  • In this paper, we propose a gait generation method for quadruped robots using the xz-axis sway of the quadruped robot, which minimizes the shake of the quadruped robot and maximizes the stability margin. In the proposed method, the gait is generated based on wave gaits and the stability analysis uses the body tilt information of the quadruped robot according to the leg's height of leg. In addition, to reduce the impact on the body caused by the z-axis sway while walking, the proposed method generates the smooth walking movement trajectory with less impact by using Fourier series. Finally, to verify the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed method, we carry out the computer simulations and the real walking experiments with the implemented quadruped robot.

  • Wild-type V. vulnificus cannot grow using lactose as the sole carbon source or take up the sugar. However, prolonged culture of this species in media containing lactose as the sole carbon source leads to the generation of a spontaneous lactose-utilizing (LU) mutant. This mutant showed strong ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity, whereas the wild-type strain showed a barely detectable level of the activity. A mutant with a lesion in a gene homologous to the lacZ of E. coli in the bacterium no longer showed ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity or generated spontaneous LU mutants, suggesting that the lacZ homolog is responsible for the catabolism of lactose, but the expression of the gene and genes for transport of lactose is tightly regulated. Genetic analysis of spontaneous LU mutants showed that all the mutations occur in a lacI homolog, which is located downstream to the lacZ and putative ABC-type lac permease genes. Consistent with this, a genomic library clone containing the lad gene, when present in trans, made the spontaneous LU mutants no longer able to utilize lactose as the sole carbon source. Taken together with the observation that excessive amounts of exogenously supplemented possible catabolic products of lactose have negative effects on the growth and survivability of V. vulnificus, we suggest that V. vulnificus has evolved to carry a repressor that tightly regulates the expression of lacZ to keep the intracellular toxic catabolic intermediates at a sublethal level.

  • This study was to identify generational difference of values of life and factors influencing turnover of Korean nurses. Total 294 nurses of generation-X, Y, and Z participated. Analysis of variance(ANOVA) and Multiple Regression Analyse was conducted. The result of the study was that Gen-X and Y nurses considered family life as the most important thing in life and Importance of work was the next by Gen-X and leisure time by Gen-Y. However, Gen-Z nurses regarded leisure time as the most important. These findings indicate that influencing factors on turnover of Korean nurses were different by nurses generations. These results indicates that it is necessary to develop different strategies by generations in order to manage turnover issues for Korean nurses.

  • The rapidly changing security environment and technological innovations of the 21st century present new challenges to military organizations. Particularly, as the MZ generation, comprised of Millennials (born 1981-1996) and Generation Z (born 1997-2012), emerges as the primary workforce in the military, traditional military personnel management methods are being called into question. The MZ generation, as digital natives, are technologically proficient, prioritize personal growth and quality of life, and prefer horizontal communication and participation. The purpose of this study is to reestablish talent acquisition and retention strategies for military organizations, considering the characteristics and demands of the MZ generation. To this end, we analyzed advanced talent management techniques from the corporate sector and explored ways to apply them to the unique context of military organizations. Additionally, by examining the current status and challenges of the Korean military, we attempted a balanced approach that considers both global trends and Korea's specific circumstances. The research results suggest various strategies including career development programs, cultural innovation, improvement of reward systems, participatory decision-making, enhancement of digital competencies, and creation of flexible work environments. These strategies are expected to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of military organizations while simultaneously enhancing job satisfaction and organizational commitment among MZ generation service members.

  • A precision hi-directional actuator for a high precision leveling system with $Z{\Theta}_x{\Theta}_y$ motions is proposed and designed in this paper. The actuator is composed of a force generation structure, a guide mechanism, and a symmetric structure. At first, its driving force is generated by a change of flux in air gaps by permanent and changeable flux. The permanent flux is generated by a permanent magnet. The changeable flux is created by variable current flowing through coil. The combination of permanent and changeable flux makes various flux densities in air gaps between moving part and fixed yokes. And then, the difference between flux densities in lower and upper gaps creates forces fur the $bi-direction({\pm}z)$ motion. The guide mechanism of this actuator is composed of two circular plates and one shaft. Reducing motions generated by forces except z-motion, these circular plates endow the actuator with high stiffness for fast settling time. And the function of the shaft is to transfer motion to an object. At last, total body has a symmetric structure to be stable on thermal error. The actuator is designed by MAXWELL 2D and ProMECHANICA. The designed actuator is evaluated by 8nm laser doppler vibrometer, dynamic signal analyzer, and simple PID controller.

  • Three vectors, pSG1, 2, and 3, which facilitate in vivo expression technology (IVET) in Gram-negative bacteria, were developed. Vectors pSG1and 2 are derivatives of ColE1, and pSG3 is a derivative of an R6K replicon. These vectors contain oriT sites that allow mobilization when the RK2 Tra functions are provided in trans. These vectors contain promoterless lacZ (pl-lacZ) and promoterless aph (pl-aph) transcriptionally fused together, which allow qualitative and quantitative measurements of the expression of genes in the genome of bacterial cells. pSG1 and 3 contain gentamicin-resistance genes, and pSG2 carries a streptomycin-/spectinomycin-resistance gene, allowing for selection of recombinants generated by a single crossover between a library fragment cloned into a pSG vector and the identical region in the genome of a bacterial species from which the library fragment originated. These vectors were successfully applied to the generation of random fusions at high rates in the genomes of four representative Gram-negative bacteria. In addition, the expression level of ${\beta}-galactosidase$ and the degree of resistance to kanamycin in cells with fusions generated by these vectors were found to be linearly correlated, proving that these vectors can be used for IVET.

  • This paper presents a grid connected photo-voltaic system using a quasi-Z-source inverter (QZSI) for power stage reduction. The power stage can be reduced because of an additional shoot-through stage which is a characteristic of QZSI. Therefore, by utilizing a QZSI the system's efficiency can be increased. In this paper, for applying a QZSI to a PV system, control methods such as maximum power point tracking (MPPT), point of common coupling (PCC) current control and PWM are studied and verified through simulation and experiment. In order to explain the above controllers, the characteristics of a QZSI are first analyzed. Then the MPPT control technique with a modified P&O method, the PCC current control for the regulation of the dc-link capacitor voltage and the PWM methods for the proposed system are explained. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment with a 3kW system.

  • Na-A zeolite (Z-Cl) was synthesized from coal fly ash, which is a byproduct of coal combustion for the generation of electricity. The adsorption of $Cu^{2+}$ and $Zn^{2+}ions$ onto Z-C1 was investigated via batch tests over a range of temperatures (303.15 to 323.15 K). The resultant experimental equilibrium data were compared to theoretical values calculated using model equations. With these results, the kinetics and equilibrium parameters of adsorption were calculated using Lagergren and Langmuir-Freundlich models. The adsorption kinetics revealed that the pseudo second-order kinetic mechanism is predominant. The maximum adsorption capacity ($q_{max}$) values were 139.0-197.9 mg $Zn^{2+}$/g and 75.0-105.1 mg $Cu^{2+}/g$. Calculation of the thermodynamic properties revealed that the absorption reactions for both $Cu^{2+}$ and $Zn^{2+}$ were spontaneous and endothermic. Collectively, these results suggest that the synthesized zeolite, Z-C1, can potentially be used as an adsorbent for metal ion recovery during the treatment of industrial wastewater at high temperatures.

  • Quasi Z-Source Multilevel Inverter (QZMLI) topology has attracted grid connected Photovoltaic (PV) systems in recent days. So there is a remarkable research thrust in switching techniques and control strategies of QZMLI. This paper presents the mathematical analysis of Phase shift- Pulse Width Amplitude Modulation (PS-PWAM) for QZMLI and emphasizes on the advantages of the technique. The proposed technique uses the maximum and minimum envelopes of the reference waves for generation of pulses and proportion of it to generate shoot-through pulses. Hence, it results in maximum utilization of input voltage, lesser switching loss, reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the output voltage, reduced inductor current ripple and capacitor voltage ripple. Due to these qualities, the QZMLI with PS-PWAM emerges to be the best suitable for PV based grid connected applications compared to Phase shift-Pulse Width Modulation (PS-PWM). The detailed math analysis of the proposed technique has been disclosed. Simulation has been performed for the proposed technique using MATLAB/Simulink. A prototype has been built to validate the results for which the pulses were generated using FPGA /SPARTAN 3E.
