Passive force acting on the kicker block used to support a raker is different dependent on soil's type. The passive force incorporating a factor of safety is considered for design of the retaining wall. However, an actual passive force developing on the kicker block is overestimated and it may lead to an unsafe design. In this study, the actual passive forces acting on the kicker block in soil ground are evaluated using 3-D Finite Element Program, PLAXIS. Soft and weathered soils are selected as a soil ground. The relation curves between horizontal displacement and actual passive force of the kicker block for each soil ground are obtained through numerical analyses. From the curves, the actual passive forces are determined as a yielding point, which are about 55.5% and 66% of Rankine's passive forces in soft and weathered soils, respectively.
Recently, an interest in risk calculation methods has been increasing in Korea due to the establishment of classification code for explosive hazardous area on gas facility (KGS CODE GC101), which is based on the international standard of classification of areas - explosive gas atmospheres (IEC 60079-10-1). However, experiments to check for leaks of combustible or toxic gases are very difficult. These experiments can lead to fire, explosion, and toxic poisoning. Therefore, even if someone tries to provide a laboratory for this experiment, it is difficult to install a gas leakage equipment. In this study we find out differences among actual experiments, CFD by using FLACS and calculation based on classification code for explosive hazardous area on gas facility (KGS CODE GC101) by comparing to each other. We develpoed KGS HAC (hazardous area classification) program which based on KGS GC101 for convenience and popularization. As a result, actual gas leak, CFD and KGS HAC are showing slightly different results. The results of dispersion of 1.8 to 2.7 m were shown in the actual experiment, and the CFD and KGS HAC showed a linear increase of about 0.4 to 1 m depending on the increase in a flow rate. In the actual experiment, the application of 3/8" tubes and orifice to take into account the momentum drop resulted in an increase in the hazardous distance of about 1.95 m. Comparing three methods was able to identify similarities between real and CFD, and also similarities and limitations of CFD and KGS HAC. We hope these results will provide a good basis for future experiments and risk calculations.
The purpose of this study is to conduct base line research, which is based on requestion of international married immigrant women, for developing social adaptation and family enrichment program for those population who reside in Korea. The survey questionnaire was distributed to 142 international married immigrant women who reside in Seoul to research program participate satisfaction and requestion. Analyze the study results, frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan-post test were utilized. As a result, overall satisfaction toward program that offered by organization was highly ranked. Visiting service showed high score of satisfaction but mentor service that strongly possess sacrifice showed lower score of satisfaction. Vocational and job-related skill improvement education presented less satisfied degree of satisfaction but cooking class, computer class, training education for native-speaking instructor present high level of satisfaction. Second, the requisition of target population, who did not participate program, presented lower than the satisfaction, still present high demand of variety area of program. Among them, assist child nurturing and vocational and job- related skill improvement education showed high demand. It enable to predict that they are eager to get support toward parent role and self-realization. Third, when the difference were analyzed to compare the subjective judgement toward life adaptation in Korea and the satisfaction for program user and the requisition of non-user, the meaningful differences were founded; especially, individuals who possess confident degree of computer skills and Korean(reading, speaking, and listening) showed higher degree of satisfaction to vocation and job-skill related improvement education. This study has a practical implication, which is based on the study results, on developing a program to support international married immigrant women and multicultural families to satisfactory settlement in Korea life and to maintain healthy families.
The purpose of this study is to develop teaching program which utilizes emotional intelligence elements as a measure to stimulate the motive and scientific attitude of learners and examine the effect of its application. The target unit for this study is 'world of plants' in the fourth grade of elementary school, and the teaching program is composed of 3 stages including I(encounter with myself), S(encounter with science), and U(encounter with friends). The teaching program is organized in the way to reflect 5 emotional intelligence elements including self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, sympathy, and personal relations properly according to each stage of teaching program. The result of applying this program into actual classrooms is as follows. First, it is proven that the teaching program actually helps improving the motive of learners to study science. The emotional intelligence takes a role of positive motive for thinking, and the learners monitor their emotion and behavior patterns by using a mirror notebook to reduce their anxiety about science. Second, it is proven that the teaching program changes the science related attitude of learners positively. The emotional intelligence elements help the learners to create friendly feeling toward science subject and have a friendly attitude toward science and a sense of expectancy to science class. Third, it is proven that the teaching program contributes to the improvement of learners' science study achievement. The emotional intelligence takes an important role in improving the learners' science study achievement through the role of adjusting and controlling the recognition capability. However, emphasizing the emotional intelligence excessively also has a risk to break the balance between emotion and recognition, so it is considered that the balanced approach should be applied.
The objectives of this study are to identify the actual educational contents of management for head nurse and to propose the educational subjects according to identity the needs of head, charge, and staff nurses. The subjects were investigated the actual Management Development Programs and educational needs of head nurses and prospective nurse manager(charge nurse, staff nurse with a lot of clinical experiences) in general hospitals. The tools were composed of two questionnaires: One was developed from the literature review for making items to measure actual situation. The other was revised Katz's model for measurement of educational needs. The first respondents of actual situation were 27 general hospitals with over 400 beds in Seoul and the second respondents were 89 head nurses, 67 charge nurses and 136 nurses at 3 hospitals by convenient sampling out of 27 general hospitals. Data were collected by telephone interview, mail questionnaire and visiting from 7th of October through 30th of November in 1997. In data analysis, general characteristics of the respondents and actual status of Management Development Programs were analyzed by frequency and percentage. Educational needs according to general characteristics were analyzed by ANOVA The results were as follows: 1. Actual situation of Management Development Program 1) Seven hospitals(26%) had Management Development Program for prospective managers and 14 hospitals (52%) for head nurses. 2) Education Department existed in 14 hospitals (52%). 3) One hospital(4%) had top level managers took part in the Management Development. 4) Two hospitals selected head nurse, who had finished courses of Management Development. Eight hospitals(30%) assessed educational needs. The assessment tools consisted of making a question via questionnaire(75%), determining at department meeting(12%) and interview(13%). 5) Educational programs had 3 types: 10 lecture type, 7 discussion type and 4 role play type programs. 6) One hospital evaluated the change of learner's attitude. 7) Four hospitals scored educational point, but that was measured only by attending. 8) Actual Management Development Programs were as follows. parenthesis indicates the number of hospitals. The results of needs on Management Development subject 1) The educational needs of all respondents on 3 skill domains showed positive agreement to strongly positive agreement. 2) High priority(more than 4.5) items were 12 of 24 Human skill items(50%), 1 of 6 Technical skill items(16%), and 2 of 13 Conceptual skill items (15%). 3) Out of high priority items, 8 items were instituted. 4) All respondents showed high needs on 3 skill domains regardless of 3 positions (head nurse, charge nurse, and nurse). Educational needs of Human skill domain, according to position were 108. S, 108.7, 106.8 (mean score = 72) , needs of Technical skill domain were 26.5, 26.6, 26.I(mean score=18), and needs of Conceptual skill domains were 56.9,56.7, 55.1(mean score=39). 5) Needs of 3 skill domains according to clinical career showed significant difference. Out of respondents, nurses with career of over 16years showed lowest degree of needs in Human skill domains(F=4.47, P=.004) and Conceptual skill domain(F=2.93, P=.034). 6) Educational needs according to educational background were not significant difference. But out of respondents, nurses educated at 3-year junior college relatively showed lowest needs in all of the 3 skill domains. With the above-mentioned findings, further study is necessary for generalization of this study at hospitals with different bed size and location. Also it is needed to study about management skill of nurse and charge nurse, and effective educational method.
The purpose of this study is to understand the actual condition of Bogumjari Housing Complex residents' management consciousness and to provide suggestions on ways to induce residents' volunteer participation and practice of the apartment management. This study was performed on Bogumjari Housing Complex which was occupied in 2012 and the similar-sized apartment complex of the private condominium to compare and analyze their actual condition of management and consciousness of their residents. The results of the analysis could be summarized as follows: 1) In terms of management of operation, there is no distinct difference. In terms of maintenance management, Bogumjari Housing Complex has difficulty in maintenance because of lack of management manpower. Also, the apartment complex of the private condominium has higher spontaneous participation rate, which seems to be influenced by activation of various organizations. 2) In terms of the satisfaction of management process, Bogumjari Housing Complex has have higher satisfaction with promotion of the apartment Management Rules, but it has lower satisfaction with public hygiene, community facility maintenance and operation of program than that of apartment complex of the private condominium. 3) Bogumjari Housing Complex has higher maintenance and participation consciousness, drawing conclusion that Bogumjari Housing Complexs' residents have higher expectations for apartment, a keen interest and strong will.
The questionaire survey in this study was obtained from 1256 upper elementary children in a certain elementary school in In-Cheon city from May 1 to May 31 1993. The purpose of this study was to promote an understanding on the Actual condition of oral health management and to plan a desirable solution for oral health program by surveying the current status of oarl health management. The survey was carried out by using the questionaire after being modified and complemented which was used for the survey of the study on the actual condition of oral health management by Sin Seon Hang (1989). The major results are summarized as follows: 1. General tooth brushing of respondents. 1) As for frequency, 2 times it day is highest. 2) After breakfast meal and below 3 minutes is high. 3) Respondents brushed only teeth with the direction of up and down, left and right side. 4) The period of using for one tooth brush is from 4 months to 6 months. 2. The degree of recognition on oral health knowledge is low. 3. 1) The degree of dental examine's experience with scaling experience are 26.83%. 2) Respondents who experience dental treatment are 57.88%. 3) In oral disease, dental caries is highest. 4) Great difficulty of going to the dentists' is psychological thread and next is lack of time.
Molding conditions can be described as factors that determine the quality of a product obtained from injection molding. Many studies have been performed on the injection molding pressure, injection temperature, packing pressure and other molding conditions related to part quality. However, the most accessible factor among the adjustable molding conditions during actual injection is the injection speed. In this study, we simulated the variation of the physical quantity according to injection speed and performed experiments to understand the effect of injection speed on the actual product. A CAE analysis program (Moldflow) was used to simulate and analyze the results using PC and PBT for two models. In order to compare these results with the experimental results, an actual injection molding was performed for each injection speed, and the correlation between simulation and injection molding, especially for the shrinkage of the molded article, was discussed.
The purposes of this study actually measure to the dimension and the quality of material play equipment's examine whether they meet safety standards or not, and intend to offer basic data to present proper safety standards concerning the dimension of play equipment in the end. The subjects for this study were 59 outdoor playgrounds, 30 among them located in apartment sites and the remainder did in residential districts. The time of actual measurement was in June 1999, and June 2000. Data were analyzed into frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation by using SPSSWIN program. The main results were as follows.: First, more than half of playgrounds were assessed for being traffic hazards due to the adjacent streets. And they were hardly equipped with the toilet and drinking water facilities, but were almost equipped with the shade of a tree and benches. Second, it was caused in inconvenience of children's use and difficulty of play equipments'management, since the quality of play equipments materials was consisted of wood or metal. Third, the standards for swing and slide were established in detail and actual measurement's results were suitable to standards'value as well, whereas the standards for seesaw and climber were not in detail and they did not design or install suitably.
This study analyzed mothers' beliefs and practices for children's literacy acquisition by investigating the actual conditions of the literacy environment at home. The aim of this study is to understand what mothers believe about literacy, to recognize that children's literacy development is attained by activities done at home, and to provide basic data about parents' roles and guides for the development of a literacy education program for mothers and literacy development for children. As results of this study will show firstly that the actual conditions of the literacy environment for children at home begin before children are six months old, as most of mothers read to their children 2 or 3 times per week for more than 40-50 minutes. In addition, the study illustrate significant differences in mothers' literacy beliefs and practices according to the age of each child and the mothers educational background. A Third point that will be outlined is the way in which the developmental literacy belief among mothers' beliefs was related to the constructions and practices of mothers literacy environment. finally, the study will look at the influence of developmental literacy belief among mothers beliefs on practices of mothers literacy environments.
