  • In the cyber-physical system, big data collected from numerous sensors and IoT devices is transferred to the Cloud for processing and analysis. When transferring data to the Cloud, merging data into one single file is more efficient than using the data in the form of split files. However, current merging and splitting operations are performed at the user-level and require many I / O requests to memory and storage devices, which is very inefficient and time-consuming. To solve this problem, this paper proposes kernel-level partitioning and combining operations. At the kernel level, splitting and merging files can be done with very little overhead by modifying the file system metadata. We have designed the proposed algorithm in detail and implemented it in the Linux Ext4 file system. In our experiments with the real Cloud storage system, our technique has achieved a transfer time of up to only 17% compared to the case of transferring split files. It also confirmed that the time required can be reduced by up to 0.5% compared to the existing user-level method.

  • In Korea, in the process of transition from a rural society to an industrial society, the opportunities for women's economic participation increased relatively. As a result, the marriage age of women increased, and it was recognized that the economic opportunity cost of married women and their participation in economic activities lead to low birthrates. In particular, it is time for an empirical analysis to determine whether workplace types affect the fertility rate. To this end, we analyzed the effect of workplace type on fertility using the labor panel data from 2003 to 2018. The results are as follows. A statistically significant negative relationship was drawn when unemployed women were compared with women employed in the private sector. However, there was no statistically significant effect when comparing unemployed women with women working in the public sector.

  • The cultivation methods of Acanthopanax in Korea need to be optimized. Hence, this study investigated the effect of different fertilizer ratios and planting dates on the growth and acanthoside D content of two (2) Acanthopanax species. The current recommended fertilizer rate of 10.5-8.5-8.5 $kg/ha^-$ ($N-P_2O_5-K_2O$, respectively) produced the best plant growth of Acanthopanax. For the first year, the acanthoside D content resulting from the 2P (2x phosphate) rate was higher than that from the other fertilizer ratios, yet there were no significant differences resulting from the various treatments for either Acanthopanax divaricatus or Acanthopanax koreanum. Similarly, for the second year, there were no significant differences in the acanthoside D content resulting from the various fertilizer ratios, although for both species the acanthoside D content resulting from the 2P rate was slightly higher than that from the other treatments. Therefore, the results indicated that doubling the amount of phosphate increased the acanthoside D content. Plus, the optimum planting date with respect to growth and productivity for Acanthopanax divaricatus was identified as April 15.

  • The waterway tunnel zone (length 1,484m) in the Hyeonseo-myeon area that is a part of Yeongcheon dam waterway tunnel has been studied to characterize the relationship between groundwater inflow into the waterway tunnel and hydrogeologic characteristics. The effects of sandstone thickness in the tunnel section. fracture density, fracture aperture and spacing, fault zone width and hydraulic conductivity on the early inflow (inflow prior to the lining and grouting) are investigated. The relationship between fracture density and hydraulic conductivity is also considered. The result of the study suggests that fault zone width has the greatest effect on groundwater inflow into the tunnel, and sandstone thickness, hydraulic conductivity and fracture density in order shows an influence on the inflow.

  • High-performance liquid chromatography was performed in order to analyze the changes in the flavonoid content (rutin, hyperin, afzelin, quercetin, and kaempferol) of Acanthopanax divaricatus and A. koreanum, in response to different cultivation methods (pinching height, planting time, and top dressing). The total flavonoid content of A. divaricatus and A. koreanum ranged from 0.201 to 0.690 mg/g with different pinching heights, 0.143 to 1.001 mg/g for different planting times, and 0.156 to 1.074 mg/g depending on the rate of fertilizer application. In both A. divaricatus and A. koreanum, the total flavonoid content in the upper section of the plant was greater than that in the lower section. These results demonstrate which cultivation methods maximize the flavonoid content of A. divaricatus and A. koreanum, and thus help to optimize flavonoid yields to improve production for nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and cosmeceutical applications.

  • The volcanic rocks around the Jayang caldera are classified in an order such as Jukjang Volcanics, Doil Rhyolite, Unjusan Tuff and Rhyolite intrusions. By the SHRIMP U-Pb zircon datings from zircons, eruption ages of the Unjusan Tuff are constrained as 66.65±0.96 Ma in the intracaldera, and 66.08±0.62 Ma in the extracaldera outflow, and intrusion age of the ring dike is investigated as 60.74±0.66 Ma. The age data indicate that the caldera was collapsed between 66.08 Ma and 60.74 Ma, just before the dike intruded after the explosive eruption of the Unjusan Tuff. The Jayang caldera shows the composite igneous process of a perfect volcanic cycle passing from ash-flow tuffs through caldera collapse into ring dikes in the Jayang area.

  • Sports participation can contribute to organization members' work-life balance and work motivation in order to increase performance. Based on the achievement motivation theory, this study tested the effect of sports participation on leaders' effectiveness and employees' performance. Data was collected from 213 leaders and subordinates in the South Korean army. Results indicated that leader effectiveness mediated the positive relationship between sports participation of leaders and subordinates' outcomes, such as task performance and OCB. We also found that sports participation of subordinates moderated the positive relationship between leader effectiveness and subordinates outcomes (i.e., task performance and OCB). These findings further suggest that sports participation plays an important role for leaders and subordinates to increase leader effectiveness and in/extra-role behaviors.
