In real sea environments, excessive dynamic axial tension variations can be exerted on the top-tensioned risers (TTRs) and lead to structural integrity issues. The traditional riser-tension-variation analysis, however, by using parametric formulation is only conditionally valid under certain strict limits and potentially underestimates the total magnitudes of tension variations. This phenomenon is especially important for the long stroke tensioner in dry-tree semisubmersible with larger global heave motion and longer stroke. In this paper, the hydro-pneumatic tensioner (HPT) is modeled in detailed component-level which includes a set of hydraulic and pneumatic components. The viscous fluid frictional effect in the HPT is considered. The main objectives are (i) to develop a detailed tension variation model of the HPT; (ii) to identify the deviations between the conventional parametric formulation and component-level formulation; (iii) to numerically analyze the tension variation of long stroke tensioner in a dry-tree semisubmersible (DTS). The results demonstrate the necessity of component-level formulation for long stroke tensioner in the development of DTS.

Since it is almost impossible to train the dispatchers with real power system, the dispatcher training simulator(DTS) is used for the training. Among various components of the DTS, the power system model(PSM) emulates the dynamic behavior of the power system to calculate the frequency and voltage. The frequency is calculated from various parameters such as mechanical power of power plants, load, inertia, and the damping of the power system. In the PSM, the power plants are modeled as differential equations, so the mechanical power of the power plants are calculated by the numerical methods. Conventionally, the fixed step-size algorithm has been used in the PSM, however it has some drawbacks. This paper develops the prototype PSM using the Matlab, and analyzes the problems of the fixed step-size algorithm by comparing the results with those of PSCAD simulation. In order to overcome the limitations, this paper proposes a modified frequency calculation method using the adaptive step-size algorithm. From the simulation using the proposed method, it is verified that the accuracy of frequency calculation increases substantially while the simulation time is not greatly increased.
A shift of first fowering date (FFD) of spring blossoms (cherry, peach and pear) over the northest Asia under global warming is investiaged using dynamically downscaled daily temperature data with 12.5 km resolution. For the study, we obatained gridded daily data with Historical (1981~2010), and Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) (2021~2100) 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios which were produced by WRFv3.4 in conjunction with HadGEM2-AO. A change on FFDs in 21st century is estimated by applying daily outputs of WRFv3.4 to DTS phonological model. Prior to projection on future climate, the performances of both WRFv3.4 and DTS models are evaluated using spatial distribution of climatology and SCR diagram (Normalized standard deviation-Pattern correlation coefficient-Root mean square difference). According to the result, WRFv3.4 and DTS models well simulated a feature of the terrain following characteristics and a general pattern of observation with a marigin of $1.4^{\circ}C$ and 5~6 days. The analysis reveals a projected advance in FFDs of cherry, peach and pear over the northeast Asia by 2100 of 15.4 days (9.4 days). 16.9 days (10.4 days) and 15.2 days (9.5 days), respectively, compared to the Historical simulation due to a increasing early spring (Februrary to April) temperature of about $4.9^{\circ}C$ ($2.9^{\circ}C$) under the RCP 8.5 (RCP 4.5) scenarios. This indicates that the current flowering of the cherry, peach and pear over analysis area in middle or end of April is expected to start blooming in early or middle of April, at the end of this century. The present study shows the dynamically downscaled daily data with high-resolution is helpeful in offering various useful information to end-users as well as in understanding regional climate change.

In this study, two different technologies which can measure temperature simultaneously at many points are introduced. One is to use a thermal sensor cable that is comprised of addressable thermal sensors connected in parallel within a single cable. The other is to use an optic fiber with Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system. The difference between two technologies can be summarized as follows. A thermal sensor cable has a concept of 'point sensing' that can measure temperature at accurate position of a thermal sensor. So the accuracy and resolution of temperature measurement are up to the ability of the thermal sensor. Whereas optic fiber sensor has a concept of 'distributed sensing' because temperature is measured by ratio of Stokes and anti-Stokes component intensities of Raman backscatter that is generated when laser pulse travels along an optic fiber. It's resolution is determined by measuring distance, measuring time and spatial resolution. The purpose of this study is that application targets of two temperature measurement techniques are checked in technical and economical phases by examining the strength and weakness of them. Considering the functions and characteristics of two techniques, the thermal sensor cable will be suitable to apply to the assessment of groundwater flow, geothermal distribution and grouting efficiency within 300m distance. It is expected that the optic fiber sensor can be widely utilized at various fields (for example: pipe line inspection, tunnel fire detection, power line monitoring etc.) which need an information of temperature distribution over relatively long distance.

Linux Foundation has announced a real-time kernel, called Zephyr, for IoT applications recently. Zephyr kernel provides synchronous and asynchronous IPC for data communication between threads. Synchronous IPC is useful for programming multi-threads that need to be executed synchronously, since the sender thread is blocked until the data is delivered to the receiver thread and the completion of data transfer can be known to two threads. In general, 'IPC execution time' is defined as the time duration between the sender thread sends data and the receiver thread receives the data sent. Especially, it is important that 'IPC execution time' in the synchronous IPC should be fixed in real-time kernel like Zephyr. However, we have found that the execution time of the synchronous IPC in Zephyr kernel increases in proportion to the number of threads executing in the kernel. In this paper, we propose a method to implement a fixed time synchronous IPC in Zephyr kernel using Direct Thread Switching(DTS) technique. Using the technique, the receiver thread executes directly after the sender thread sends a data during the remaining time slice of the sender thread and we can archive a fixed IPC execution time even when the number of threads executing in the kernel increases. In this paper, we implemented synchronous IPC using DTS in the Zephyr kernel and found the IPC execution time of the IPC is always 389 cycle that is relatively small and fixed.

To evaluate the posterior and anterior restoration of polymeric dental restorative composite (PDRC), PDRC was prepared using a silica filler treated by heat at various temperatures. Compressive strength (CS) and diametral tensile strength (DTS) values were investigated to study the effect of a heat-treated silica on the mechanical properties of PDRC using the recommended dental specifications. Both the particle size and specific volume of silica were decreased upon increasing the heat treatment temperature. CS and DTS values of PDRC containing a heat-treated silica showed 1.2 and 1.3 times, respectively, higher than that of the PDRC containing a neat silica. Also, it was found that the lower heat treatment temperature, the better mechanical properties of PDRC were observed because there was less agglomeration between silica particles. Specially, PDRC using a silica treated at $600^{\circ}C$ showed superior mechanical strength.
Fingerprint classification is useful in an automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS) to reduce the matching time by categorizing fingerprints. Based on Henry system that classifies fingerprints into S classes, various techniques such as neural networks and support vector machines (SVMs) have been widely used to classify fingerprints. Especially, SVMs of high classification performance have been actively investigated. Since the SVM is binary classifier, we propose a novel classifier-combination model, multiple decision templates (MuDTs), to classily fingerprints. The method extracts several clusters of different characteristics from samples of a class and constructs a suitable combination model to overcome the restriction of the single model, which may be subject to the ambiguous images. With the experimental results of the proposed on the FingerCodes extracted from NIST Database4 for the five-class and four-class problems, we have achieved a classification accuracy of $90.4\%\;and\;94.9\%\;with\;1.8\%$ rejection, respectively.

Although traditionally perceived as being a visualization and asset management resource, the relatively rapid rate of improvement of computing power, coupled with the proliferation of cloud and edge computing and the IoT has seen the expanded functionality of modern Digital Twins (DTs). These technologies, when applied to buildings, are now providing users with the ability to analyse and predict their energy consumption, implement building controls and identify faults quickly and efficiently, while preserving acceptable comfort and well-being levels. Furthermore, when these building DTs are linked together to form a community DT, entirely new and novel energy management techniques, such as demand side management, demand response, flexibility and local energy markets can be unlocked and analysed in detail, creating circularity in the economy and making ordinary building occupants active participants in the energy market. Through the EU Horizon 2020 funded TwinERGY project, three different levels of DT (consumer - building - community) are being created to support the creation of local energy markets while optimising building performance for real-time occupant preferences and requirements for their building and community. The aim of this research work is to demonstrate the development of this new, interrelated, multi-level DT that can be used as a decision-making tool, helping to determine optimal scenarios simultaneously at consumer, building and community level, while enhancing and successfully supporting the community's management plan implementation.
