학제에 따른 치위생(학)과 학생의 진로정체감과 전문직업성의 비교 (Comparison of Career Identity and Professionalism among Dental Hygiene Students according to Educational System)

  • 본 연구는 3년제, 4년제 치위생과 재학생의 학제에 따른 진로정체감과 전문직업성을 비교하여 향후 치과위생사의 교육과정 개발과 교육방향 설정의 기초자료를 활용하고자 충청지역에 재학 중인 치위생과 학생 579명을 대상으로 설문조사하였으며, SPSS WIN 12.0을 이용하여 분석한 결과 다음과 결론을 얻었다. 1. 학제별 학년에 따른 진로정체감은 3년제에서는 1학년(2.73)이, 4년제에서는 3학년(2.67)이 가장 높았으며, 전문직업성은 3년제에서는 1학년(3.34), 4년제에서는 4학년(3.29)이 가장 높았다. 2. 전공선택동기에 따른 진로정체감은 3년제(2.78), 4년제(2.75)에서 '높은 급여'가 가장 높았으며(p<.01), 전문직업성은 3년제에서는 '적성', '평생직업'(3.44)이, 4년제에서는 '평생직업'(3.29)이 가장 높았다(p<.01). 3. 학제에 따른 진로정체감과 전문직업성은 유의한 상관관계가 나타났다. 본 결과로 3년제와 4년제에서 전문직업성이 진로정체감보다 점수가 높았고, 학제에 따른 입학만족도, 전공 선택의 비교에서는 3년제가 4년제보다 진로정체감이나 전문직업성이 평균점수가 높음을 알 수 있었다. 그러나, 3년제에서는 학년이 올라갈수록 두 항목의 점수가 낮았고, 4년제에서는 학년이 올라갈수록 두 항목의 점수가 높음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 각 학제의 특성에 맞는 차별화된 자아증진 프로그램 및 진로에 대한 교육프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것이다.

Need and Significance of STS Education at the University Level

  • The study purported to develop STS education course material at the university level in order to enhance science literacy and understanding of the relationships among science, technology and society. A developed STS course was provided to 265 freshmen and sophomore students, majoring in the Humanities and the Social Sciences, the Natural Sciences and Engineering, and Fine Arts. Students participated in the survey examining changes in students' attitudes toward and perspectives on STS before and after the implementation. Ten questionnaires were selected from VOSTS for the survey. One additional questionnaire asked the students to elaborate their opinions on the need for a STS education course. The responses to the survey were analyzed according to types of questions and students' majors. As result, the developed STS course significantly increased students' science literacy. Among the participants, 97.7% responded that there is a need for STS education and provided reasons for such need. These results imply that there is a definite need for a STS class at the university level. According to the analyses of responses, there were different responses depending on the students' major. These differences imply that the major, academic background, level of interest in science, and knowledge of science of the students affect their perceptions on identifying the need for a STS education course.

초기 벨마비에서 나타나는 탈신경의 시간경과에 따른 변화: 전기생리학적 검사를 통한 확인 (Time course of the denervation in early stage of Bell's palsy.: Identification by electrophysiologic study)

  • Background: Electrophysiologic study accurately predicts the degree of degenerated motor axons but cannot give precise information on the type of injury that occurred in Bell's palsy. Because of these limitation for prognostic prediction in Bell's palsy, we evaluated divergence of electrophysiological time course for the purpose of presuming the type of injury in Bell's palsy. Methods: We did bilateral facial nerve conduction studies in 103 Bell's palsy patients, who visited to Han-Gang sacred heart hospital from 1998 to 2001. We compared the CMAP amplitude of disease site with that of normal site and suggested that decremental CMAP amplitude ratio (percentage) as a degree of denervation of affected facial nerve. Then we demonstrated the time course of denervation percentage. After defining normal range of CMAP amplitude difference from normal control group, we also evaluated if distinct time course of early minimal denervation is present. Results: Our results show that time course of the denervation in early stage of Bell's palsy reflect various injury type such as axonotmesis, neurotmesis or other unidentified type. We cannot identify the distinct time course of early minimal denervation. Conclusions: The time course as well as the maximal value of denervation are the best prognostic guidelines in Bell' s palsy. So repeated serial electrophysiologic test are inevitable to assess prognosis. As an another topic, early minimal denervation for prognostic prediction deserve to be evaluated as a future work up for prognostic prediction.

The impacts of teacher education on students' academic achievement and satisfaction in mathematics lessons

  • Teacher quality is a key factor that determines quality of education. Being aware of this, the Korean government and teachers have been striving to improve teachers' professionalism. Research about the impacts of efforts to enhance teacher professionalism on students' academic achievement and course satisfaction, however, is extremely limited. This study sought to advance our understanding of the relationship between these factors by analyzing what teacher characteristics impact students' achievement and satisfaction. To this end, the study drew on the middle and high school data from 3rd to 6th year survey of the Seoul Educational Longitudinal Study. Structural equational modeling were used as the main approach. Latent profile analysis, a kind of mixture modeling analysis, were used as needed. This study found that teachers' participation in instruction enhancement activity and professional development impact students' attitude toward mathematics lessons and their perception on class atmosphere, and ultimately impact their academic achievement as well as their overall satisfaction in the course. In addition, teachers' use of EBS textbooks and videos impact 3rd grade high schoolers' academic achievement. These findings suggest that effort to improve teacher professionalism positively impact students' academic achievement and course satisfaction, although there is a difference according to the year grade. This study provides implications for education policy makers and teacher educators.

중년여성의 약물사용 실태 조사 (A Study on Drug Use of Middle Aged Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the drug use of middle aged women. The subject consisted of 330 middle aged women who ranged in age from 40 to 60 years. They were selected in Seoul. Kyung-Ki province, Korea. Data were collected by using guestionnaires, from April, 10th to 30th 2001 and analyzed by the SPSS PC+ program using qui-square The results are summarized as follows : 1. The proportion of drinking and smoking experience was 42.4%, 3.7%. The motivation of drug use was advised family and relatives (46.1%), doctor's order(39.4%), magazine and advertisement(14.5%). Most of middle aged women get the information on knowledge of drug from hospital (47.3%), magazines and advertisement(30.3%), advised family and relatives(22.4%). And 57.9% of the middle aged women didn't know side effect of the using drug and 13.9% of the middle aged women have had experienced with side effect. And the level of attitude on drug abuse in middle aged women was 43%. Most of the subjects(93.9%) didn't use alternative drugs, and they used more than 3 kinds of drugs(47%). 2. They used digestives(44.2%), applying ointments (41.8%), drinks (39.4%), analgesics (39.1%), laxatives(8.8%), anti hypertension drugs (33%), and anti-anemic drugs(8.8%) in their orders.

실습과정 구성요소의 의미작용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Meaning Operation of the Factors Constitute the Course of Practice)

  • 실습은 이를 계획하고 실행하는 교육자와 실습의 대상인 학생간에 이루어지는 커뮤니케이션 과정이다. 실습과정에서의 커뮤니케이션 내용은 학생들에게 달성시키고자 하는 전공지식과 기술로서 교육자와 학생의 관계에서 전달과 수간의 절차가 관여한다. 이와 같이 실습과정의 커뮤니케이션이 교육자와 학생 그리고 실습의 내용을 통해서 이루어진다는 점에서 이들은 실습과정을 구성하는 의미의 대상이며 상호작용의 관계성을 형성하고 있다. 따라서 효과적인 실습과정을 계획하기 위해서는 실습과정을 구성하는 이들 의미대상의 관계에서 이루어지는 의미작용의 현상을 이해해야 하는 것이다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제인식을 가지고 실습의 과정에서 이들 의미대상이 형성하는 의미작용에 대한 현상적 분석에 접근하고자 하였다. 이러한 분석을 통해서 연구자는 실습과정에서 이들 의미대상이 가지고 있는 속성을 파악하고, 이들의 관계에서 발생하는 의미작용의 요인들을 해석함으로써 실습과정을 계획하는데 있어서 고려해야할 인식의 범주를 제시하였다.

치위생과 학생의 강의평가 문항에 대한 인식 (Students' Awareness of Questions for Course Evaluation in Department of Dental Hygiene)

  • 본 연구는 부산 경남 울산시 6개 대학(대학교)의 치위생과 학생 968명을 대상으로 강의평가 문항의 인식을 조사하였다. 강의평가지에 대한 인식의 신뢰도 Cronbach' ${\alpha}$는 .862로 높게 나타났고 자료의 분석은 SPSS IBM. SPSS. Statistics. v. 19.0 프로그램을 이용하였으며 유의수준은 0.05로 고려하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 강의평가지의 문항에 대한 인식점수는 평균 2.99점으로 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 전체학년에서 강의평가 문항의 중요 요인으로는 수업내용 및 진행방법이 59.3%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 강의평가의 중요요인과 강의평가지의 신뢰성의 관련성은 평균 3.06점으로 타당성 2.97점에 비해 높게 나타났다. 넷째, 강의평가 문항의 신뢰성과 타당성에 대한 상관관계는 0.608로 강한 양의 상관관계를 나타났다.

강의평가 시스템의 신뢰도 향상 방안 연구 (A Study on the Reliability Improvement for the Course Evaluation System)

  • This paper deals with the ways that can improve the reliability of the course evaluation system based on reformation of the system and design of user interface for the practical applications. In the reformation of the system aspect, there are the improvements of the course evaluation questionnaires and the feedback of course evaluation to the lecturers. In the design aspect, a computer screen of the graphic user interface is redesigned to reflect the reformation of the system aspect issues. The results show the effectiveness in the reliability improvement.

블렌디드 러닝을 활용한 팀 기반 학습 실습 수업에서 약학대학 학생의 학습만족도와 플랫폼 선호도: 예비 연구 (Effects of Blended Learning on Pharmacy Student Learning Satisfaction and Learning Platform Preferences in a Team-based Learning Pharmacy Experiential Course: A Pilot Study)

  • Background: With the emergent transition of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for online/offline blended learning that can effectively be utilized in a team-based learning (TBL) course has emerged. Methods: We used the online metaverse platforms, Gather and Zoom, along with face-to-face teaching methods in a team-based Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) course and examined students' learning satisfaction and achievement, as well as their preferences to the learning platforms. A survey questionnaire was distributed to the students after the IPPE course completion. All data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS. Results: Students had high levels of course satisfaction (4.61±0.57 out of 5) and achievement of course learning objectives (4.49±0.70 out of 5), and these were positively correlated with self-directed learning ability. While students believed that the face-to-face platform was the most effective method for many of the class activities, they responded that Gather was the most effective platform for team presentations. The majority of students (64.3%) indicated that blended learning was the most preferred method for a TBL course. Conclusion: Students in a blended TBL IPPE course had high satisfaction and achievements with the use of various online/offline platforms, and indicated that blended learning was the most preferred learning method. In the post-COVID-19 era, it is important to utilize the blended learning approach in a TBL setting that effectively applies online/offline platforms according to the learning contents and activities to maximize students' learning satisfaction and achievement.

A Study on Yaw-checking and Course-keeping Ability of Directionally Unstable Ships

  • Yaw-checking and course-keeping ability in IMO's ship manoeuvrability standards are reviewed from the viewpoint of safe navigation. Three kinds of virtual series-ships, which have different course instability, are taken as test models. The numerical simulation on Z-test is carried out in order to examine the correlation between known manoeuvrability in spiral characteristics and various kinds of overshoot angle. Then simulator experiments are executed with series-ships in a curved, narrow waterway by six operators(five active pilots and one ex-captain) in order to examine the correlation between known manoeuvrability and degree of manoeuvring difficulty. IMC criteria for yaw-checking and course-keeping ability are discussed and revised criteria are proposed.
