  • This study examined the relationship between an achievement goal orientation and self-management in track & field athletes' of physical education high schools. Moreover, we hypothesized that the achievement goal orientation and self-management would be differed by their gender, special field, and career. Participants were 229 athletes. They completed achievement goal orientation and self-management questionnaires independently. Results from each statistical method based on the research questions revealed that there was a statistical difference in the subject goal orientation(p<0.05). Gender had a significant effect on the interpersonal, mental strength, and the body management(p<0.05). The mental strength was only statistically affected by their special field. The results indicated that the achievement goal orientation and the self-management may affect performance of high school track & field athletes. Several limitations, implications and suggestions for the future study were discussed.

  • Purpose - Present study aimed at investigating the factors that may affect consumers' decision confidence and decision comfort inducing choice commitment taken place at the stage of post-decision/pre-outcome. This study explored whether there are positive effects of dominance and instrumentality of chosen product on the decision confidence, and also identified whether there are positive effects of choice easiness and goal achievement-related affect felt at the chosen product on the decision comfort. Research design, data, and methodology - Portable digital camera as experimental product was used. 260 data were collected from college students. Four were removed from the analyses because they did not complete the questionnaire. Eighteen were removed because they indicated not experiencing the camera in the past. 238 data were used at the analyses to verify hypotheses by structural equation model in AMOS 21.0. Results - First, both of the consumers' decision confidence and decision comfort positively affected choice commitment. Second, the dominance as well as the instrumentality had positive impact upon the decision confidence. Third, the choice easiness and goal achievement-related affect felt at the chosen product had positive impact on the decision comfort. In sum, present study identified the mediation roles of the decision confidence in the effects of both dominance and instrumentality of the chosen product on forming choice commitment, and also found the mediation roles of the decision comfort in the effects of choice easiness and goal achievement-related affect felt at the product on forming choice commitment. Conclusions - Focusing on the stage of post-decision/pre-outcome in decision making process, present study contributes to advancing the choice commitment theories by exploring the positive effects of both dominance and instrumentality of chosen product on the decision confidence, and by finding the positive effects of both choice easiness and goal achievement-related affect felt at the chosen product on the decision comfort. Marketers should promote their products' dominance and instrumentality by showing the superior roles of their product attributes in achieving consumption goal, and should help consumers feel comfort by making choice process easier and giving information that could help feel the goal achievement-related affect at their product chosen.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of socio-demographic variables on time management and to investigate the effects of time management on self-efficacy and academic achievement in college students. The data were collected from 382 college students through questionnaire surveys and analyzed using frequency, percentile, and regression analysis with the SPSS program. College students' time management behavior was influenced by the social status of their families and by their participation in time management education. There were differences in variables affecting time management according to its sub-areas (planning, regular habits, and goal-oriented behavior). Planning was influenced by the students' majors and by their participation in time management education. Regular habits were influenced by the students' genders and their families' social status. No variables affected goal-oriented behavior. Time management (especially planning and goal-oriented behavior) and gender had strong effects on self-efficacy, and male students showed more self-efficacious behavior than their female counterparts. Time management (especially planning and regular habits) and gender had strong effects on academic achievement, and female students received higher academic grades than their male counterparts. Based on these results, time management was confirmed as an influential element in self-efficacy and academic achievement. Planning and goal-oriented behavior particularly influenced self-efficacy, and planning and regular habits particularly influenced academic achievement.

For this purpose, Survey was performed to Seoul and Metropolitan area's 25 sports 396 Players., And using SPSS 18 and AMOS program descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis were conducted. Based on purified data through the process, the relationship between autonomy and achievement motivation was verified with correlation analysis and regression analysis. As a result, autonomy was recognized by male player higher than female player, and in goal-orientation of the access tendency of achievement goal orientation, male player showed higher scores. And in mastery-avoidance of avoidance, female player showed higher scores and in performance-avoidance, male player showed higher scores. According to regression analysis, autonomy affects mastery-approach and achievement goal orientation of the performance-approach.

  • Two hundred ten kindergarten teachers participated in this investigation of the relationship between kindergarten teacher's achievement orientation and teacher efficacy. Instruments were the Teacher Efficacy Scale(Lee, 2002) and the Goal Orientation Scale(Lee, 2002). Data analyzed by ANOVA and hierarchical multiple regression analyses revealed that more highly educated and older teachers were more highly oriented toward mastery goals. Teacher high in mastery and in performance orientation exhibited higher efficacy while low mastery oriented teachers were low in efficacy. The influence of performance goal orientation significantly explained the variance in teacher efficacy. The incremental explanation on teacher efficacy by achievement goal orientation after controlling for demographic variables was statistically significant.

All data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 19.0 program. The results of this study are as follows. First, mastery goal, performance-approach goal and performance-avoidance goal of the gifted students were higher than the general students'. Second, all sub-variables of academic burnout except hostility and total score of academic burnout of the gifted students were lower than the general students. On the other hand, all sub-variables of school happiness except relationship with friends and emotional stability and total score school happiness of the gifted students were higher than the general students. Third, this study revealed that the achievement goal and academic burnout explain considerable amount of students' school happiness. In other words, the disfavor and skeptical attitude of general students for the study hinder school happiness. Lastly, this study suggest that some program or consulting need to be administerd to change the affective attitude of students into positively. And also variety of counselling program or some instructions dealing with stress for gifted students since the exhaustion of gifted students affects considerably their school happiness.

  • The Ministry of Environment plans to improve quality of water which is achieved over 85% in rivers and 94% in lakes of the whole country as "Good Water" until 2015. Also, the law of evaluation of water quality and water quality goal were made newly. So, the water quality has evaluated by using new law since 2007. This study evaluated whether "Good Water" and" Water Quality Goal" were achieved or not in 22 middle-sized districts and major 10 lakes of Geum river. The achievement rates of rivers decreased and the achievement rates of lakes mostly were the same for 5 years. In 2007, the achievement rates of "Good Water" were 50% in rivers and 50% in lakes. The achievement rate of "Water Quality Goal" were 59.1% in rivers and 20% in lakes. The water quality in 2007 was evaluated worse than last year in case of rivers. The evaluations of Korea-Comprehensive Water Quality Index(K-CWQI) showed that achievement rates of "Water Quality Goal" were 81.8% in rivers and 0% in lakes. The statistical correlation analysis showed that correlations between BOD and COD were meaningful at the downstream, compared to upstream, generally. In case of lakes, correlations between COD and temperature were meaningful. Also, correlations between COD and Chl-a were meaningful. The Trophic State Index ($TSI_{KO}$) showed that the half of lakes are major over eutrophic status in lakes. These analytical methods such as K-CWQI, $TSI_{KO}$, statistical correlation analysis could be additionally helpful for evaluation of water quality and provide basis data for understanding characteristics of watershed in Geum river.
