There has been general tendency to explain the traditional ginseng efficacy through the pharmacological and biochemical activities of ginsenosides. However, when we analyze the pharmacological and biological data on ginseng reported yet, we can easily arrive at the conclsion that most of the data on pharmacological and biological activities must have been obtained using impure ginsenoside samples, which should contain some non-saponin constituents as impurities. Based on the above back-ground, the non-saponin constituents of ginseng were studied in our laboratory. Phenolic substances including Maltol, Vanillic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Ferrulic Acid and Caffeic acid and impure ginsenoside samples were found to show strong antioxidant and anti-fatigue activities, while pure ginsenosides were devoid of the activities. Maltol, one of antioxidant components In Korean red ginseng drew a special interest due to its very low pro-oxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of ginseng may be considered as scientific basis for the antiageing activity which was described in traditional medicinal material book as "long-term medication of ginseng will improve bio-efficiency and extend life-span" The lignin components, another non-saponin consitutents, isolated from ginseng extract In our laboratory may eplain the hepato-protective activity of ginseng which has been repeatedly rtaimed as one of the efficacies of ginsenosides. The P-carboline alkaloids isolated in our laboratory as one of the non-saponin constituents of ginseng may play some pharmacological activities which should also be investigated. Present paper will include chemistry and biochemical aspects of the non-saponin constituents of ginseng with special interests for the explanation of traditional ginseng efficacy on modern scientific basis.fic basis.

The traditional Korea medical book already recorded various biological activities of the Korean mistletoes. The objective of this study was examine antifungal activities of MeOH extract from the Korean mistletoe through column chromatography on three fungi, such as Tyromyces palustris Endothia nitschkei and Trichophyton rubrum. No mistletoes had anti-fungal activity against T. palusties. Extracts of V. album var. coloratum showed the highest hyphal growth-inhibitory activity against E. nitschkei and leaf extract of this species had higher activity than twig extract. Further fractionation of most active fraction and following antifungal assay showed that its anti-fungal activity might be caused by synergism if its components. It was suggested that Viscum album var. coloratum shows significantly antifungal activities against E. nitschkei and T. rubrum. Further examination is needed to find out more exact active compounds.

The reading activity of university students is the key element for the cultivation of creative human resources, and each university develops and performs the various cultural education and library program. Actually, the university libraries check the service periodically through library satisfaction surveys and the library user's actual condition survey to improve it, but the amount of reading, number of books lent and the rate of borrowers are still under expectation. Therefore, in this research, an in-depth analysis of lending books data for freshmen, as the service improvement and revitalization measures of university libraries for students, suggested the following: (1) the early education for the library users, (2) the opening of the students-participating library collections, (3) the use of the data using a library for the consulting with students (4) the establishment of the library depositary for education support, and (5) the introduction of the library CRM for individual student. Through this result, it would be substantially helpful for each university library (including two-year college), in which the number of lending books and the rate of borrowers are below expectations.

Technological development, a diverse range of media adapting to new technology has been developing. Augmented Reality Technology provides realistic information through the stereoscopic 3D images and it has been riding a wave of learner interest as an educational media which can broaden their learning experience through direct operating activity. The biggest reason why the Augmented Reality has gained such attention is because of its unique way of suggesting learning information that unlike the existing educational media, the Augmented Reality provides additional digitalized information while its users are looking at the actual object. Based on the domestic and foreign cases of development for educational contents using the Augmented Reality Technology, this thesis suggests the utilization of Pop-up books and multi-augmented Digilog Books that are ways to maximize the educational effects of the Augmented Reality. Through the development of smartphone applications that are propagating lately at a rapid rate, users can now use the Augmented Reality educational contents in a way that is easier than ever.

This study set out to analyze donation cases at public libraries, to propose plans to overcome their limitations of deficient operation budgets, and to vitalize donations at libraries. The investigator conducted a survey on the perceptions of donation activities at public libraries with a group of staff members in charge at public libraries that participated in the distribution project of books donated by publishers led by the Korean Library Association. In addition to the outcomes of project participation, the study also examined and analyzed the perceptions of in-house donation activities at public libraries in 2016. Furthermore, it looked into previous studies and cases of library donations home and abroad, identifying limitations and improvement measures of donation activities at public libraries and proposing plans to overcome them.

The purpose of this paper was to analyze the kinds and roles of multimedia materials in E-works that are distributed with elementary textbooks (3~6 grade) of the 2009 revised science curriculum. Five criteria (forms, goals, key competencies, inquiry process, running time) were set for this. The sample of the paper was the 784 multimedia materials in E-works of elementary science textbooks (3~6 grade) of the 2009 revised science curriculum. The results of the multimedia materials analysis are as follows: The result of the material forms of multimedia is that the form of highest ratio is text type. But all forms were used evenly in E-work. 56.2% of the multimedia materials are for "inquiry" in the goal criteria, and 65.0% of the multimedia materials are related to "science inquiry" in the key competencies criteria. Two facts indicate many multimedia is used to develop students' inquiry ability. However the ratio of multimedia materials in motivation step is higher than that in inquiry activity step. In analysis of running time, the ratio of "under 5 min" multimedia materials is the highest. But, the ratio of 5~10 min multimedia materials in inquiry part is higher than that in motivation part in The Chi-square test between "running time" and "parts" that consist of motivation part and inquiry part. Through the analysis of module and the categorizing the multimedia materials, we found that the multimedia materials play eleven roles in E-works that are distributed with elementary textbooks.

The Pythagorean theorem is one of the most important theorem which appeared in school mathematics. Allowing our pupils to rediscover it in classroom, we must know how this theorem was discovered and proved. Further, we should recompose that historical knowledge to practical program which might be suitable to them So, firstly this paper surveyed the history of mathematics on discovering the Pyth-agorean theorem. This theorem was known to many ancient civilizatons: There are evidences that Babylonian and Indian had the knowledges on the relationship among the sides of a right triangle. In Zhoubi suanjing, which was ancient Chinese text book, was the proof of the Pythagorean theorem in special case. And then this paper proposed a teaching program that is composed following five tasks : 1) To draw up squares on geo-board that are various in size and shape, 2) To invent squares that are n-times bigger than a given square, 3) Discovering the Pyth-agorean theorem through the previous activity, 4) To prove the Pythagorean theorem in special case, 5) To prove the Pythagorean theorem in general case.

The pharmaceutical effects of Korean traditional foods made in ${\ulcorner$Eumsikdimibang${\lrcorner}$ were studied. Eumsikdimibangis a representative ancient book of cooking, which was published in 1653 by Mme. Jang. The type of food in Eumsikdimibang were Guksu(wheat vermicelli as like western noodles) Mandu(bun stuffed with seasoned meat and vegetables), Guk(soup), J'IM(steam meat or fish). Chae, Noorumi, Hyae(sliced raw fish), Jockpyun(jellied beef soup), Jockgall(salted seafood), Kimchi, Juk(skewer or broach) Jhee. Sun(steaming of stuffed vegetable), Bockuem, Jeon(pan fried fish), Gui(meat or fish grilled with seasoning), Dock(Korean rice cake), Jabgwa, Beverage and Junggwa. Acontii Tuber is very toxious material, but In oriental medicine frequently used for emergency state like shock, coma, and severe pain and author study about Acontii Tuber in Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun(方藥合編). Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun(方藥合編) is widely used for clinical herbal prescpition book. Acontii Tuber has alkaloid. this chemical compound make toxious state like arrythmia, heart arrest, weakness, numbness, itching. And using this material must be careful. In Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun(方藥合編) Acontii Tuber is used 1.2g ~ 12g. and it decrease pain, inflammation, increase activity of heart, and Acontii Tuber' commom use is severe pain disease. Raw Acontii Tuber(生附子) is rarely used, mostly roasted Acontii Tuber. In case of Acontii Tuber toxic state, in oriental medicine Gam-du-tang(甘豆湯) & Go-sam(苦蔘) is used, in western medicine atropine & lidocane is used.
