  • This paper discusses the ZVS/ ZVZCS Three-Level converter using the minimum auxiliary circuit. A primary auxiliary circuit, which consists of one coupled inductor is added in the primary circuit to provide ZVZCS conditions to primary switches. ZVS is for outer switches and ZCS or ZVS is for inner switches. Many advantages including simple circuit topology high efficiency, and low cost make this converter attractive for high power applications. The principle of operation, feature and design considerations arc illustrated and verified through the experiment with a 2kHz 400kHz IGBT based experimental circuit.

  • A flyback converter that decreases ZVS resonant voltage by using ZVS capacitor is proposed. Because of high resonant voltage at ZVS convenient circuits use expensive devices of high power. The devices make the total price high. A circuit with ZVS capacitor is proposed to down the price. A practical converter can be constructed. Operation of the converter is analyzed and simulated. We compare experiment results with simulation results. We show that the system is identical with the simulated system.

  • This paper proposes a new full ZVS-range asymmetrical half bridge converter. It uses the variable transient current build-up technique with the load variations. The current build-up is accomplished by using the secondary synchronous switch control. Due to the blocking capacitor in secondary side, the voltage applied to leakage inductor varies with the load variations during current build-up period. Therefore, the unnecessary current build-up of leakage inductor current in heavy load condition is prevented and more current build-up in medium and light load condition is achieved for ZVS operation. That is, the variant current build-up with the load variation is accomplished for the ZVS operation. Furthermore, the DC offset of the transformer magnetizing current is also eliminated and the utilization of magnetic core is maximized.

  • A zero-voltage-switching(ZVS) programmable power supply employing the ZVS active clamp forward converter is suggested. Through the analysis on operation region of the supply, the constant power region and the maximum current limit region are clearly identified. Furthermore, the duty ratio range corresponding to the variation range of the output voltages and the control scheme at the minimum duty ration region are presented. Finally, in order to vefity the validity of the operation for the proposed power supply, experimental evaluation results obtained on an 1kW prototype power supply for the 198~242VAC input voltage range(220VAC$\pm$10%), the 0~25V output voltage range, and the 100kHz switching frequency are presented.

  • An interleaved PWM converter is proposed to implement the features of zero voltage switching (ZVS), load current sharing and ripple current reduction. The proposed converter includes two ZVS converters with a common clamp capacitor. With the shared capacitor, the charge balance of the two interleaved parts is automatically regulated under input voltage and load variations. The active-clamping circuit is used to realize the ZVS turn-on so that the switching losses on the power switches are reduced. The ZVS turn-on of all of the switching devices is achieved during the transition interval. The interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) operation will reduce the ripple current and the size of the input and output capacitors. The current double rectifier (CDR) is adopted in the secondary side to reduce output ripple current so that the sizes of the output chokes and capacitor are reduced. The circuit configuration, operation principles and design considerations are presented. Finally experimental results based on a 408W (24V/17A) prototype are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

  • This study deals with a bidirectional interleaved soft switching DC-DC converter for a wide range of input voltages. The proposed converter operates in complementary switching with the purpose of inductor size reduction and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) operation. The current ripple related to complementary switching is minimized by three-phase interleaved operation. The main characteristics of the proposed topology are its soft-switching method of operation and its simple structure. The soft-switching operation and the system efficiency of the proposed converter are verified by experimental results.

  • This paper presents an improved ZVS partial series resonant DC/DC converter (PSRC) with low conduction losses suitable for high power and high frequency applications. The proposed PSRC have advantages of zero-voltage-swiching (ZVS) of main switches for entire load ranges and low conduction losses of main switches by decreasing current stresses Also the reduction of the effective duty cycle is not occurred during the resonant period of the main circuit because the auxiliary circuit of the proposed converter is placed out of the main power path. An improved ZVS PSRC has a so much characteristics with respect to the reduction of current stress. The operation principles of the proposed converter are explained in detail and the various simulated and experimental results show the validity of the proposed converter.

  • This paper proposes a boost-input self-driven active clamp ZVS converter eliminating the extra dirve circuit for the active clamp switch. The converter used the auxiliary winding of the transformer to drive the active clamp switch and to achieve asymmetrical duty control. This paper presents the operation principle and the analyzed results of dynamic characteristics including steady state characteristics of the converter proposed. The experimental results were used to verify the theoretical predictions. A 300W (15V/20A) prototype converter that only exhibited 2-turn winding number in the auxiliary winding was sufficient to drive the active clamp switch on the input voltage of 80V. Finally, the maximum efficiency of 91.2% was achieved for the prototype converter and the proposed converter had stable closed loop characteristic with phase margin $55^{\circ}$.
