비접지 계통에서 영상전류 위상을 이용한 고장표시 생성 알고리즘 (A Fault Indicator Generation Algorithm using Phase Angle of Zero-Sequence Current in Ungrounded System)

  • Most faults are single-phase-to-ground fault in ungrounded system. The fault currents of single-phase-to-ground are much smaller than detection thresholds of measurement devices, so detecting single-phase-to-ground faults is difficult and important in ungrounded system. This paper proposed to a FI(Fault Indicator) generation algorithm in ungrounded system. The algorithm just using line-to-line voltage and zero-sequence current detects fault line, fault phase, fault section and FI(Fault Indicator) at terminal device, This paper also proposed to application plan for this algorithm. In the case study, the proposed algorithm has been testified in demo system by Matlab/Simulink simulations.

  • The propose of Dynamic Voltage Restorer(DVR) is the Power Quality controller of very short term (under 10 cycle). In this paper, we propose a model of distribution for zero sequence analysis and DVR for compensation. With EMTDC/PSCAD simulation, we can verify our method and problems of existing method. A new energy optimizing method is also investigation.

  • In this paper, a novel six-level inverter is proposed. Voltage regulation is applied at DC-link and flying capacitors through the implementation of phase-shifted carrier-based modulation with zero-sequence voltage injection. The performance of the proposed structure has been verified under various modulation indices, where low voltage ripple is achieved at each capacitor and total harmonic distortions (THD) of line voltage at unity modulation index is about 15.95%.

  • A reliable fault type identification (phase selection) plays a very important role in transmission line protection, particularly in Extra High Voltage(EHV) networks. The conventional fault type identification algorithm used the phase difference between positive and negative sequence current excluding load current. But, it is difficult to pick out only fault current since we can not know when a fault occurs and identify the fault type in weak-infeed conditions that dominate zero-sequence current in phase current. The proposed algorithm can identify the accurately fault type using the sum of unit vectors which are calculated by positive-sequence votage and negative-sequence voltage.

Pulse-Sequence Analysis of Discharges in Air, Liquid and Solid Insulating Materials

  • Electrical discharges may occur in gas, liquid as well as solid insulating materials. This paper describes the investigation results on the discharges in air, silicone oil and low density polyethylene (LDPE) using needle plane electrode system under AC voltage of 50 Hz. The experimental results showed that for discharge in air (corona), discharge pulses were concentrated around the peak of applied voltage at negative half cycle. For silicone oil positive as well as negative discharges were observed which concentrated around the peak of applied voltage. The positive pulse number was smaller but the magnitude was higher than that of negative discharge. Discharges in void took place at wider range of phase of applied voltage. The unbalance in pulse number and magnitude similar to that of oil discharges were observed. For electrical treeing in LDPE, the discharges were spread before the zero cross of the applied voltage up to the peak at both positive and negative half cycles. The discharge pulse sequence analysis indicated that the PD occurrence in air, oil and void were strongly affected by the magnitude of applied voltage. However, for electrical treeing it was observed that the discharge occurrence was strongly affected by the time derivative of the applied voltage (dv/dt).

  • An effective Carrier-Based PWM scheme that enables the instantaneous quality of each branch point voltage of a diode clamped 4-level inverter to be reduced at a low modulation index is described. This scheme presents a computed zero sequence voltage of PWM by the feedback of both DC-link voltages and load currents. The proposed PWM scheme enables to increase the controllable region of DC-link voltage and makes it possible to operate with small DC-link capacitors. The validity of the proposed PWM scheme is verified by simulation results.

  • An optimized PWM switching strategy for an induction motor voltage control is developed and demonstrated. Space vector modulation in voltage source inverter offers improved DC-bus utilization and reduced commutation losses, and has been therefor recognizedas the perfered PWM method, especially in the case of digital implementation. Three-phase invertor voltage control by space vector modulation consists of switching between the two active and one zero voltage vector by using the proposed optimal PWM algorithm. The prefered switching sequence is defined as a function of the modulation index and period of a carrier wave. The sequence is selected by suing the inverter switching losses and the current ripple as the criteria. For low and medium power application, the experimental results indicate that good dynamic response and reduced harmonic distortion can be achieved by increasing switching frequency.

6 직렬 연결된 ITER VS 컨버터의 시퀀스제어 비교 해석 (Comparative Analysis of Sequence Control in Six Series-Connected ITER VS Converters)

  • This study investigates the structure and operation of the ITER VS converter and proposes a sequence control method for six series-connected VS converters to reduce reactive power. The operation and the proposed sequence control method are verified through RTDS simulation. The ITER VS converter must supply voltage/current to the superconducting magnets for plasma current vertical stabilization, and the four-quadrant operation must proceed without a zero-current discontinuous section. The operation mode of the VS converter is separated into a 12- and 6-pulse circulating current and transition modes according to the size of the load current. The output voltage of the unit VS converter is limited because of the rated voltage; however, the superconducting coil must increase the operating output voltage. Thus, the VS converter must be connected in a 6-series to provide the required operating output voltage. The output voltage of the VS converters is controlled continuously; however, reactive power is limited within a minimized value of the grid. In this study, the unit converter is compared with converters connected in a 6-series to determine a suitable sequence control method. The output voltage is the same in all cases, but the maximum reactive power is reduced from 100% to 73%. This sequence control method is verified through RTDS simulation.

Neutral Point Balancing Algorithm for Multi-level Converter under Unbalanced Operating Conditions

  • This paper presents a neutral point deviation compensating control algorithm applied to a 3-level NPC converter. The neutral point deviation is analyzed with a focus on the current flowing out of or into the neutral point of the dc link. Based on the zero sequence components of the reference voltages, this paper analyzes the neutral point deviation and balancing control for 3-level NPC converter. An analytical method is proposed to calculate the injected zero sequence voltage for NP balancing based on average neutral current. This paper also proposes a control scheme compensating for the neutral point deviation under generalized unbalanced grid operating conditions. The positive and negative sequence components of the pole voltages and ac input currents are employed to accurately explain the behavior of 3-level NPC converter. Simulation and experimental results for a test set up of 30kW are shown to verify the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • Power quality refers to voltage quality and current quality. Voltage quality means supply reliance such as voltage sag, voltage swell. and short-time interruption. Current quality is related to power factor, harmonic distortion, negative-sequence and zero-sequence current. We fabricated Customer STATCOM to improve current quality such as reactive power, harmonic distortion, and load imbalance. In this paper. We summarize the spec, of STATCOM. its hardware configuration, and control system.
