Two objectives can be pursued simultaneously with the ${\delta}$ control of a single-phase electric spring (ES). These objectives are the stabilization of the voltage across the critical load (CL) of a power system, and the achievement of a specific functionality similar to the pure compensation of reactive power or the correction of the power factor. However, existing control systems implementing the ${\delta}$ control do not cope with non-ideal operating conditions, such as line voltage distortions, and exhibit a somewhat sluggish regulation of the CL voltage. In an effort to improve both the steady-state and transient performances of an ES power system, this paper proposes implementing the ${\delta}$ control by means of a control system built up on the repetitive control and assisted by state feedback with pole assignment. This paper starts by analyzing the dynamics of an ES power system in terms of its poles and zeros. After that, a reduced second-order model of the dynamics is formulated to avoid a notch filter in the pole assignment. A repetitive control for an ES power system is then designed to meet the two above mentioned objectives. Experimental tests carried out on a laboratory setup demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control system in significantly improving the ES power system performance, while reaching the two objectives. In particular, the tests outline the large mitigation of harmonics in the CL voltage under line voltage distortions and its fast stabilization action.

Since conventional massive antenna systems require too many RF chains, they have disadvantages of high implementation cost and complexity. To overcome this problem, hybrid precoding schemes have been proposed. But, they are still of high implementation cost and complexity because RF chains are connected to all antenna elements. In this paper, we consider massive MIMO systems with overlapped sub-array (OSA) structure and then, propose a hybrid precoding scheme. In the overlapped subarray structure, RF analog precoding matrix has a sparse structure where many elements of RF analog precoding matrix are zeros. Using this sparse property, we propose a GTP-based precoder design method for RF and baseband digital precoding. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme has more than 85% of the spectral efficiency of the fully-connected structure while having 20~30% of complexity of it.
For count responses, the situation of excess zeros often occurs in various research fields. Zero-inflated model is a common choice for modeling such count data. Bayesian inference for the zero-inflated model has long been recognized as a hard problem because the form of conditional posterior distribution is not in closed form. Recently, however, Pillow and Scott (2012) and Polson et al. (2013) proposed a Pólya-Gamma data-augmentation strategy for logistic and negative binomial models, facilitating Bayesian inference for the zero-inflated model. We apply Bayesian zero-inflated negative binomial regression model to longitudinal pharmaceutical data which have been previously analyzed by Min and Agresti (2005). To facilitate posterior sampling for longitudinal zero-inflated model, we use the Pólya-Gamma data-augmentation strategy.
This study aims to analyze the determinants of culture and art consumption of one person households using 「2019 National Art and Culture Activity Survey」. Based on previous research, cultural and economic capital, health perception, and residence were selected as independent variables, and 1,755 single household data on cultural attendance, art education, and demographics were extracted to analyze the relationships. Zero-inflated negative binomial model was employed as cultural attendance variable includes many zeros. It was found that education has a significant impact on cultural attendance possibility and frequency. However, art education in childhood, income, health perception, and residence were found to have selective effects, and unique characteristics of single households influences the findings. This study contributes to developing relevant research by focusing on the single households and provides implications to boost cultural consumption. Finally, directions for future research, such as considering psychographic variables, were suggested.
For the implementation of the crosstalk canceller, the filters with large length are needed, which is because that the length of the filters greatly depends on the length of the head-related impulse responses. In order to reduce the length of the crosstalk cancellation filters, many methods such as frequency warping, common acoustical pole and zero (CAPZ) modeling have been researched. In this paper, we propose a new method combining these two methods. To accomplish this, we design the filters using the CAPZ modeling on the warped domain, and then, we implement the filters using the poles and zeros de-warped to the linear domain. The proposed method provides improved channel separation performance through the frequency warping and significant reduction of the complexity through the CAPZ modeling. These are confirmed through various computer simulations.
Customer reviews help potential customers make purchasing decisions. However, the prevalence of reviews on websites push the customer to sift through them and change the focus from a mere search to identifying which of the available reviews are valuable and useful for the purchasing decision at hand. To identify useful reviews, websites have developed different mechanisms to give customers options when evaluating existing reviews. Websites allow users to rate the usefulness of a customer review as helpful or not. Amazon.com uses a ratio-type helpfulness, while Yelp.com uses a count-type usefulness index. This usefulness index provides helpful reviews to future potential purchasers. This study investigated the effects of sentiment and readability on useful votes for customer reviews. Similar studies on the relationship between sentiment and readability have focused on the ratio-type usefulness index utilized by websites such as Amazon.com. In this study, Yelp.com's count-type usefulness index for restaurant reviews was used to investigate the relationship between sentiment/readability and usefulness votes. Yelp.com's online customer reviews for stores in the beverage and food categories were used for the analysis. In total, 170,294 reviews containing information on a store's reputation and popularity were used. The control variables were the review length, store reputation, and popularity; the independent variables were the sentiment and readability, while the dependent variable was the number of helpful votes. The review rating is the moderating variable for the review sentiment and readability. The length is the number of characters in a review. The popularity is the number of reviews for a store, and the reputation is the general average rating of all reviews for a store. The readability of a review was calculated with the Coleman-Liau index. The sentiment is a positivity score for the review as calculated by SentiWordNet. The review rating is a preference score selected from 1 to 5 (stars) by the review author. The dependent variable (i.e., usefulness votes) used in this study is a count variable. Therefore, the Poisson regression model, which is commonly used to account for the discrete and nonnegative nature of count data, was applied in the analyses. The increase in helpful votes was assumed to follow a Poisson distribution. Because the Poisson model assumes an equal mean and variance and the data were over-dispersed, a negative binomial distribution model that allows for over-dispersion of the count variable was used for the estimation. Zero-inflated negative binomial regression was used to model count variables with excessive zeros and over-dispersed count outcome variables. With this model, the excess zeros were assumed to be generated through a separate process from the count values and therefore should be modeled as independently as possible. The results showed that positive sentiment had a negative effect on gaining useful votes for positive reviews but no significant effect on negative reviews. Poor readability had a negative effect on gaining useful votes and was not moderated by the review star ratings. These findings yield considerable managerial implications. The results are helpful for online websites when analyzing their review guidelines and identifying useful reviews for their business. Based on this study, positive reviews are not necessarily helpful; therefore, restaurants should consider which type of positive review is helpful for their business. Second, this study is beneficial for businesses and website designers in creating review mechanisms to know which type of reviews to highlight on their websites and which type of reviews can be beneficial to the business. Moreover, this study highlights the review systems employed by websites to allow their customers to post rating reviews.

Low noise amplifiers(LNAs) are an integral component of RF receivers and are frequently required to operate at wide frequency bands for various wireless systems. For wideband operation, important performance metrics such as voltage gain, return loss, noise figures and linearity have been carefully investigated and characterized for the proposed LNA. An inductive shunt feedback configuration is successfully employed in the input stage of the proposed LNA which incorporates cascaded networks with a peaking inductor in the buffer stage. Design equations for obtaining low and high input matching frequencies are easily derived, leading to a relatively simple method for circuit implementation. Careful theoretical analysis explains that poles and zeros are characterized and utilized for realizing the wideband response. Linearity is significantly improved because the inductor between gate and drain decreases the third-order harmonics at the output. Fabricated in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the chip area of this LNA is $0.202mm^2$, including pads. Measurement results illustrate that input return loss shows less than -7 dB, voltage gain greater than 8 dB, and a little high noise figure around 7~8 dB over 1.5~13 GHz. In addition, good linearity(IIP3) of 2.5 dBm is achieved at 8 GHz and 14 mA of current is consumed from a 1.8 V supply.

This article introduces a novel ultra wideband(UWB) bandpass filter(BPF) with sharp roll-off characteristics in stripline structure. The UWB characteristic is basically obtained from capacitive coupled cross resonator. The resonator has ${\lambda}/2$ length. And at the center of the resonator, two stubs are loaded, one is a ${\lambda}/8$ short-circuited stub and the other is a ${\lambda}/8$ open-circuited stub. The two stubs provide two attenuation poles at lower and upper cutoff frequencies. For input and output lines, two identical capacitively coupled lines have been installed to suppress the unwanted signals in the lower and upper stopbands. The filter has been designed for the U.S. UWB band(3.1~10.6 GHz) with two transmission zeros at 2.4 and 11.1 GHz. The filter has been realized with Low Temperature Core-fired Ceramic(LTCC) green tape which has the dielectric constant of 7.8. Measurement results agree well with HFSS simulation results. Insertion loss less than 0.7 dB and return loss better than 14 dB in the pass band have been measured. The group delay in the center frequency is 0.27 ns and the group delay variation within pass band is less than 0.5 ns. The size of the filter is $6{\times}18{\times}0.6\;mm^3$.

This paper proposes a novel concept for a microstrip resonator that can function as a filter and as an antenna at the same time. The proposed structure consists of an outer ring, an open loop-type inner ring, a circular patch, and three ports. The frequencies where the proposed structure works as a filter and as an antenna, respectively, are determined primarily by the radius of the inner ring and the circular patch. The measured results show that, when the microstrip resonator operates as a filtering device, this filter has about 15.1 % bandwidth at the center frequency of 0.63 GHz and a minimum insertion loss of 1.5 dB within passband. There are three transmission zeros at 0.52 GHz, 1.14 GHz, and 2.22 GHz. In the upper stopband, cross coupling - taking place at the stub of the outer ring - and the open loop-type inner ring produce one transmission zero each. The circular patch generates the dual-mode property of the filter and another transmission zero, whose location can be easily adjusted by altering the size of the circular patch. The proposed structure works as an antenna at 2.7 GHz, showing a gain of 3.8 dBi. Compared to a conventional patch antenna, the proposed structure has a similar antenna gain. At the resonant frequencies of the filter and the antenna, high isolation(less than -25 dB) between the filter port and the antenna port can be obtained.

This paper propose an efficient algorithm for selecting electric bus charging facility location. In nature, the optimal charging facility location problem is similar to Set Covering Problem. Set Covering Problem is the problem of covering all the rows of an $m{\times}n$ matrix of ones and zeros by a subset of columns with a minimal cost. It has many practical applications of modeling of real world problems. The Set Covering Problem has been proven to be NP-Complete. In order to overcome the computational complexity involved in seeking optimal solutions, this paper present an enhanced greedy algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm. In this paper, we apply the developed algorithm to Seoul's public bus system.
