  • Target Motion Analysis(TMA) for Passive Sonar Systems with bearing-only measurements needs to enhance system observability to improve target tracking performance by ownship maneuvering. However, tracking problem incurred by weak observaility result in slow convergence of the target estimates. On the other hand, active sonar systems do not have problem associated with system observaility. However, it drawback related to system survivability.   • Passive, semi-active and active dampers have been used to dissipate energy in mechanical systems. Semi-active dampers have higher performance than passive dampers and require lower power to operate than active dampers. Its damping characteristics can be changed appropriately for varying conditions. In this paper, we developed a semi-active damper based on Magnetorheological(MR) fluid. MR fluid has a variable damping characteristics proportional for the magnetic field intensity. It has several advantages such as high strength, low viscosity, robustness in impurities and wide temperature range of operational stability. We designed a constrained rotary MR damper base on valve mode which can dissipate more energy per unit volume. The system with Bingham characteristics is obtained and proved by the experiment.

능동전륜조향장치 및 능동후륜제동장치의 통합제어기 개발 (Development of an Integrated Control System between Active Front Wheel System and Active Rear Brake System)

  • An integrated dynamic control (IDCF) with an active front steering system and an active rear braking system is proposed and developed in this study. A fuzzy logic controller is applied to calculate the desired additional steering angle and desired slip of the rear inner wheel. To validate IDCF system, an eight degree of freedom, nonlinear vehicle model and a sliding mode wheel slip controller are also designed. Various road conditions are used to test the performance. The results show that the yaw rate of IDCF vehicle followed the reference yaw rate and reduced the body slip angle, compared with uncontrolled vehicle. Thus, the IDCF vehicle had enhanced lateral stability and controllability.

EMI Noise Reduction with New Active Zero State PWM for Integrated Dynamic Brake Systems

  • Based on the application of an integrated dynamic brake (IDB) system that uses a PWM inverter fed-AC motor drive to operate the piston, a new active zero state PWM (AZSPWM) is proposed to improve the stability and reliability of the IDB system by suppressing the conducted electro-magnetic interference (EMI) noise under a wide range of load torque. The new AZSPWM reduces common-mode voltage (CMV) by one-third when compared to that of the conventional space vector PWM (CSVPWM). Although this method slightly increases the output current ripple by reducing the CMV, like the CSVPWM, it can be used within the full range of the load torque. Further, unlike other reduced common-mode voltage (RCMV) PWMs, it does not increase the switching power loss. A theoretical analysis is presented and experiments are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

Design of a 25 mW 16 frame/s 10-bit Low Power CMOS Image Sensor for Mobile Appliances

  • A CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) mounted on mobile appliances requires low power consumption due to limitations of the battery life cycle. In order to reduce the power consumption of CIS, we propose novel power reduction techniques such as a data flip-flop circuit with leakage current elimination and a low power single slope analog-to-digital (A/D) converter with a sleep-mode comparator. Based on 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process, the chip satisfies QVGA resolution (320 ${\times}$ 240 pixels) that the cell pitch is 2.25 um and the structure is a 4-Tr active pixel sensor. From the experimental results, the performance of the CIS has a 10-b resolution, the operating speed of the CIS is 16 frame/s, and the power dissipation is 25 mW at a 3.3 V(analog)/1.8 V(digital) power supply. When we compare the proposed CIS with conventional ones, the power consumption was reduced by approximately 22% in the sleep mode, and 20% in the active mode.

능동형 횡동요 감쇠장치의 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Performance of Active Anti-Rolling Tank Stabilizer System)

  • 제주대학교 실습선 아라호에 정착된 능동형 횡동요 감쇠장치의 성능에 관해 연구하기 위하여 33$^{\circ}$00‘.44”N, 125$^{\circ}$59’.88 ”E 위치에서 선박을 정지한 후, 횡동요 감쇠장치를 정지 (Passive A.R.T), 작동 (Active A.R.T)을 했을 때 경사계에 의한 횡동요각 및 종동요각, 풍속계에 의한 풍속의 변화와 그리고 선박이 항해 중에 감쇠장치의 작동을 정지(Passive A.R.T), 작동(Active A.R.T) 했을 때 의 능동형 횡동요 감쇠장치의 성능을 분석한 결과에 대해 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 선박이 정지했을 때 횡동요 감쇠장치를 정지, 작동한 경우 횡동요각의 평균진폭 (Average Amplitude of Roll) 은 각각 8.30$^{\circ}$, 4.37$^{\circ}$, 횡동요각의 유의진폭(Significant Amplitude of Roll $_{{\pi}{1/3}}$)은 각각 10.10$^{\circ}$, 5.30$^{\circ}$으로 나타났다. 2. 선박이 항해 중 일 때에는 횡동요각의 평균진폭 (Average Amplitude of Roll)은 각각 5.01$^{\circ}$, 4.36$^{\circ}$, 횡동요각의 유의진폭 (Significant Amplitude of Roll$^{\circ}$) 은 각각 5.50$^{\circ}$, 5.10$^{\circ}$으로 각각 나타났다. 3. 횡동요 감쇠장치는 선박이 정치했을 때에는 47.5%, 선박이 운항 했을 때는 12.7% 정도의 감쇠 효율을 보여서 정지했을 때 그 효율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 4. 횡동요 감쇠 장치는 종동요(Pitching)에 대해서는 거의 영향을 미치지 않았다.

  • This paper presents modal contribution method to reduce vehicle vibration. Normal mode analysis is performed to obtain modal vector matrix. The proposed method uses this modal vector matrix to evaluate forced response of an active mode to the applied engine forces and the rotating force due to wheel unbalance mass. Comparing the responses, of the specific active mode with one another, it can be easily done to determine most contributed mode in the interesting frequency band. Then we can find dominant bushes by the strain energy distribution of the mode. Vibration response is decrease with modification of those bushes.

  • The compensation strategy of shunt active power filters is one of the most important link that determine its compensation characteristics. In this paper, a new interpretation of the instantaneous reactive power theory in three-phase circuits was proposed. A compensation strategy (ip, iq mode) was introduced on the basis of the new interpretation. This compensation strategy was compared with other two compensation strategies(P, q mode and UPF mode). When source voltage is distorted, a sinusoidal, the three compensation strategies are equivalent to each other. When source voltage is distorted, a sinusoidal source current may result only by using ip, iq mode. This is the advantage of ip, iq mode. The result is verified by simulation.

Performance of rotational mode based indices in identification of added mass in beams

  • This study investigates the identification of added mass and its location in the glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) beam structures. The main emphasis of this paper is to ascertain the importance of inclusion of rotational degrees of freedom (dofs) in the introduction of added mass or damage identification. Two identification indices that include the rotational dofs have been introduced in this paper: the modal force index (MFI) and the modal rotational curvature index (MRCI). The MFI amplifies damage signature using undamaged numerical stiffness matrix which is related to changes in the altered mode shapes from the original mode shapes. The MRCI is obtained by using a higher derivative of rotational mode shapes. Experimental and numerical results are compared with the existing methods leading to a conclusion that the contributions of the rotational modes play a key role in the identification of added mass. The authors believe that the similar results are likely in the case of damage identification also.

  • In this paper, a unified regenerative inverter and control algorithm are proposed in order to perform regenerative action and active power filter action. While the regenerative mode of traction, it works as regenerative inverter to reduce a excessive power of DC bus line and the powering mode of the traction, it works as active power filter to compensate ac current distortion, power factor, and voltage unbalance. In the paper, a regeneration inverter used PWM DC/AC inverter algorithm. And an active power filter used p-q theory. We are carrying out a mode analysis of DC traction system similar to actual system with MG-set and experimenting with prototype model. Through the simulation and experiment, we were proving the regeneration inverter operation which suggested in this paper.
