The purpose of this study is to investigate how free inquiry activities affects the scientific process skills and scientific attitudes of 5th and 6th of elementary school students. For this study, 265 elementary students from 5th and 6th grade in Seoul were selected. In comparison group 130 students were implemented and to the experimental group 135 students who did not the free inquiry activities were implemented. The result of this study is as follows: First, curiosity was the most affective factor that motivate free inquiry activities and made them select their topics. Most of the students invested for the inquiry activity in less than 3 weeks. They had some help in every stages. Students became interested in free inquiry activities because they learned new facts and enjoyed doing experiments and they wanted to continue for the same reasons. Second, free inquiry activities had little effect on the basic science process skills of the experimental group, compared to the control group at the significant difference of p=0.05. Third, free inquiry activities had considerable effect on the integrative inquiry process skills of the experimental group, compared to the control group at the significant difference of p=0.05. Fourth, the result of the post-test of the experimental group showed that free inquiry activities had no effect on scientific attitudes at the significant difference of p=0.05. In conclusion, free inquiry activities will be much more effective in developing integrative inquiry process skills than in developing basic scientific process skills and scientific attitudes.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science toy making activities on the scientific interest and the conceptual understanding of elementary school students. In this study, science toy making activities were applied to an experimental group and traditional learning activities were applied to the control group. The science toy making activities comprised thirteen steps and were administered during class. In the scientific interest test, there was a statistically significant difference between the score of the experimental group and that of the control group. In particular, post-test scores were higher than pre-test scores in the experimental group, while they were lower than this in the control group. It appeared that students had positive thoughts about science toy making activities. These science toy making activities had positive effects on the conceptual understanding of the experimental group students. The post-test scores of the experimental group were higher than that of the control group in all domain concepts. From these results, it can be deduced that the science toy making activities were more effective than traditional teaming activities. They were an effective teaching technique which enhanced the scientific interests and the conceptual understanding of the students in question.
To evaluate the effects of Dexamethasone(Dex), Platelet derived growth factor-BB(PDGF) and combination of Dex and PDGF(DP) on the growth and differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells, Dex($10^{-7}\;M$) and PDGF(10 ng/ml) in experimental group were added to the cells at the days 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and examined for cell proliferation activities, DNA synthesis activities, ALP activities and bone nodule formation. The results were as follows : 1. In Dex group, cell proliferation, DNA synthesis and ALP activities were lower until 15 days when compared to the control group. Bone nodules formation were shown at 10 days. 2. In PDGF group, cell proliferation and DNA synthesis activities were higher until 15 days and ALP activities were lower when compared to the control and Dex groups. Bone nodules formation were shown at 20 days. 3. In DP group, cell proliferation and DNA synthesis activities of PDGF were suppressed by Dex and synergistic effects of combination of Dex and PDGF on ALP activities were shown at days 5 when compared to control and Dex groups. Bone nodules formation activities of Dex were suppressed by PDGF.
The purpose of this research is to know the influence of high school students' activities of Marine Sports on the development of their sociality by comparing students in this activities with those who are not in this activities. The objects of this research are high school students who live in Busan at present. The total number of the object is 146, including 74 students who participated in this organization and 72 students who didn't participate in this organization. We have reached the following conclusion after analyzing the materials according to the methods and procedures of the research. In the domain of activity, the students who are in Marine sport activities are statistically different from those who are not. In the domain of stability, the students who are in Marine sport activities are meaningfully different from those who are not. In the domain of ascendancy, the students who are in Marine sport activities are meaningfully different from those who are not. In the domain of sociability, the students who are in Marine sport activities are meaningfully different from those who are not. In the domain of self-control, the students who are in Marine sport activities are meaningfully different from those who are not.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the physical activities of individuals post-stroke and their HRQL, as well as to determine whether their functional abilities contribute to their amounts of physical activity. METHODS: The study's subjects included 90 individuals post-stroke. Their amounts of physical activity were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and their HRQL was measured using the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-form Health Survey (SF-36). In addition, the functional abilities of the subjects were measured. For the measures of physical activities and the HRQL, Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to identify the strengths of the associations between the measures. A hierarchical linear regression model was used to determine whether physical activities had independent impacts on the HRQL. RESULTS: This study found that the physical activities performed by the subjects affected the SF-36 physical component score (PCS) (12%). However, the physical activities and the SF-36 mental component score (MCS) showed no statistically significant relationship, whereas functional abilities and physical activities had a statistically significant relationship (r = .57~.86, p<.001). CONCLUSION: The present study identified a correlation between physical activity and the PCS. Therefore, individuals post-stroke should be encouraged to carry out more physical activities, including more frequent walking activities.

Objectives: We aimed to examine the effects of various leisure activities on cognitive impairment in young-old (aged 65-74 years) and old-old (aged ${\geq}75$ years) adults. Methods: In total, 10,279 elderly Korean individuals from the 2014 Korean National Survey on Older Adults' cohort were enrolled in our study. Cognitive impairment was assessed using the standardized score of the Mini-Mental State Examination for Dementia Screening, whereas leisure activities were recorded via self-reporting of the extent and type of leisure activity the subjects involved in over the past year. Multivariate logistic regression was used to assess the effect of leisure activities on cognitive impairment, while controlling for potential covariates. Results: The subjects were more likely to participate in cognitive activities than in non-exercise physical activities. After controlling for selected covariates, involvement in cognitive activities was found to be a significant predictor of cognitive impairment in both the groups, whereas involvement in non-exercise physical activities was not a predictor of cognitive impairment in individuals aged ${\geq}75$ years. Moreover, depressive symptoms, rural residence, and hearing difficulties were common predictors of cognitive impairment among elderly-Korean-individuals. Conclusion: Leisure activity involvement may help delay cognitive impairment, which is often concomitant with aging. Hence, an early intervention service may significantly benefit both young-old and old-old individuals.
Objectives: Presenteeism is currently recognized as a significant global health issue that can potentially cause productivity losses. Hence, many studies have analyzed the relationships between workplace factors and presenteeism. However, few studies have considered non-occupational factors. This study examined the associations between presenteeism and activities outside work, including volunteering, self-development, leisure/sports, and gardening and house repair activities, in Korean wage workers. Methods: This study analyzed the fourth Korean Working Conditions Survey, in which a total of 19 294 wage workers participated. To identify relationships between presenteeism and activities outside work, multivariate logistic regression analysis was used after adjusting for general and occupational characteristics. Results: Self-development and leisure/sports activities significantly increased the odds ratio (OR) of presenteeism (OR, 1.166; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.061 to 1.282 and OR, 1.276; 95% CI, 1.181 to 1.379, respectively). Conclusions: Certain activities outside work, such as self-development or leisure/sports, were related to presenteeism among Korean wage workers. Although many previous studies have emphasized the positive effects of those activities on health, this study documented negative effects of these activities outside work on health.

Objective: This study aimed to examine childcare teachers' perceptions and practice of music-math integrated activities, and their understanding of these activities. Methods: This study involved 201 childcare teachers from Seoul and surrounding areas. Surveys were employed to collect data on their background, implementation of music-math integrated activities, and the challenges they encountered. Additionally, a tool was also developed and utilized to measure the actual understanding of these activities. Data were analyzed using t-tests and ANOVA. Results: The results indicated that while teachers recognize the importance of integrated activities, they seldom implement them due to challenges related to resources and comprehension of concepts. Significant differences in the understanding of these activities were found based on teachers' experience, workplace type, age group of children under their care, and education level. Conclusion/Implications: In conclusion, the findings emphasize the necessity for the development and provision of pre-service and in-service training programs, along with support in educational materials for childcare teachers. These efforts are crucial to facilitate the effective implementation of music-math integrated activities.
This study investigated the effects of social responsibility activities on consumer attitudes, product evaluation, corporate support, and corporate trust through structural equations and path analysis. Corporate social responsibility activities were divided into five areas: consumer and environmental protection, social contribution, cultural business, and economic responsibility, and the relative impact on consumer attitudes was considered. The results and strategic implications of this study are as follows. The same results as in previous studies confirmed that the performance of corporate social responsibility activities induces positive attitudes and behaviors of consumers. It proved that the performance of corporate social responsibility activities leads consumers to form a positive attitude, which can eventually be transferred to products and corporate images by a halo effect, leading to product evaluation, corporate support and trust. In addition, the composition dimension and measurement items of corporate social responsibility activities were re-verified, and from a consumer point of view, it was confirmed that social responsibility activities include not only economic activities, but also activities that contribute positively, such as social contribution, support for local and cultural projects, and actions that do not harm society as a whole, such as protecting consumer rights and protecting the environment.
