A review of the train position detection method for neutral section with energized condition (무절연구간을 위한 열차위치검지방식 검토)

  • The high speed line and conventional line are a single-phase AC feeding system; and power supplies of different phases meet at SS(SubStation)s or SP(Sectioning Post)s. These sections should be negotiated with the main circuit breaker in the traction vehicle switched off, whereby the length of the neutral zone prevents the pantographs shunting adjacent overhead line section. In order for electric railway vehicles to make power running there, there must be a power supply changeover section (approx. for 1km), where a changeover switch changes a power supply to the other power supply of a train running direction sequentially. For a thorough changeover switching control, the precise train position detection is necessarily required. In this paper, to realize the ground-based train position detection method, configuration scheme of train position detection equipment is suggested by using track circuit and axle counter.

대기압 플라즈마 소스를 이용한 태양전지 도핑에 관한 연구

  • 태양전지 도핑공정은 대부분 퍼니스(furnace)도핑으로 제작된다. 퍼니스 도핑 공정은 고가의 장비와 유지 비용이 요구되며 국부적인 부분의 도핑은 제한적이다. 또한 도핑 시 온도와 공정 시간이 태양전지의 전기적 특성을 결정짓는 중요한 변수 이다. 그리하여 최근 많은 연구가 진행되는 대기압 플라즈마를 이용하여 도핑공정에 응용하고자 한다. 본 연구에서 대기압 방전 시 전원은 DC-AC 인버터를 사용하였다. 인버터의 최대 출력 전압은 최대 5kv, 주파수는 수십 KHz 이다. Ar 가스는 MFC(Mass Flow Controller)를 사용하여 조절하였다. 대기압 플라즈마를 이용한 태양전지 도핑 시 소스와 ground 거리에 따른 대기압 플라즈마의 방전을 열화상카메라(thermo-graphic camera, IR)로 온도의 변화 측정 및 광학적 발광분광법(Optical Emission Spectroscopy, OES)을 통해 불순물(질소, 산소)을 측정 하였다. 웨이퍼 도핑 후 생성된 웨이퍼를 측정 및 분석을 하였다.

  • Experimental equipments for long-term outdoor tests of EHV insulators in outdoor were constructed. The testing insulators have been energized with 89 [kV] phase-to-ground AC voltage under identical condition at station, and the investigation was carried out for leakage current and various environments such as temperature, relative humidity and wind velocity. The test results of leakage current wave trends have forms on distorted waves including harmonics. The porcelain and glass insulators have low leakage current in case of daytime because moisture and humidity have relative low values. In comparison with these conditions, high leakage current was shown at dawn and rainy day due to high humidity. However, leakage current of polymer insulators was shown approximately $129[{\mu}m]$ without relation to the weather due to hydrophobicity on their surface.

  • In order to analyze the potential rise of ground surface of grounding grid installed in buildings, the grounding simulator has been designed and fabricated as substantial and economical measures. This paper describes the study of touch and step voltages with grounding grid where earth leakage current is injected. To assess risk voltage of grounding grid, the grounding simulator and CDEGS program were used to obtain measured data and theoretical results of this study. The grounding simulator was composed of an electrolytic tank, AC power supply, a movable potentiometer, and test grounding electrodes. The potential rise was measured by grounding simulator, and the touch and step voltages were computed by CDEGS program. As a consequence, the touch voltage and step voltage above the grounding grid were very low, but were significantly increased near the edge of grounding grid.

  • In this paper, we studied dc leakage current properties analysis of LED lamps of road and landscape lighting when leakage current appeared in dc power line. Generally, converter of LED lighting is divides to insulated type and non-insulated type according to components. When electric leakage happened in AC power line, earth leakage breaker(ELB) senses leakage current and interrupts electric circuit. In dc power source, We need experimental verification about dc electric leakage for electricity safety. In normal wiring conditions and in the water, in case of using insulated type of converter, dc leakage current did not occur. However, in case of using non-insulated type of converter, dc leakage current occurred and passed through into the ground. We found that there is a hazard of electric shock by dc leakage current. We expect that the results of these studies would be helpful for electrical safety of LED lamps for road and landscape lighting.

System Safety Assessment for KC-100 Civil Aircraft (KC-100 민간항공기 체계안전성 평가)

  • KC-100 is a 4 seats, single piston engine, civil aircraft whose type certificate is applied for KAS 23 (FAR 23) for the first time in Korea. Its system safety assessment and analysis have been conducted to meet the minimum safety requirement in KAS 23 and to verify the safety of equipment, system, and installation in accordance with the requirement of ${\S}$23.1309 and the guidelines in FAA AC 23.1309-1D and SAE ARP 4761. This safety assessment begins with the FHA (Functional Hazard Assessment) at aircraft and system level in preliminary design phase, and all of the safety assessment and analysis reports including the preliminary version of SSA (System Safety Assessment) have been prepared during detail design phase. The revised version of these safety reports will be approved by Airworthiness Authority through the ground and flight test phases. In this paper, the safety assessment requirement in ${\S}$23.1309, safety assessment guideline in AC 23.1309-1D, and safety assessment and analysis methods in ARP 4761 will be explained based on the application example for KC-100 development. The experience and knowledge of this system safety assessment for civil aircraft can be applied to commuter aircraft of FAR 23 class or large transport airplane of FAR 25 class.

Observation of Light-Propagation along the Tube of Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (냉음극 형광램프의 광 전파)

  • The light propagation along a long positive column has been observed in a cold cathode fluorescent lamp. The optical signals are observed with the DC and AC voltage power during lamp operation. The light propagating is observed in the operation with the DC-rippled voltage as well as the AC-voltage. The optical signals propagate from the high voltage side to the ground. These signals show two kinds of features according to the before and after Townsend breakdown. At the dark current before Townsend breakdown, the optical intensity is damped and the propagation velocity is $10^4{\sim}10^5m/s$. At the high current of normal glow after Townsend breakdown, the propagation velocity is 1$10^5{\sim}10^6m/s$ without damping.

  • Engine control/performance model for helicopter simulator if one of the most important models which affect flight performance and handling quality. It is typical to develop the model based on the raw data and models from the engine designers/manufacturers. The approaches in this study were to develop the basic model bated on the available resources and to tune and verify it based on the ground/flight test results. The maintenance manuals of TB3-117 which is installed in KA-327 were reviewed and the components to be simulated for the engine control model were categorized and modeled. Piece-wise linear modeling method was used for the engine performance model. The engine performance data in the engine maintenance manuals were incorporated into the engine steady state performance tablet, which were incorporated with the transfer functions for the dynamic performance. Engine control/performance model was compared and tuned with the round/flight test results. It was verified that the fidelity of the model was within the tolerances in FAA AC120-63.

Differential 2.4-GHz CMOS Power Amplifier Using an Asymmetric Differential Inductor to Improve Linearity (비대칭 차동 인덕터를 이용한 2.4-GHz 선형 CMOS 전력 증폭기)

  • In this study, we proposed an asymmetric differential inductor to improve the linearity of differential power amplifiers. Considering the phase error between differential signals of the differential amplifier, the location of the center tap of the differential inductor was modified to minimize the error. As a result, the center tap was positioned asymmetrically inside the differential inductor. With the asymmetric differential inductor, the AM-to-AM and AM-to-PM distortions of the amplifier were suppressed. To confirm the feasibility of the inductor, we designed a 2.4 GHz differential CMOS PA for IEEE 802.11n WLAN applications with a 64-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), 9.6 dB peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), and a bandwidth of 20 MHz. The designed power amplifier was fabricated using the 180-nm RF CMOS process. The measured maximum linear output power was 17 dBm, whereas EVM was 5%.
