『식료찬요(食療纂要)』에서 어류(魚類)의 식치적(食治的) 활용에 관한 연구 (A study on the use of fish as food treatment in Singnyochanyo)

  • Objectives : The researcher figured out the kinds of fish that were used as a treatment for various diseases, and based on the result, studied on how to enhance healthy life and facilitate disease treatment with fish-based treatment. Methods : The researcher first extracted prescriptions based on fish from Singnyochanyo and later, analyzed the extracts by main efficacies, ingredients, recipes and intake periods. Results & Conclusions : According to study, Singnyochanyo used snakeheads twice, eels eleven times, crucian carps eight times, gray mullets once, carps twelve times and yellow croakers three times. When it comes to crucian carps, Singnyochanyo utilized them for asthma-related symptoms, stomach-related diseases, diarrhea, dysentery and hemorrhoid. Donguibogam, however, used crucian carps for more specific purposes - dysentery and stomach-related diseases. In Singnyochanyo, gray mullets and yellow croakers were used to treat stomach-related diseases only one to three times. Carps were applied to treat diseases twelve times in total, five of them for pregnancy-related diseases. For pregnant women, it was recommended to make a soup of carps with side ingredients.

Fetal safety of medicinal herbs and food ingredients during pregnancy: Recommendations from traditional Korean medicine based on expert opinions

  • Objectives: This study aimed to establish and provide reliable information for general public, based on expert consensus, on the risks of misuse of medicinal herbs for food and pure food ingredients for the fetus during pregnancy. Methods: A panelist of seven traditional Korean medicine (TKM) gynecologists responded to a questionnaire summarizing the fetal safety literature for twenty-five medicinal herbs for food and pure food ingredients derived from medicated diet (藥膳, Yaksun) recipes during three online Delphi rounds anonymously. Results: Ginkgonis Semen (Ginkgo nut), Illici Veri Fructus (Star anise), lavender, bitter gourd, and parsley were agreed at the level 1 of "Do not consume". These five ingredients were recognized as having significant risks both in the literature evidence and in expert opinion. Rosemary, Citri Unshius Pericarpium, Discoreae Rhizoma, lemongrass, Schisandrae Fructus, Cassiae Semen, Foeniculi Fructus, Mori Fructus, Cinnamomi Cortex, and Astragali Radix were agreed at the level 2 of "consultation with TKM practitioner is required". Conclusion: Based on the consensus of a seven-member expert panel of TKM gynecologists, consumption of Ginkgonis Semen (Ginkgo nut), Illici Veri Fructus (Star anise), lavender, bitter gourd, and parsley should be avoided by pregnant women. For Rosemary, Citri Unshius Pericarpium, Discoreae Rhizoma, lemongrass, Schisandrae Fructus, Cassiae Semen, Foeniculi Fructus, Mori Fructus, Cinnamomi Cortex, and Astragali Radix, the level 2 advisory may be recommended to use with caution and to consult a TKM practitioner for advice on consumption, dose, and duration.

조(속미(粟米)·출미(秫米))를 이용한 식치방(食治方)의 문헌(文獻) 조사 -1300년대에서 1600년대 한국 의서(醫書)를 중심으로- (Literary Investigation of Food-Therapy(食治方) Using Foxtail Millet (Setaria italica L. Beaur) - Korean Medicine Literature in 1300's-1600's -)

  • 1300년대부터 1600년대까지 발간된 10권의 의서 및 식이요법서 문헌에서 조를 이용한 식치방을 조사한 결과 기록 횟수는 총 63회이다. 향약집성방(鄕藥集成方)의 식치 기록은 총 21회로 조사한 문헌 중 횟수가 가장 많았고, 식료찬요(食療纂要)는 두 번째로 식치방 기록은 총 16회이다. 식치의 조리방법별 분류에는 죽(粥) 조리방법이 가장 많았고 탕(湯) 조리방법, 밥(飯) 조리방법, 즙(汁) 조리방법, 환(丸) 조리방법 순으로 기록되었다. 죽과 탕의 조리법이 많은 것은 소화기에 주는 부담이 적고 흡수가 용이하기 때문으로 사료된다. 조와 같이 사용된 식재료는 총백(蔥白), 생강, 계란, 해백, 술, 참새, 수탉간, 시, 붕어, 붉은 팥, 흰 수탉 등이고, 조와 같이 사용된 약재는 인삼(人蔘), 복령(茯笭), 당귀(當歸), 대추(大棗), 맥문동(麥門冬), 백출(白朮), 육계(肉桂), 토사자(免絲子) 등이다. 특히 한국 전통음료로 조를 발효시킨 장수(漿水)를 약 전처리나 법제에 사용하고 약재와 같이 복용하였다. 조를 이용한 식치방의 증상별 분류를 보면 비위(脾胃) 반위(反胃)에 12회, 대소변난(大小便難)에 11회, 곽란에 6회, 허증(虛症) 보익(補益)에 6회 기록되었다. 비위(脾胃) 반위(反胃), 대소변난(大小便難), 곽란, 허증(虛症) 보익(補益) 등의 식치방에 여러 번 기록된 것은 약재가 귀했던 시기에 식치(食治)로 비위(脾胃)를 보(補)하고 대소변(大小便)을 좋게 하여 건강 증진과 질병 예방에 중점을 두었을 것으로 사료된다. 또한 소갈(消渴), 중풍(中風), 산후제질(産後諸疾), 소아제병(小兒諸炳), 기침 해수(咳嗽) 등 증상 치료에도 기록되어 조 식치방은 남녀노소에게 두루 사용되었음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 우리민족의 경험의학이 바탕이 되는 조 식치방을 활용한다면 현대인들에게 좋은 약선 메뉴를 개발할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

약선식품소재의 유산균 증식 효과 (Bifidogenic Effects of Yaksun (functional herbal) Food Materials)

  • 1. 약선식품소재의 물추출물 중 pH 저하효과가 가장 큰 것은 B. breve를 배양하였을 경우 Citrus aurantium (진피), Liriipe platyphylla (맥문동), Platycodon grandiflorum (길경), Schizandra chinensis (오미자)였고, 사람의 장내균총을 배양했을 경우는 Angelica gigas (당귀), Hordeum vulgare (맥아), Liriipe platyphylla (맥문동), Platycodon grandiflorum (길경), schizandra chinensis (오미자) 등이었다. 2. 약선식품소재의 $\beta$-glucosidase 효소활성억제효과는 B. breve를 배양했을 경우 Citrus aurantium(진피), Eugenia caryophyllata (정향), Liriipe platyphylla (맥문동), Platycodon grandiflorum (길경), Schizandra chinensis (오미자)가 90%. 이상의 억제효과를 나타내었고 사람의 장내균총에 대해서는 Eugenia caryophyllata (정향), Liriipe platyphylla (맥문동)가 40% 이상의 억제효과를 나타내었다. 3. $\beta$-Glucuronidase 활성을 억제하는 것으로 나타난 약선식품소재는 사람의 장내균총에 대해서는 Cinnamomum cassia(계지), Gardenia jasminoides(치자), Platycodon grandiflorum (길경) 등이였다. 4. 길경으로부터 in vitro에서 유산균증식효과를 나타내는 compound B를 분리하였으며 이 화합물은 기기분석을 한 결과 sucrose임을 밝혀졌으며, 사람의 장내균총에 대한 효과를 측정한 결과 $\beta$-glucosidase활성은 크게 억제하지 못했지만 $\beta$-glucuronidase 및 tryptophnase활성은 각각 49%, 67%의 억제효과를 나타내었다. 또한 사람의 장내우세균인 B. breve를 증식시키는 효과가 있었다.

  • This research was designed and implemented to evaluate how the composition of yaksuncha can affect the health of individuals suffering from diet-related diseases such as obesity and hyperlipidemia by prescribing Yaksun as a nutritional supplement with daily meals. The yaksunucha was prepared as Koekac, Sansa, Heshouwu and Woolong tea and the tea's effects on serum lipids and oxidative stress were evaluated by clinical procedures. The yaksuncha significantly increased HDL-cholesterol and decrease of LDL-cholesterol concentrations in serum. It also had significant effects on decreasing oxidative stress and homocystein levels. The physical characteristics of the yaksunucha were also examined, showing. Brix, pH and titratable acidity values of 1.4, 5.50 and 0.05% respectively. It is thought that scientific and objective evaluations were completed on the components of the yaksuncha prescription. Thus one can concluded that the components could be applied not only in the form of tea, but also various food. The data derived from this study provides basic information that will aid in the application of oriental medicinal resources to other foods as well as facilitate the study of medicinal herbs within the field of functional food research, which already draws sizable attention worldwide.

강황(薑黃) 계지(桂枝) 복합물이 RAW 264.7 세포에서 항염증 활성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Curcumae longae Rhizoma and Cinnamomi Ramulus Mixture on Anti-inflammatory Activities in Lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 Cells)

  • Objectives : A persistent inflammatory response can cause diseases such as fibrosis, cancer, and allergies. This study aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of Curcumae longae Rhizoma and Cinnamomi Ramulus Mixture (CCM) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. Methods : The total polyphenol and flavonoid contents of CCM were confirmed through an in vitro experiment. Also, radical scavenging activities of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), and Hydroxyl were confirmed. Moreover, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) activity were confirmed. After, CCM (50, 100, and 200 ㎍/mL) were applied to 0.1 ㎍/mL LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. The levels of nitric oxide (NO) and pro-inflammatory cytokines in the supernatant fraction were determined. Also, the expressions of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) pathways were detected using Western blot. Results : As a result of in vitro experiments, there was an excellent antioxidant activity in CCM-treated cells. In addition, in RAW264.7 cells stimulated with LPS, the increased NO level was inhibited in a concentration-dependent manner by the treatment of CCM. In addition, inflammatory cytokines production were significantly inhibited in a concentration-dependent manner in CCM-treated group. CCM treatment significantly decreased the protein expressions of MAPKs. Moreover, the expressions of NF-κBp65 and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) were significantly decreased when 200 mg/kg of CCM was applied, and phospho-inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B-α (p-IκBα) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) were significantly decreased at all concentrations treated with CCM. Conclusion : Our findings show that CCM exhibited excellent antioxidant activity and exhibited superior anti-inflammatory effect through the MAPKs and NF-κB pathways in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages.

  • We are concerned about how to apply the theories of oriental medicine appropriately, which direction should it be taken, and how it should be developed. And it is believed to be essential for the government to make efforts to set a standard and laws to validate the medicinal effects and process of the assessment so that the systematic development can be encouraged, and to prepare guidance for the food development for national health improvement Ihis study was peformed to provide basic data that predict the usefulness of oriental medicinal herbs to remove the dampness through diuresis for excess syndrome obesity with oriental diet therapy cuisine(Yak-Sun). Five oriental medicininal herbs, Coix lachryma-jobi L, Atractylodes lancea DC., Ligusticum wallichii F., Angelica sinensis D., Zingiber officinale R. were collected and made into mixing extracts(OMCE). And we examined the effects of OMCE on body weight serum glucose, insulin and lipid profile improvement in rats fed high fat diets. Sprague-Dawley rae(230-250 g) were randomly divided into five groups : basal diet(normal diet control group, NCG), only high fat diet(High fat control group, HCG), high fat diet and supplemented with 25mg/100g body weight 50mg/100g body weight 75mg/100g body weight by OMCE(HLG, HMG, HHG). These experimental diets were fed for 6 weeks. The OME fed groups decreased more significantly in weight serum glucose insulin and lipids than the high fat control group did. These results imply that the OMCE can be used as a safe and clinically applicable ingredients for diet called Yaksun of excess syndrome obesity in human.
