  • In this paper, we designed and implemented an ultra wideband (UWB) antenna with 5G mobile communication and WLAN bands rejection characteristics. The proposed antenna consists of a planar radiation patch with two slots, parasitic elements on both sides of the strip line and ground plane on back side. The upper n-type slot contributes for 5G mobile communication band (3.42~3.70 GHz) rejection and the lower n-type slot contributes for wireless local area network (WLAN) band (5.15~5.825 GHz) rejection. Parasitic elements were used in order to satisfy the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) less than or equal to 2.0 for UWB band (3.10~10.60 GHz) except two rejection bands. The Ansoft's high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) was used for antenna design and simulations. The simulated antenna showed dual rejection bands of 3.36~3.71 GHz and 5.13 ~ 5.92 GHz in UWB band, and measured result for the implemented antenna showed dual rejection bands of 3.40~3.72 GHz and 5.08~5.858 GHz. Simulated and measured VSWRs are less than or equal to 2.0 for all UWB band except dual rejection bands.

  • Torsional behavior due to the plane irregularities of the piloti building can cause excessive story drift in the torsionally outermost column, which can lead to shear failure of the column. As a seismic retrofit method that can control the torsional behavior of the piloti building, the expansion of RC wall, steel frame or steel brace may be used, but such methods may hinder the openness of the piloti floor. Therefore, in this study, linear dynamic analysis and nonlinear static analysis for piloti buildings retrofitted by knee brace were performed, and seismic performance evaluation and torsion control effect of knee brace were analyzed. The results showed that the shear force of the column increased when the piloti building retrofitted by knee brace, but it was effective in controlling the torsional deformation. In case of retrofit between knee brace and column by 30°, the shear force of the column increased less than that of 60°, and the lateral displacement of column was decreased in the order of □, ◯ and H in cross-section.

  • The electronic structures, magnetism, and half-metallicity of the full-Heusler $Co_2TiSn$(001) surfaces have been investigated by using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation. We have considered both of the Co atoms terminated(Co-term) and the TiSn atoms terminated(TiSn-term) surfaces. From the calculated density of states, we found that the half-metallicity was destroyed at the surface of the Co-term, while the half-metallicity was retained at the TiSn-term. For the surface of the Co-term, due to the reduced coordination number the occupied minority d-states were shifted to high energy regions and that cross the Fermi level, thus destroy the surface half-metallicity. On the other hand the surface states at the surface of the TiSn-term were located just below the Fermi level, which reduces the minority spin-gap with respect to that of the center layer. The calculated magnetic moment of the surface Co atom for the Co-term was increased by 10 % to 1.16 ${\mu}_B$ with respect to that of the inner-layers, while the magnetic moment of the subsurface Co atom in the TiSn-term has almost same value of the innerlayers(1.03 ${\mu}_B$).

  • It has been well-known that the Fe/GaAs heterostructure has a small lattice mismatch of 1.4% between Fe and GaAs, and the Fe layer is grown epitaxially on the the GaAs substrate. There are rich physics are observed in the GaAs/Fe interface, and the spininjection is actively studied due to its potential applications for spintronics devices. We fabricated Fe wedge layer in the thickness range $0{\sim}3.4$ nm on the GaAs(100) surface with 5-nm thick Au capping layer. The magnetic anisotropy of the Fe/GaAs system was investigated by employing Brillouin light scattering(BLS) measurements in this study. The spin wave excitation of Fe layer was studied as the function of intensity and the in-plane angle of external magnetic field, and thickness of Fe layer. Also these various dependences were analyzed with analytic expression of spin wave surface mode in order to determine the magnetic anisotropies. It has been found that the GaAs/Fe/Au system has additional uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, while the bulk Fe has biaxial anisotropy. The uniaxial anisotropy shows increasing dependency respected to decreasing thickness of Fe layer while biaxial anisotropy is reduced with Fe film thickness. This result allows the analysis that the uniaxial anisotropy is originated from interface between GaAs surface and Fe layer.

  • Image denoising methods based on block matching are founded on the experimental observations that neighboring patches or blocks in images retain similar features with each other, and have been proved to show superior performance in denoising different kinds of noise. The methods, however, take into account only neighboring blocks in searching for similar blocks, and ignore the characteristic features of the reference block itself. Consequently, denoising performance is negatively affected when outliers of the Gaussian distribution are included in the reference block which is to be denoised. In this paper, we propose an expanded block matching method in which noisy images are first decomposed into a number of bit-planes, then the range of true signals are estimated based on the distribution of pixels on the bit-planes, and finally outliers are replaced by the neighboring pixels belonging to the estimated range. In this way, the advantages of the conventional Gaussian filter can be added to the blocking matching method. We tested the proposed method through extensive experiments with well known test-bed images, and observed that performance gain can be achieved by the proposed method.

  • Since three has never been any incidence of having investigated kilns for firing soft stoneware in the proto-three kingdoms period so far, how they structured by reviewing historic literature and material was preconsidered in this study. It is presumed that after both Gimhae Daeseongdong-type and Sacheon Bonggyeri-type kilns for firing earthenware coexist early, through an internal alteration process which is mutually complex and momentous, the floor of plastic room has been flattened or slanted and expanded little by little into the closed-kiln structure. It seems that the structure of kilns for firing soft stoneware was a horizontal combustion type(水平燃燒式) and its plane shape was close to being rectangular in shape unlike that of kilns for firing stoneware found in Honam and Hoseo province in the period of (proto-) three kingdoms. On the other hand, it is likely that the horizontal combustion type structure of kilns for firing stoneware excavated in Samyong-ri, Jincheon preceded the vertical combustion type(垂直燃燒式)that of kilns for firing stonewere found in Sansu-ri. In addition, the term, monumeut for firing earthenware must be changed to kiln for firing earthenware and the terms of Pyeungyo(平窯) and Dyengyo(登窯) can be applied to kilns for firing tiles. Thus, it does not seem likely that the absolute equality that Wajil earthenware(soft stoneware) pottery is Pyeungyo and stoneware pottery is Dyeungyo is applied in all cases.

  • To investigate the observational environment, sky line and skyview factor (SVF) are calculated using a digital elevation model (DEM; 10 m spatial resolution) and 3 dimensional (3D) sky image at radiation site, Gangneung-Wonju National University (GWNU). Solar radiation is calculated using GWNU solar radiation model with and without the sky line and the SVF retrieved from the 3D sky image and DEM. When compared with the maximum sky line elevation from Skyview, the result from 3D camera is higher by $3^{\circ}$ and that from DEM is lower by $7^{\circ}$. The SVF calculated from 3D camera, DEM and Skyview is 0.991, 0.998, and 0.993, respectively. When the solar path is analyzed using astronomical solar map with time, the sky line by 3D camera shield the direct solar radiation up to $14^{\circ}$ with solar altitude at winter solstice. The solar radiation is calculated with minutely, and monthly and annual accumulated using the GWNU model. During the summer and winter solstice, the GWNU radiation site is shielded from direct solar radiation by the west mountain 40 and 60 minutes before sunset, respectively. The monthly difference between plane and real surface is up to $29.18M\;m^{-2}$ with 3D camera in November, while that with DEM is $4.87M\;m^{-2}$ in January. The difference in the annual accumulated solar radiation is $208.50M\;m^{-2}$ (2.65%) and $47.96M\;m^{-2}$ (0.63%) with direct solar radiation and $30.93M\;m^{-2}$ (0.58%) and $3.84M\;m^{-2}$ (0.07%) with global solar radiation, respectively.

  • This paper compare the adaptive equalization performance according to the values of adaptive step variation speed for adapting in VS-CCA (Variable Stepsize-Compact Constellation Algorithm) based on nonlinear function function of error signal. The VS-CCA algorithm compacts the 16-QAM nonconstant modulus signal into the 4 groups of 4-QAM constant modulus signal constellation in quadature plane, then the error signal is generated using the constant modulus of transmitted signal statistics. The adaptive equalizer coefficient were updated in order to achieve the minimum cost function by varying step based on the nonlinear function of error signal. In this time, the instantaneous adaptive step is determined according to the value of step variation speed of nonlinear function and the different equalization performance were obtained according to the step variation speed value. The equalizer internal index and external index which represents the robustness of external noise were used for the performance comparison index. As a result of computer simulation, it was confirmed that the value of variation speed less than 1.0 give more superior in every performance index compared to the greater than 1.0 in steady state.

  • This study was investigated in carbon diffusion behavior of laser-carburized TiZrN coating layer and the changes of mechanical properties. The carbon paste was deposited on TiZrN coatings, and the laser was irradiated to carburize into the coatings. The XRD peak corresponding to the (111) plane shifted to a lower angle after the carburization, showing the lattice expansion by doped carbon. The decreased grain size implied the compression by the grain boundary diffusion of carbon. The XPS spectra for the bonding states of carbon was analyzed that carbon was substitute to nitrogen atoms in TiZrN, as carbide, through the thermal energy of laser. In addition, the combination of sp2 and sp3 hybridized bonds represented the formation of an amorphous carbon. The cross-sectional TEM image and the inverse FFT of the TiZrN coating after carburizing were observed as the wavy shape, confirming the amorphous phase located in grain boundaries. After the carburization, the hardness increased from 34.57 GPa to 38.24 GPa, and the friction coefficient decreased by 83 %. In particular, the ratio of hardness and elastic modulus (H/E) which is used as an index of the elastic recovery, increased from 0.11 to 0.15 and the wear rate improved by 65 %.

  • To understand an underlying geological structure via seismic imaging, the velocity information of the subsurface medium is crucial. Although the full-waveform inversion (FWI) method is considered useful for estimating subsurface velocity models, 3D FWI needs a lot-of computing power and time. Herein, we compare the calculation efficiency and accuracy of frequency-domain 2D and 3D acoustic FWIs. Thereafter, we demonstrate that the artifacts from 2D approximation can be partially suppressed via frequency-domain 2D FWI by employing diffraction angle filtering (DAF). By applying DAF, which employs only big reflection angle components, the impact of noise and out-of-plane reflections can be reduced. Additionally, it is anticipated that the DAF can create long-wavelength velocity structures for 3D FWI and migration.
