This study reported a case of hot flashes in a patient after coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection. The patient in this case was hospitalized for eight days and improved after the administration of Korean medicine, mainly Yangkyuksanwha-tang. We evaluated the patient's subjective discomfort daily, and the patient kept a diary of hot flashes every day. After treatment, the degree and frequency of hot flashes were greatly improved and continued two weeks after discharge. In addition, the accompanying hyperhidrosis improved from Grade 2 to Grade 0. This study suggests that Korean medicine might be effective in combating the hot flashes of soyangin-type patients.

Objectives : The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Herbal medicine, extrusion and Hwangryunhaedok-tang Pharmacopuncture therapy for treating Sil-Yol(Excess heat) type acne.Methods : Total of 22 patients with Sil-Yol(Excess heat) type acne were treated with the Herbal medicine(Chungsangbangpoong-tang, Yangkyuksanwha-tang, Hwalhyeolsano-tang, Galgeunhaegi-tang, Daeshihotang) and weekly Hwangryunhaedok-tang Pharmacopuncture & extrusion therpay. By the standardized photography before and after treatment, KASG and survey for patient`s satisfaction, we checked effect of Herbal medicine and Hwangryunhaedok-tang Pharmacopuncture therapy for treating acne.Results : 1. In 22 patients who underwent the Herbal medicine, extrusion and Hwangryunhaedok-tang Pharmacopuncture therapy, there was an significant improvement in KASG. Mean value of KAGS before treatment is 3.59±0.80, mean value of KAGS after treatment is 1.95±65.2. The responses to the survey for satisfaction revealed that 5 patients were very satisfied with their outcomes, 11 patients were satisfied, 5 patients were somewhat satisfied, 1 patient was dissatisfied.Conclusion : In Korean medicine, Herbal medicine and Hwangryunhaedok-tang Pharmacopuncture therpay might be effective method for treating Sil-Yol(Excess heat) type acne.

This case study reports on the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment for menopausal hot flashes in stroke patients. During hospitalization, a female patient with medial medullary infarction was diagnosed with menopausal hot flashes and received treatment with traditional Korean medicine and acupuncture. The assessment was performed by monitoring daily habits to relieve hot flashes. The hot flash index, menopause rating scale (MRS), menopause-specific quality of life (MENQoL) questionnaire, and Kupperman index (KI) were also used. After 28 days of treatment, the hot flash index improved from 27 to 2, MRS improved from 11 to 2, MENQoL improved from 40 to 21, and KI improved from 22 to 6. Thus, this case suggests that Korean medicine treatment may be effective for menopausal hot flashes in stroke patients.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the acute stroke patient who take Yanggyeoksanhwa-tang, and arrange the indication of Yanggyeoksanhwa-tang. Method : We studied hospitalized patients within 4 weeks after their accident who were hospitalized at Kyunghee University Oriental Medical Center, Kyunghee University East-West Neo Medical Center, Kyungwon University Oriental Medical Center, Semyung University Oriental Medical Center from February 2010 to July 2010. We classified and found out the characteristics of acute stroke patient according to herb medicine. Result : The patient who take Yanggyeoksanhwa-tang show meaningful difference for TG, HDL-cholesterole, total lipid, AST, homocysteine, chest burning sensation, and oriental medical diagnosis. Conclusion : The result of this study show that Yanggyeoksanhwa-tang can be applied to acute stroke patient who feels chest burning sensation, and whose oriental medical diagnosis is fever type. Additory evaluations would be needed to better understand the difference between Yanggyeoksanhwa-tang group and other herb medicine group on acute stroke patients.

In order to investigate experimental effects of Yangkyuksanwha-Tang, which is the typical prescription for diseased SOYANGIN, on diabetes rats, the observation and measurement was made on the content of volume of blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid, total protein, electrolyte($K^+$, $Na^+$) in serum, by dosing the cooked Y.S.T. to diabetic rats, induced by streptozotocin and following result was obtained. 1. The volume of blood glucose, in the diabetes rats, was decreased significantly, and remarkable decrease of blood glucose was shown in the Y.S.T. (12.5ml/kg) dosed group, after 4weeks of experiment. 2. The volume of total cholesterol of blood serum was decreased notably, especially remarkable reduce of total cholesterol was shown in the Y.S.T. (12.5ml/kg) dosed group after a week. 3. The volume of triglyceride in the blood serum of diabetic rats, induced by the streptozotocin was decreased after 4 weeks, and remarkable decrease was shown in the Y.S.T. (12.5ml/kg) dosed group after 2 weeks of experiment. 4. The volume of the phospholipid in the diabetes rats, was decreased significantly in the Y.S.T. (12.5ml/kg) dosed group after 2 weeks of experiment. 5. The volume of total protein of diabetes rats, was increased in all group, and the remarkable increase was shown in the Y.S.T. (12.5ml/kg) dosed group after 4 weeks. 6. The volume of the sodium in the Y.S.T. (12.5ml/kg) dosed group, was notable in each Y.S.T. dosed group (1.25ml/kg, 12.5ml/kg) after a week experiment. According to above results, It is expected that Y.S.T. applied to SOYANGIN, can be used for medical treatment of diabetes with effect. But because the effect can be somewhat different depending upon dosage, appropriate operation on clinic is needed, for the best curing effect.
