Relationship between Winter Water Temperature in the Eastern Part of the Yellow Sea and Siberian High Pressure and Arctic Oscillation

  • Water temperature in the eastern part of the Yellow Sea (EYS) during winter (JFM) and summer (JJA) from 1964 to 2009 and Siberian High Pressure Index (SHI) and Arctic Oscillation index (AOI) during winter (JFM) from 1950 to 2011 were used to analyze long-term variation in oceanic and atmospheric conditions and relationship between winter and summer bottom water temperature. Winter water temperature at 0, 30 and 50 m had fluctuated highly till the late of 1980s, but after this it was relatively stable. The long-term trends in winter water temperature at both depths were separated with cold regime and warm regime on the basis of the late 1980s. Winter water temperature at 0m and 50m during warm regime increased about $0.9^{\circ}C$ and $1.1^{\circ}C$ respectively compared to that during cold regime. Fluctuation pattern in winter water temperature matched well with SHI and AOI The SHI had negative correlation with water temperature at 0 m (r=-0.51) and 50 m (r=-0.58). On the other hand, the AO had positive correlation with Winter water temperature at 0 m (r=0.34) and 50 m (r=0.45). Cyclic fluctuation pattern of winter water temperature had a relation with SHI and AO, in particular two to six-year periodicity were dominant from the early of the 1970s to the early of the 1980s. Before the late of 1980s, change pattern in winter water temperature at 0 and 50 m was similar with that in the bottom water temperature during summer, but after this, relationship between two variables was low.

  • 수온과 기후 지수 자료를 이용하여 한국주변해 상층부의 수온변동과 북태평양 기후체제와의 관계를 분석하였다. 1970, 1980 그리고 1990년대 후반에 발생한 기후체제전환은 해양생태계의 구조 변화에 중요한 영향을 끼쳤다. 북서태평양 대륙주변부에 위치한 우리나라 주변해역 또한, 10년 이상의 장주기적인 변화의 영향을 받지만, 해역별 반응은 다르다. 동해, 서해, 남해 상층부(10 m)의 경우 1988년의 기후체제전환은 3개 해역의 상층부 수온변화에서 동시에 나타난다. 반면, 1998년은 동해남부해역과 서해, 1976년의 기후체제전환은 전 해역의 겨울철 수온변화에서만 그 영향이 나타난다. 1998년 기후체제전환 이후, 서해, 동중국해, 동해 남부의 수온은 점차 감소하지만, 동해 북부해역은 1988년 기후체제전환 이후 증가하는 형태이다.

정상체중인과 비만인의 음료와 컵 색상에 따른 인지량의 차이에 관한 연구 (Difference in Volume Perception According to Beverage or Cup Color in Normal Weight and Obese College Students)

  • We examined the perception of volume in college students with a normal weight versus those students with obesity. College students were divided into a normal weight group (<23 body mass index, n=121) and an obese group (${\geq}23$ body mass index, n=110), The perception of volume was measured under different beverage colors (colorless, black, yellow, and blue) and cup colors (colorless, black, yellow, and blue) containing the same amount of liquid (150 ml). We found that the normal weight group perceived significantly more liquid in a cup with a blue beverage versus a colorless one. The obese group perceived significantly more liquid in a cup with a yellow or blue beverage versus a colorless one. In terms of cup color, the normal weight group perceived significantly more liquid in a black color cup compared to a blue color cup. However, there were no differences in perceived volume according to the color of cup among the obese group. There were no significant differences in the perceived volume between the normal and obese group under all conditions tested. In conclusion, beverage and cup color effects volume perception in normal weight students, while only beverage color effects volume perception in obese students. Therefore, controlling, the color of beverages and cups may help to control the consumption of drinks.

버어리종 잎담배의 수량, 품질 및 이화학성에 미치는 포지비옥도, 품종 및 질소시용량의 영향 (EFFECTS OF FIELD PRODUCTIVITY, VARIETY AND NITROGEN RATE ON THE YIELD, QUALITY AND PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BURLEY TOBACCO)

  • A field experiment was conducted to find out the effects of field productivity, variety and nitrogen rate on the yield, quality, chemical constituents and physical properties of burley cured leaf in three field with different productivity(Degree of field productivity: A ; high, B ; medium, C : low) during successive two years(1988~89). The yield and quality were remarkably lowered when nitrogen fertilizer being applied much in low productive field. As compared with Burley 21, KB101 showed high yield, particularly the yield of KB101 in low productive field was relatively high. The effect of nitrogen rate on the yield was somewhat different according to field productivity and production year. When the nitrogen fertilizer being applied above 22.5kg/10a, the added nitrogen had no effect on the yield. Total nitrogen content of cured leaf grown in low productive field was high while total alkaloid was low, therefore total alkaloid/total nitrogen ratio was remarkably low. The lightness, red and yellow color of cured leaf grown in low productive field was remarkably low. As compared with Burley 21, the contents of total alkaloid and total nitrogen and shatter resistance index of cured leaf was somewhat low, while the filling power, lightness, red and yellow color were slightly high. Total nitrogen content of cured leaf was increased remarkably by nitrogen addition, but total alkaloid was not increased though the nitrogen fertilizer being applied above 22.5kg/10a. The filling power and shatter resistance index of cured leaf grown in high nitrogen plot, and the lightness and yellow color were low while the red color was relatively high. It comes into question that the visual quality being increased as well as increment of yield and nitrogenous compounds by nitrogen addition in high productive field. In low productive field, it is considerable that nitrogen addition for high yield should be prohibited because it causes the decrement of yield and quality, on the contrary.

Deep Blue LED 광원과 형광체를 이용한 초고연색 백색 인공태양광 LED 소자의 개발 (Development & Reliability Verification of Ultra-high Color Rendering White Artificial Sunlight LED Device using Deep Blue LED Light Source and Phosphor)

  • Currently, yellow phosphor of Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ (YAG:Ce) fluorescent material is applied to a 450~480nm blue LED light source to implement a white LED device and it has a simple structure, can obtain sufficient luminance, and is economical. However, in this method, in terms of spectrum analysis, it is difficult to mass-produce white LEDs having the same color coordinates due to color separation cause by the wide wavelength gap between blue and yellow band. There is a disadvantage that it is difficult to control optical properties such as color stability and color rendering. In addition, this method does not emit purple light in the range of 380 to 420nm, so it is white without purple color that can not implement the spectrum of the entire visible light spectrum as like sunlight. Because of this, it is difficult to implement a color rendering index(CRI) of 90 or higher, and natural light characteristics such as sunlight can not be expected. For this, need for a method of implementing sunlight with one LED by using a method of combining phosphors with one light source, rather than a method of combining red, blue, and yellow LEDs. Using this method, the characteristics of an artificial sunlight LED device with a spectrum similar to that of sunlight were demonstrated by implementing LED devices of various color temperatures with high color rendering by injecting phosphors into a 405nm deep blue LED light source. In order to find the spectrum closest to sunlight, different combinations of phosphors were repeatedly fabricated and tested. In addition, reliability and mass productivity were verified through temperature and humidity tests and ink penetration tests.

해양오염의 진단을 위한 생화학적 오염지표에 관한 연구 IV. 황해산 도다리 (Pleuronichthys cornutus)의 지질성분의 변화 (Study on Biochemical Pollutant Markers for Diagnosis of Marine Pollution IV. Changes in Lipid Components of Flounder (Pleuronichthys cornutus) in the Yellow Sea)

  • 해양오염의 진단을 위한 생화학적 오염지표 설정의 기초연구의 일환으로서 오염이 심각한 서해산 (황해) 도다리 (Pleuronichthys conutus)의 혈액의 지질성분을 분석 평가하였다. 서해안의 자연산 도다리의 혈액중의 헤모글로빈의 함량은 동해안 포항의 자연산 도다리 대비 $15\~30\%$의 현저한 감소현상이 나타나서 서해안의 내해 (內海) 뿐만 아니라 외해 (外海)의 오염도 상당히 심각함을 알 수 있었다. 서해안의 자연산 도다리의 혈청중의 중성지질 (TG)의 함량도 포항의 자연산 도다리의 혈청중의 TG의 함량 대비 $15\~50\%$나 유의적으로 높았다. 서해안 자연산 도다리의 혈청중의 총콜레스테롤의 함량은 포항의 자연산 도다리의 혈청중의 총콜레스테롤의 함량 대비 아산과 서산은 $20\~25\%$나 높았지만, 격포나 보령은 차이가 없었다. 서해안의 자연산 도다리의 혈청 중의 LDL-콜레스테롤의 함량도 각각 $15\~35\%$나 유의적으로 높았지만, HDL-콜레스테롤의 함량의 증가는 거의 인정할 수 없었다. 또한 서해안의 자연산 도다리의 동맥 경화지수는 포항의 자연산 도다리의 동맥경화지수 대비 각각 $10\~60\%$의 유의적인 증가효과가 인정되었다. 질병이나 노화와 함께 증가되는 것으로 알려진 인지질에 대한 총콜레스테롤의 함량비 (T-Chol/PL ratio)는 서해안의 자연산 도다리의 T-Chol/PL비가 포항의 자연산 도다리의 T-Chol/PL비와 거의 유사한 값을 나타내고 있었다. 이상의 결과에서 볼 때 서해안의 자연산 도다리의 오염도 서해안의 넙치와 마찬가지로 병적상태로 오염의 정도가 상당히 심각할 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 사실은 서해안의 수질환경이 공장폐수 및 육상오수의 유입, 그리고 농약 등의 오염원에 노출되어 있다는 사실을 알 수 있다.

열풍건조 황색 양파분말과 자색 양파분말을 첨가한 쿠키의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of Cookies Added with Hot-Air Dried Yellow and Red Onion Powder)

  • 황색 양파와 자색 양파의 소비 촉진을 위한 양파분말 가공 식품 개발의 일환으로 열풍건조 양파분말을 제조하여 물리적 특성 및 이화학적 특성을 조사하고, 황색 양파분말 및 자색 양파분말을 1, 3, 5, 10% 첨가한 양파쿠키를 제조하여 품질 특성을 알아보았다. 일반성분 측정 결과 황색 양파분말의 수분, 조단백질 및 조회분 함량이 자색 양파분말보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 분말의 색도는 양파 고유색 때문에 황색 양파분말에서 L값, b값이 큰 것으로 나타났고, 자색 양파 분말은 a값이 높은 것으로 나타났는데 갈변도 측정결과에서는 황색 양파분말의 갈변도가 자색 양파분말보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이화학적 측정 결과에서는 황색 양파분말의 페놀함량이 자색 양파분말보다 높았고, 총당 함량은 자색 양파분말이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 쿠키반죽의 pH는 양파분말 첨가량이 증가할수록 감소하였으며, 밀도는 대조군에 비해 양파분말 첨가군이 줄어든 것으로 나타났다. 소성 후 쿠키의 경도 측정 결과 대조군에 비해 양파분말 첨가군이 월등히 큰 것으로 나타났으며 자색 양파분말 첨가군의 경도가 황색 양파분말 첨가군의 경도보다 단단한 것으로 측정되었다. 쿠키의 관능적 특성은 자색 양파분말 3% 첨가군이 양파 냄새, 양파 맛, 조직감, 전체적인 기호도면에서 가장 좋은 것으로 측정되었으며 뒤를 이어 황색 양파분말 5% 첨가군이 좋은 점수를 받았다. 따라서 열풍건조 황색 양파분말의 경우 5% 첨가군, 열풍건조 자색 양파분말의 경우 3% 첨가군이 개발 가능성이 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

한국 서해 참조기(Larimichthys polyactis)의 육안판별법과 GSI판별법에 의한 성숙체장 추정 (Estimating Length at Sexual Maturity of the Small Yellow Croaker Larimichthys polyactis in the Yellow Sea of Korea Using Visual and GSI Methods)

  • Determination of the precise size at sexual maturity is very important for science-based stock assessment and fisheries resource management. In this study, two different models, (1) a visual method and (2) a gonadosomatic index (GSI) method, were employed to estimate length at sexual maturity of the small yellow croaker Larimichthys polyactis in the Yellow Sea of Korea. The visual method is a common qualitative method using visual gonadal identification. Conversely, the GSI method is a quantitative method using the GSI, which can be easily and precisely collected. We compared results from these methods to determine the best approach, and to examine the practicality of the GSI method. Logistic regression of the maturity ogive was conducted using a general linear model (GLM) with the R statistics program. Also, the bootstrapped 95% confidence intervals of all estimates were calculated. The best-fit model was the visual method (RMc2=0.805, AUC=0.989, L50=15.1). Among models using the GSI method, the model computing GSIref=0.94 was the best-fit model (RMc2=0.792, AUC=0.989, L50=15.2). There was no significant difference between the two models, evidencing the effectiveness and accuracy of the GSI method.

황색산화철을 포함하는 혼합형 고체추진제의 특성에 관한 연구 (2) (Composite Solid Propellants for Propulsion System Including a Yellow Iron Oxide (2))

  • 황색 산화철을 적용한 추진제의 기계적 특성은 적색산화철을 적용한 추진제와 비교하여 기계적물성이 다소 증가하였다. 또한 황색산화철을 적용한 추진제는 두 종류의 AP 입자를 사용하였으며 총량을 유지하고 작은 입자의 AP 비율 증가 시 연소속도가 증가하였다. 황색산화철을 첨가한 추진제는 압력 지수 값이 0.5인 17.5 mm/sec 이하의 운용조건에서 추진기관에 적용 가능하다. 혼합 믹서 Scale-up 시연소속도 감소, 최대인장강도 감소, 최대인장강도에서의 연신율은 증가하였다. 황색산화철은 내열재/라이너/추진제 사이의 접착력에는 큰 영향을 끼치지 않는다.

Effect of diluent variation on cryopreservation of large yellow croaker Larimichthys crocea

  • The aim of this research was to investigate different factors, including cryoprotective agents (CPAs), diluents, dilution ratios, equilibrium times, freezing rates, and thawing methods to optimize cryopreservation protocols for large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea). The parameters evaluated were sperm motility, sperm activity index (SAI), survival rate, and DNA damage. Different types of CPAs, such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), propylene glycol (PG), ethylene glycol (EG), methanol, and glycerol, were tested for sperm preservation. The highest motility, SAI, and survival rate were observed when EG was used. Different diluents such as Stein's solution, Hank's balanced salt solution, marine fish Ringer's solution, artificial seminal plasma (ASP) of small yellow croaker, and Cortland solution were investigated. The highest post-thaw motility was observed upon using ASP as the diluent. Different concentrations of EG were then mixed with ASP to identify the optimal EG concentration. Experimental results showed that the motility (70.33 ± 1.20%), SAI (5), and survival rate (78.30 ± 0.42%) of post-thaw sperm were optimum when 10% EG and ASP were used as the CPA and diluent of cryopreservation, respectively. Post-thaw sperm motility was high at equilibration times below 150 s and at an optimum dilution ratio of 1:1 (sperm: CPA + diluent) and was not significantly different compared with fresh sperm motility. The freezing rate was found to be slow below -10℃/min. The thawing temperature of 45℃ was identified as ideal. The percentage of tail DNA in post-thaw sperm at 10% EG and ASP was also investigated and was found to have more significant DNA damage than that in fresh sperm but significantly lower damage than that in post-thaw sperm at EG concentrations of 5%, 15%, and 20% (p < 0.05). The cryopreservation protocols obtained in this study will be useful in large yellow croaker hatcheries.
