Autophagy is a lysosome-dependent intracellular degradation process that allows recycling of cytoplasmic constituents into bioenergetic and biosynthetic materials for maintenance of homeostasis. Since the function of autophagy is particularly important in various stress conditions, perturbation of autophagy can lead to cellular dysfunction and diseases. Accumulation of abnormal protein aggregates, a common cause of neurodegenerative diseases, can be reduced through autophagic degradation. Recent studies have revealed defects in autophagy in most cases of neurodegenerative disorders. Moreover, deregulated excessive autophagy can also cause neurodegeneration. Thus, healthy activation of autophagy is essential for therapeutic approaches in neurodegenerative diseases and many autophagy-regulating compounds are under development for therapeutic purposes. This review describes the overall role of autophagy in neurodegeneration, focusing on various therapeutic strategies for modulating specific stages of autophagy and on the current status of drug development.

The objective of this study is to investigate the commercializations and difficulties on the farm-food. For the activation of the farm-food, it is necessary to totally review the support of the government and prepare the supporting system like manual on the commercialization of farm-food that is helpful to the small farmers. It is also necessary to support small farms strategies customized for increase the sales and satisfaction on farm-food and build-up the promotion related to the green tour and/or farm experience. The results and finding of this study can be used to build-up the supporting system that reflects the rapid change of market and customer's preference. They can also be used to design rational policies that is helpful to the farm-food producers.

The purpose of this study was to develop an educational program of leadership for housewives as the CEO of household management. For this purpose, the related concepts of leadership as CEO were analyzed and cases on the educational program for housewives were reviewed. The program developed through this study consists of four subjects: 1. The housewives' identity 2. Household management and the CEO 3. The strategies for the development of leadership and 4. The connection between the individual household, the community, and society. It can be expected that the program will contribute to the activation of various programs in the Healthy Families Center and the strong positioning of research in "family resource management" as a practical science.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the competitiveness between Busan New Port and Shanghai's New Yangshan Port, on an island 20 miles off the Chinese mainland coast. For this aim, the paper examines backgrounds of Yangshan Port construction and its related projects, namely, Donghai Bridge and Luchao Logistics Park including operation strategies of Yangshan New Deepwater Port. The main results of this paper are as follows: Busan New Port has competitive advantage over Yangshan Port in terms of ideal location, especially in Asia-North America route, and connection between terminal and hinterland logistics park. Because Busan New Port is operated by fully on-dock system. Nevertheless, Yangshan Port has more strength in its centrality, port tariff and port productivity, which are represented by crane productivity, quay productivity and area productivity. Therefore, Korean ports are recommended by transformation from cargo attraction-type to cargo generation-type port through early activation of port logistics center along with Free Economic Zone.

As the number of smart phone users increases, many organizations begin to adopt social media rapidly to diversify communication channels with customers. Specifically, micro-blog, which supports instant and two-way communications between users and between organizations and users, has been adopted by many organizations as an efficient way not only to identify new customers but also to retain existing customers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the usage motivation and satisfaction of enterprise twitter based on use and gratifications perspectives comparing with Korea and China. Based on prior studies on use and gratifications of internet-related media, information seeking, pleasure/entertainment, relationship, communication, and incentives were identified as usage motivations of enterprise Micro-blog. This study contributes to provide the base of activation strategies and practical implications for micro-blog as a marketing tool.

이제 e-러닝은 전 세계적으로 21세기형 교육 패러다임으로 부상하였고 단순히 정보통신매체 기반의 학습개념을 넘어서 국가 인적자원 개발을 통한 경쟁력 강화의 핵심 동력이 되었다. 하지만 이러한 국가 차원의 지원과 급속한 확산 속도에 비해서 실제적으로 e-러닝을 이용하고 있는 이용자들에 대한 구체적인 이용현황 조사는 미미한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 e-러닝 경험이 있는 대학생들을 중심으로 이용현황을 직접 조사하여, 그 결과 나타난 여러 가지 문제점과 현실적인 대안을 제시하고 실제적인 e-러닝 활성화에 기여하고자 한다.

Investigations were made on the status of women groups on processing activities of agricultural products for the Hyogo prefecture in Japan. The data were analyzed with the Hideyosi for Windows(Version 1.19) and the Econometric View for Quantative Micro Softwere(Version 2.0). The results indicats that many rural women groups have their own experience on the activities of processing agricultural products and many other women groups have gained such experience from the management and establishment of the restaurants and direct sales stores. This kind of systems has influenced the activation of each rural district. Further development of the processing of agricultural products by rural women groups in the future demands better cooperation among diverse groups involved in these establishment centers and consumers. In addition, it is necessary to attract young people and train and upgrade them for successive consumers. (Korean J of Human Ecology 2(1) : 68∼79, 1999)

The rapid expansion of regionalism has resulted in the creation of blocs of the global economy, so that those countries not belonging to one or more blocs can be discrimiated. Though signed on the bill of FTA with Chile, Korea is actually alienated from major stream of the blocs. Therefore, Korea government makes efforts to contract more FTAs with countries such as Singapore and Japan, others. FTA is believed to be an important method to secure export and national competitiveness. Therefore, we need to exactly understand critical issues and the long-run effort of FTA. This paper tries to find out important issues and potential strategies relating to electronic commerce in Korea's FTA with other countries. In these means, relationship between FTA and e-Trade are closely related to global business chance. In these means, we should use FTA potentials for encouraging global commerce by e-Trade and develop e-FTA in the foreseeable future.

The new paradigm of dentistry require the detection of caries in their earlier stages. To achieve this, a high technology detection device and systematic and organized caries management system are needed. Caries management by risk assessment (CAMBRA) model is representative caries management system that satisfied new paradigm. Dental caries prevention and treatment according to CAMBRA model is patient-centered, risk-based, evidence-based practice. Therefore, individual caries management such as CAMBRA should be performed through accurate assessment of caries disease indicators and comprehensive assessment of caries risk factors and protective factors. Based on the CAMBRA better effectiveness of comprehensive dental caries management including non-surgical treatment will be accomplished.

Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune cells and play important roles as the first immune cells to recognize and kill cancer. In patients with advanced and terminal cancer, NK cells are often inactivated, suggesting that NK cells may play important roles in cancer treatment. In particular, the proportion of NK cells among immune cells infiltrating tumor tissues is often low, which suggests that NK cells do not survive in tumor microenvironment (TME). In order to overcome these hurdles of NK cells in cancer treatment, it is critical to develop strategies that enhance the proliferation and cytolytic activity of NK cells. We applied Vemurafenib to NK cells and measured the degree of NK cell proliferation and functional activation. We obtained unexpected results of increased NK cell numbers and anti-tumor activity after Vemurafenib treatment. Although further investigation is required to uncover the detailed mechanisms, our results suggest that Vemurafenib is a promising candidate to increase the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy using NK cells.
