사회조사에서 조사방법에 따른 가중 칸 설정에 관한 연구: 전화조사, 인터넷 조사, 모바일 조사 (A Study on Weighting Cells by Survey Methods for Social Surveys: Telephone, Internet and Mobile Surveys)

  • The aim of this study lies in answering the question "How to form weighting cells to enhance sample representativeness in telephone, Internet and mobile surveys\ulcorner". For this, we explored 2% raw data of Year 2000 Population and Housing Census of Korea looking for meaningful patterns for ownership of telephones, the usage of Internet and/or mobile phones. We found that telephone coverage rates vary significantly by household size; 84.6% for one member households, contrasting 98.5% for two-or-more member households. Thus, telephone survey samples need to be weighted differently in sub-groups by household size for proportional representation of target population. Searching socio-demographic factors influencing the use of Internet by C5.0 tree models, we found that education levels and the occupation (or housing type, the automobile ownership) are two most important factors in addition to gender and age. Thus, surveyor might form weighting cells by such factors at the stage of post-stratification or set quotas, a priori, proportional to size of the cells by such factors. For mobile surveys, we approached similarly and found that education levels and the occupation (or the automobile ownership, marriage status) are two additional factors that may be used in forming weighing cells or in setting quotas for cells.

수중음향신호 입사방위 추정을 위한 RLSLTDE 알고리즘 (RLSLTDE Algorithm for Bearing Estimation of the Underwater Acoustic Signal)

  • 수중음향 측정 및 수동형 탐지에서는 표적 방사음향의 방위 탐지가 매우 중요하다. 표적의 방사음향이 다수 개의 청음 센서에 수신되면서 각 센서마다 시간적으로 지연되어 도달한다. 이와 같은 시간지연을 추출함으로서 표적 방위 추출이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 시간지연 추정을 위해 RSSL 적응필터를 이용한 새로운 RLSLTDE 알고리즘을 제안한다. RLSLTDE는 표적 방사음향에 대한 정보가 제한적이거나 추정하려는 시간지연 정보가 시변인 경우에 효율적이다. 신호대 잡음비에 따른 시뮬레이션에 결과, 기존 LMS 적응필터 알고리즘 보다 수렴특성 및 시간지연추정 속도면에서 우수하여 제안 알고리즘이 수중음향 입사방위 추정에 유용함을 확인하였다.

  • 기존 적응 표적 탐지 기법의 경우 클러터 특성이 변하는 비 균일 클러터 상황에서는 만족할 만한 탐지성능을 갖지 못한다. 이는 레이다 좌표 공간상으로 변하는 클러터 파라미터를 신호처리 과정에 효과적으로 적용시키지 못함으로 인해 발생한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 클러터 환경에 따른 적용 알고리즘 선택 및 선택된 알고리즘의 파라미터 추출을 가능하게 하는 클러터 분류기 사용이 요구된다 본 논문은 이러한 목적으로 구현된 클러터 환경 분류기에 대하여 기술한다. Visual C++ 환경에서 구현된 본 환경 분류 소프트웨어에서는 적응신호처리에 필요한 파라미터 값 추출 및 알고리즘 선택이 가능하며, 또한 단계별 알고리즘의 수행 결과도 확인할 수 있다.

OFDM 신호의 PAPR 감소를 위한 저복잡도의 SLM-PRSC 결합 기법 (A Low Complexity SLM-PRSC Hybrid Scheme for OFDM PAPR Reduction)

  • In this paper, to improve OFDM PAPR reduction performance of the conventional SLM method, we propose an effective SLM-PRSC hybrid scheme based on the repeated utilization of identical PRSC sequences in time domain. In the proposed scheme, after performing the SLM for the frequency domain OFDM symbol excluding the pre-determined PRSC positions, the final SLM-PRSC hybrid sequence with the lowest PAPR, which is generated by adding the time domain PRSC sequence to the results of the SLM is selected as the transmitted OFDM symbol. In particular, since the identical PRSC sequences generated a priori are repeatedly used for every OFDM symbol, excessive IFFT calculations are avoided. Moreover, the selected PRSC symbols in the frequency domain may be utilized as an overhead information for the SLM. Simulation results reveal that the proposed SLM-PRSC hybrid scheme can remarkably improve the PAPR reduction performance of the conventional SLM, while avoiding excessive increase of IFFT and PAPR calculations and the overhead for the SLM.

MPEG-2 동영상 표준방식에 대한 채널 오차의 검출 및 은폐 기법 (Channel Error Detwction and Concealment Technqiues for the MPEG-2 Video Standard)

  • In this paper, channel error characteristics are investigated to alleviate the channel error propagation problem of the digital TV transmission systems. First, error propagation problems, which are mainly caused by the inter-frame dependancy and variable length coding of the MPEG-2 baseline encoder, are intensively analyzed. Next, existing channel resilient schemes are systematically classified into two kinds of schemes; one for the encoder and the other for the decoder. By comparing the performance and implementation cost, the encoder side schemes, such as error localization, layered coding, error resilience bit stream generation techniques, are described in this paper. Also, in an effort to consider the parcticality of the real transmission situation, an efficient error detection scheme for a decoder system is proposed by employing a priori information of the bit stream syntas, checking the encoding conditions at the encoder stage, and exploiting the statistics of the image itself. Finally, subsequent error concealment technique based on the DCT coefficient recovery algorithm is adopted to evaluate the performance of the proposed error resilience technique. The computer simulation results show that the quality of the received image is significantly improved when the bit error rate is as high as 10$^{-5}$ .

IT컨설팅 서비스 품질 측정에 대한 타당성 검증에 관한 연구 (The Validity of IT Consulting SERVQUAL Measurement Tool)

  • This paper examines the validity of the newly developed IT consulting SERVQUAL measurement tool. In an attempt to measure Ire IS customers' expectations and perceived quality of the services they received, the researchers developed a diagnostic tool of SERVQUAL based on the solid theoretical background, which can specifically be applied to the IT consulting service sector. This on-going research so far, has been applied to six (6) different organizations that have received IT consulting services over the past years. From the preliminary data collected, the correlation and the factor analyses were conducted to understand the underlying concept and refinement of the measurement tool. Although the correlation analysis showed a little tendency of collinearity among some of the variables, all showed sound relationship of the proposed hypotheses. The exploratory factor analytic approach was chosen because it does not set any priori constraints on the estimation of components or the number of components to be extracted. The number of different factor solutions was extracted and tested to see which solution represents better grouping of the variables. The Crombach's Alpha was computed on different combinations of the factor solutions to ensure validity. The results show 8-dimensional IT consulting SERVQUAL measures which they are, assurance, knowledge & skill, customer relationship, support, empathy, process management, expertise, and education, seem more appropriate than the originally proposed 6 dimensions. The study approach was non-experimental cross-sectional research design. The longitudinal design of follow-up studies to periodically revise and refine current measure is strongly recommended for fine tuning of the tool.

Improving Covariance Based Adaptive Estimation for GPS/INS Integration

  • It is well known that the uncertainty of the covariance parameters of the process noise (Q) and the observation errors (R) has a significant impact on Kalman filtering performance. Q and R influence the weight that the filter applies between the existing process information and the latest measurements. Errors in any of them may result in the filter being suboptimal or even cause it to diverge. The conventional way of determining Q and R requires good a priori knowledge of the process noises and measurement errors, which normally comes from intensive empirical analysis. Many adaptive methods have been developed to overcome the conventional Kalman filter's limitations. Starting from covariance matching principles, an innovative adaptive process noise scaling algorithm has been proposed in this paper. Without artificial or empirical parameters to be set, the proposed adaptive mechanism drives the filter autonomously to the optimal mode. The proposed algorithm has been tested using road test data, showing significant improvements to filtering performance.

  • This paper proposes an indirect adaptive fuzzy controller for general SISO nonlinear systems. In indirect adaptive fuzzy control, based on the proved approximation capability of fuzzy systems, they are used to capture the unknown nonlinearities of the plant. Until now, most of the papers in the field of controller design for nonlinear system considers the affine system using fuzzy systems which have fixed grid-rule structure. We proposes a dynamic fuzzy rule insertion scheme where fuzzy rule-base grows as time goes on. With this method, the dynamic order of the controller reduces dramatically and an appropriate number of fuzzy rules are found on-line. No a priori information on bounding constants of uncertainties including reconstruction errors and optimal fuzzy parameters is needed. The control law and the update laws for fuzzy rule structure and estimates of fuzzy parameters and bounding constants are determined so that the Lyapunov stability of the whole closed-loop system is guaranteed.

The Effect of Surface Meteorological Measurements on High-precision GPS Positing Determination

  • In this study, the Global Positioning System (GPS) data collected by the GPS receivers that were established as continuously operating reference stations by Central Weather Bureau and Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan are utilized to investigate the impact of atmospheric water vapor on GPS positioning determination. The surface meteorological measurements that were concurrently acquired by instruments co-located with the GPS receivers include temperature, pressure and humidity data. To obtain the influence of the baseline length on the proposed impact study, four baselines are considered according to the locations of the permanent GPS sites. The length of the shorter baseline is about 66km, while the longer is about 118 km. The results from the studies associated with different baseline lengths and ellipsoid height were compared for the cases with and without a priori knowledge of surface meteorological measurements. The finding based on 66 days measurements is that the surface meteorological measurements have a significant impact on the positioning determination for the longer baseline case. The associated daily maximum differences are 1.1 cm and 1.4 cm for the baseline and ellipsoid height respectively. The corresponding biases are -8.1 mm in length and -7.3 mm in el lipsoid height.

Electrokinetic flow and electroviscous effect in a charged slit-like microfluidic channel with nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann field

  • In cases of the microfluidic channel, the electrokinetic influence on the transport behavior can be found. The externally applied body force originated from the electrostatic interaction between the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann field and the flow-induced electrical field is applied in the equation of motion. The electrostatic potential profile is computed a priori by applying the finite difference scheme, and an analytical solution to the Navier-Stokes equation of motion for slit-like microchannel is obtained via the Green's function. An explicit analytical expression for the induced electrokinetic potential is derived as functions of relevant physicochemical parameters. The effects of the electric double layer, the zeta potential of the solid surface, and the charge condition of the channel wall on the velocity profile as well as the electroviscous behavior are examined. With increases in either electric double layer or zeta potential, the average fluid velocity in the channel of same charge is entirely reduced, whereas the electroviscous effect becomes stronger. We observed an opposite behavior in the channel of opposite charge, where the attractive electrostatic interactions are presented.
