communis community, Zizania latifolia community, Phragmites communis - Persicaria perfoliata community, Salix koreensis community, Persicaria perfoliata - Phragmites communis community, Spirodela polyrhiza community, Persicaria perfoliata community, Cyperus amuricus community, Cyperus amuricus-EchinochJoa crus-galli var. frumentacea community, Phragmites communis-Zizania latifolia community, EchinochJoa crus-galli var. frumentacea community, and Persicaria maackiana community. Among them, Phragmites communis community was the largest (4.3 ha, 24%). The dominant vegetation type were Phragmites communis community, Echinochloa crus-galli var. frumentacea-Persicaria maackiana community, and Cyperus amuricus subcommunity based on the phytosociological method. Among them, Distribution area of Pinus densiflora community was largest (399.3 ha, 61.8%). And the degree of green naturality of the Pinus densiflora community was 7 and 8 degree.
Hospitals accomodate patients who have a high risk of infection due to reduced immunity as well as people who require surgical, medical or other treatments. Consequently, the role of clinical nurses, who come into close contact with these patients is very important in the control of nosocomial infection. This study was done to investigate and compare the level of perception of the importance of the control of nosocomial infections as well as the level of actual performance, and the level of satisfaction with the control of nosocomial infection by the clinical nurses. Thus, the purpose of this study is to contribute basic data for improving policies and educational programs to control nosocomial infection. A summary of the survey results is as follows. 1) The means of scores on all categories of the inquiry were 4. 51 for awareness 4.42 for actual performance, and 3.20 for satisfaction, of a possible high score of 5.00. 2) Correlations of the level of perception of importance between characteristics of nurses and hospital control of nosocomial infection differed significantly according to the type of hospital establishment type (p=.005), age(p=.000), career(p=.000), position (p=.002), and regular conferences on infection control in working departments(p=.003), Correlation of the level of actual performance between characteristics of nurses and hospital control of nosocomial infection diffesed significantly according to type of hospital(p=.000), hospital size (p=.009), working department(p=.000), age(p=.000), career (p=.000), school career(p=.040), position (p=.000), education experience on nosocomial infection(p=.020), and regular conferences on infection control in working department(p=.000). Correlation of degree of satisfaction between characteristics of nurses and hospital control of nosocomial infection also differed significantly according to the type of hospital establishment (p=.003), working department(p=.000), age (p=.000), and regular conferences on infection control in working department (p=.000). 3) Correlation between clinical nurses, level of perception of importance and actual level of performance for the control of nosocomial infection was relatively positive (r=.57, p=.000). This study is carried out to understand spacial characteristics, actual condition and behavior of use about homebase managed in variation type. Observation about moving line of students and questionnaire were tried to satisfy this purpose. As a result, classroom used as variation type for long time stay and homebase outside the classroom for short time stay were paralled managed in most schools. Density of school furniture in homebase of observed schools was about 36-37%, occupying area of each student was about $0.3-0.6m^2$. It was relatively low with the results of 45-54% and $0.94-1.15m^2$ observed in Japan schools, respectively. By the analysis about behavior of use through cross section of observation, the difference of staying time and personnel exchange between the students was higher at the school having homebase composed with various corners more than the school used it only as a locker room.
To investigate the influence of cross section geometries on the behavior of composite beams in the case of small span to depth ratio and deep beams. the static flexural behavior of composite I-beams and Box- beams was evaluated. 12 types of composite I -beams composed of LVL flanges and particleboard or plywood web and 3 types of composite Box-beams composed of LVL flanges and plywood web were tested under one-point loading. The load-deflection curves were almost linear to failure, therefore, the behavior of tested composite beams was elastic. The theoretical flexural rigidity of composite beams was calculated and compared with observed flexural rigidity. The highest value was found in I-W type beams and the lowest value was found in G-P type beams. The difference between theoretical and observed flexural rigidity was small. Theoretical total deflection of tested composite beams was calculated using flexural rigidity and compared with actual deflection. Shear deflection of these beams was evaluated by the approximation method, solid crosss section method and elementary method. The difference between actual deflection and expected deflection was not found in D, E and F type beams. This defference was small in G, H and I type beams or Box-beam.
In the railway bridges, steel plate girder types are preferred due the high stability. Nevertheless, it has been pointed out that this type of bridge has problems such as, structural damages in the rail and girder seat, noise problem due to impact at the rail joint and excessive vibration. This vibration and/or deflection are mainly because insufficient stiffness of steel plate type of bridge. To resolve these problems, PC-Slab composite plate girder type which has simple process and economic cost, is proposed in this study. The static and dynamic experiment is performed by using the production of actual sized PC-Slab and abandoned steel plate girder. The object of this experiment is to verify the fact that girder stiffness increase and structural safety. The result of the experiment is used to analyze the effect of performance improvement of PC composite plate girder type. Using this method, economic rail maintainers, girder stiffness increase, and also speed/ride improvement even for existing rail could be expected by dynamic performance improvement. Additionally noise due to impact, deflection and vibration caused from long rails can be reduced.
This paper presents a novel prototype of three-phase voltage source type zero voltage soft-switching inverter with the auxiliary resonant snubbers suitable for high-power applications with IGBT power module packages in order to reduce their switching power losses as well as electromagnetic conductive and radiative noises. A proposed single inductor-assisted resonant AC link snubber circuit topology as one of some auxiliary resonant commutation snubbers developed previously to achieve the zero voltage soft-switching (ZVS) for the three-phase voltage source type sinewave PWM inverter operating under the instantaneous space voltage vector modulation is originally demonstrated as compared with the other types of resonant AC link snubber circuit topologies. In addition to this, its operation principle and unique features are described in this paper. Furthermore, the practical basic operating performances of the new conceptual instantaneous space voltage vector modulation resonant AC link snubber-assisted three-phase voltage source type soft-switching PWM inverter using IGBT power module packages are evaluated and discussed on the basis of switching voltage and current waveforms, output line to line voltage quality, power loss analysis, actual power conversion efficiency and electromagnetic conductive and radiative noises from an experimental point of view, comparing with those of conventional three-phase voltage source hard-switching PWM inverter using IGBT power modules.
