Effect on Changes of Perceptions and Consumption of Kimchi in Children with Kimchi Experience Contents Employing Scientific Experimental Activity (과학 실험 활동을 적용한 김치 체험 콘텐츠가 아동의 섭취 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Kimchi is a traditional food in Korea and its function in health is globally recognized. However, as the westernization and simplification of dietary habits, kimchi consumption has decreased. In order to promote Kimchi consumption in children, the kimchi educational contents, "Exploring Kimchi", which employs the scientific experimental activity, was developed. This contents was evaluated on its educational effect through a test trial in an elementary school. A total of 137 5th grade students in one elementary school located in Gwangju Metropolitan City, participated in 3 programs that were carried out for 3 weeks and performed a pre-post survey. As a result, the Kimchi Experience Contents employing the scientific experimental activity showed statistically significant positive effects regarding the benefits of Kimchi consumption, the recognition behavior for expressing the familiarity to Kimchi and Kimchi eating intention. In addition, the amount of Kimchi consumption after applying the contents showed a significant increase compared to before applying the contents.

A Study of Anxiety, Depression and Disease Activity Index in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythemtosus (전신 홍반성 루푸스 환자의 불안, 우울 및 질병활성도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to describe anxiety, depression and disease activity index(SLEDAI) and correlations among these variables, to provide the basic information developing apporiate nursing interventions for the lupus patients. In this study, authors evaluated anxiety, depression and SLEDAI from 39 lupus patients at one university hospital in Seoul. Data were collected by using questionnaires and reviewing medical records. Frequencies, t-test, Duncan's multiple range test after ANOVA were evaluated with SAS program. The key results were as follows : 1. The average age of the subjects was 31.0 years and ranged from 20 to 51. Female comprised 70.9% and 79.5% were unemployed and housewife. Fifty one point nine percent of the sample had a spouse and above junior college graduates. 74.4% of the sample had a religion and average length of suffering from lupus was 66.59 months. Majority(94.9%) of the subjects had experience of hospitalization, and 55.3% had experience of learning about lupus and average number of learning was 3.9. 2. The average anxiety score of the subjects was 44.53, showing significant relationship with educational background(t=2.27, p< .05), monthly income(F=4.56. p< .05). 3. The depression score was 41.85, showing significant relationship with monthly income(F=3.81 p=0.0236) experience of learning about lupus(t=2.09, p< .05). 4. The SLEDAI score was 12.36, showing no significant relationship with demographical variables. 5. Anxiety showed positive correlations with depression(r=0.76, p< .001), SLEDAI(r=0.48, p< .01), and depression showed positive correlations with SLEDAI(r=0.42, p< .001).

A Convergence Study on the Relationship among Patient Safety Activity Experience, Patient Safety Perception and Willingness to Participate in the General Population (일반인의 환자안전활동 경험, 환자안전인식 및 환자참여 의지 간의 관계에 관한 융합연구)

  • This cross-sectional study investigated the relationship among three factors related to patient safety activities: (1) Experiences, (2) Perceptions, and (3) Willingness to Participate. An online survey was administered to 195 people in November 2019. Participants were admitted to a general hospital within the past year. Patient safety activity experience had a significant direct effect on patient safety perception, and patient safety perception had a significant direct effect on willingness to participate. Patient safety perception thus significantly mediates the relationship between patient safety activity experience and willingness to participate. It is necessary to increase patient safety perception through publicity of and educating on patient safety activities performed by hospitals. Doing so may increase willingness to participate in patient safety activities.

The Role of Visitor's Positive Emotions on Satisfaction and Loyalty with the Perception of Perceived Restorative Environment of Healing Garden

  • Background and objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of visitors' positive emotions on satisfaction and loyalty with the perception of restorative environment of a healing garden created in an urban agriculture expo. Methods: The psychological indicators to the images of the healing garden were analyzed by the visitors' demographic variables and the three factors of plant cultivation activity level: plant cultivation experience, plant preference, and plant-related event. Results: Between age groups and occupational groups, significant differences were found statistically. The Perceived Restorativeness Scale(PRS) showed significantly differences between age groups in repose, fascination and legibility. The Positive Affect & Negative Affect Schedule(PANAS) showed statistically significant differences between age groups in positive emotions. In addition, we investigated the correlation between the PANAS and the three factors of plant cultivation experience level, the four factors of the PRS, satisfaction and loyalty. The three factors of plant cultivation experience level, the four factors of the PRS, satisfaction and loyalty showed a positive correlation with positive emotions and were inversely correlated with negative emotions significantly. Multiple regression analysis with dummy variables was conducted to examine the effects of plant cultivation activity level, attention restoration, and the PANAS on healing garden visitors' satisfaction and loyalty. As a result, among the four factors of the PRS, fascination and positive affectivity were significant variables that affect healing garden visitors' satisfaction and loyalty. Conclusion: The results indicated that the higher the attention restoration of visitors due to the fascination of the healing garden and the higher their positive affectivity and the more they have plant-related memories, the higher their impact on healing garden visitors' satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, fascinating natural environments or greenery landscapes like healing gardens where people can contact plants would reduce negative emotions such as anger and sadness but to increase positive emotions such as pleasure, joy and satisfaction.

A Study on the Changing in Self-esteem and Depression of Nursing College Students after Voluntary Program (사회봉사 교과목 수강전후 간호학생들의 자아존중감 및 우울에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of the voluntary program experience with curriculum on self-esteem and depression in nursing college students. The research design utilized in this study was one group pre test-post test design. The data were gathered two times with questionnaire. First data were gathered before voluntary activity. And second data were gathered after instruction and five times voluntary activity. The data were analized by frequency, paired t-test. t-test. and ANOVA using the SAS program. The results were as follows 1. After the activity the scores of self-esteem were significantly higher than before the activity. 2. After the activity the scores of depression were significantly lower than before the activity. 3. The relationship between self-esteem and depression were negatives in both before and after the activity. 4. Before voluntary activity the scores of self-esteem in the class choosing the Culture Exploration were significantly high. but after the activity the scores of self-esteem were not significantly different. 5. As opinion on attendance of lecture class of voluntary activity program. before voluntary activity the scores of depression were not significantly different. but after the activity the scores of depression were significantly different.

Effects of Challenges and Skills on Flow-focused on a 2D Shopping Mall and a 3D Shopping Mall (도전감과 능력이 플로우에 미치는 영향 -20 쇼핑몰과 30 쇼핑몰을 중심으로-)

  • Flow has attracted more interests in consumer behaviors, with pleasure and fantasy getting more important in shopping. "Flow" means the experience with which consumers feel as pleased and satisfied as in playing pleasantly, and the optimal experience they feel when they are indulged in an activity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among challenges, skills, flow experience, and future behavioral intention in online shopping malls. In addition, a 3D shopping mall and a 2D shopping mall were selected as the stimuli in order to examine the differences in flow experience in accordance with web site types. A survey questionnaire was developed and 700 data(2D group: n=380, 3D group: n=320) were used for analysis. Data were analyzed through structural equation model to explore effects of challenges and skills on flow. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the perception of higher challenges and skills led to positive flow experience and higher time distortion. Second, the higher the level of time distortion was, the higher the flow experience was. This means that a shopping mall will increase flow experience, if it is interesting enough to be unaware of time passing. Third, flow experience had a positive influence on future behavioral intention. Finally, in all variables except skills, the impact of 3D shopping mall is greater than that of 2D shopping mall, which means that web site types affect flow experience.

  • In this research, we analyzed the performance of the e-village shopping mall as an online agricultural business platform. The results suggested some critical factors that might assist the e-village owners to increase their sales by implementing the e-village information systems. We hypothesized that IT education, IT usage, online community activity, and organizational knowledge sharing influenced the e-village sales. Moreover, we investigated the moderating effect of rural experience tourism on those independent variables (IT education, IT usage, online community activity, and organizational knowledge sharing). The results indicated that online community activity had a positive effect on the online business sales, while IT education, IT usage, and organizational knowledge sharing showed insignificant effects. Furthermore, the interaction effects between rural experience tourism and both IT education and the IT usage were positive and significant. Thus, we conclude that the rural experience tourism moderated the relationship between (1) IT education and e-village sales, and (2) IT usage and e-village sales, but not the relationship between (1) online community activity and e-village sales, and (2) organizational knowledge sharing and e-village sales.

Young Children's User Experience on Dramatic Activities Relying on Robot Projector Based Augmented Reality (증강현실기술과 로봇을 적용한 동극활동유형에 대한 유아의 사용자 경험)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate young children's user experience on three types of dramatic activity: traditional dramatic activities, dramatic activities relying on robot projector based augmented reality and creative dramatic activities relying on robot projector based augmented reality. Participants were 20 five-year-old children attending D kindergarten, in Seoul, Korea. They read 3 picture books, then did 3 types of dramatic activities in order. Participants were divided into 3 groups in each activity then they took a role as actors and audiences in order. After all dramatic activities had been done, participants had been interviewed regarding to user experience. The findings of this study are as follows; First, the most interesting dramatic activity for young children was creative dramatic activities relying on robot projector based augmented reality. On the other hand, the least interesting activity was traditional dramatic activities. Second, They answered it the easiest one for them the dramatic activities relying on robot projector based augmented reality, whereas the hardest one was the creative dramatic activities relying on robot projector based augmented reality. Thirdly, all the participants answered that it was not hard for them to use the technology embedded in dramatic activities relying on robot projector based augmented reality. They acknowledged the effects of augmented reality technology and the role of robot as well. The result of this study would suggest the feasibility of new technology promoting young children's digital literacy.

A Study on the Development of Fruit Tree Experience Programs Based on User Segmentation

  • Fruit trees are a key part of agriculture in rural areas and have recently been a part of ecotourism or agrotourism. This study analyzes user segmentation based on user motivation to determine characteristics of potential customers in fruit tree farms, and thereby develop fruit tree experience and educational programs. We conducted a survey of 253 potential customers of fruit tree experience programs in September 2017. Data were evaluated using factor and cluster analyses. The results of the cluster analysis identified four distinct segments based on potential customers' motivations, that is, activity-oriented, learning-oriented, leisure-oriented, and purchase-oriented. These clusters showed that significant differences in the preference of potential customers exist. Different markets were segmented based on the benefits sought by users. The segments' characteristics were identified and activities relevant to each segment were proposed for rural tourism. Lastly, this study suggests directions for development of fruit tree farm experience and educational programs.

The Effects of Childcare Centers Accreditation on Teachers' Utilization of Activity Materials and Interaction with Children (보육시설 평가인증이 보육교사의 보육활동 자료활용 및 유아와의 상호작용에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, many childcare centers have actively participated in assessment accreditation. 115 teachers who did participate or did not participate in the accreditation process completed a structured questionnaire, We examined differences between teachers in accredited centers and in non-accredited centers in terms of their individual characteristics, work environment, the utilization of activity materials and the interaction with children. In addition, using the regression model, we analyzed the effects of several characteristics of teachers and childcare center's accreditation on the utilization of activity materials as well as the interactions between teachers and children. The main results of this study are as follows. First, overall, the level of work environment of non-accredited centers was lower than that of accredited centers. Second, compared with teachers in non-accredited centers, teachers in accredited centers used more and higher levels of activity materials, and demonstrated a higher level of interactions with children. Third, including accreditation, use of helpers had a significant effect on the interactions between teacher and children. Forth, not only the accreditation system, but also work hours, work experience, children's age and use of helpers had a significant effect on using materials in childcare activities. Conclusively, understanding the experience of teachers in accredited centers is important hi terms of facilitating the quality of activities and the interactions with children.
