  • There are many ways to judge whether the input image is adult-image or not. Until now, adult image detection has been examined by the ratio of skin area in full image. In this paper, we propose a method to extract skin region in YCbCr. Skin region shows unique distribution in YCbCr, and we will separate the skin region from background using the distribution. First, we are going to find Eye zone using Eye-Map. Then we will find out the color value for the distribution of skin region using the color of Eye zone. Next, we will find the distribution of the area through the skin region in full-image.

  • Skin detection research is important role in the 3G of mobile phone for video telephony and security system by using face recognition. We propose skin detection algorithm as preprocessing to the face recognition, and use YCbCr color space. In existing skin detection algorithm using CbCr, skin colors that is brightened by camera flash or sunlight at outdoor in images doesn't acknowledged the skin region. In order to detect skin region accuracy into any circumstance, this paper proposes 3-channel skin detection algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a Cascade Classifier face detection method using the Haar-like feature, which is complemented by the Flood Fill algorithm for lossy areas due to illumination and shadow in YCbCr color space extraction. The Cascade Classifier using Haar-like features can generate noise and loss regions due to lighting, shadow, etc. because skin color extraction using existing YCbCr color space in image only uses threshold value. In order to solve this problem, noise is removed by erosion and expansion calculation, and the loss region is estimated by using the Flood Fill algorithm to estimate the loss region. A threshold value of the YCbCr color space was further allowed for the estimated area. For the remaining loss area, the color was filled in as the average value of the additional allowed areas among the areas estimated above. We extracted faces using Haar-like Cascade Classifier. The accuracy of the proposed method is improved by about 4% and the detection rate of the proposed method is improved by about 2% than that of the Haar-like Cascade Classifier by using only the YCbCr color space.

  • This thesis proposes a face detection algorithm using the color and edge informations in color image. The proposed algorithm segments skin color by Cb and Cr in YCbCr coordinates. Then face candidate regions are made after morphological filtering and labeling. For the regions, the Sobel vortical operation and horizontal projection are performed in the Y luminance components. The peak value indicates the eye location. Similarly, the chin location is detected by the Sobel horizontal operation and horizontal projection. The computer simulation shows that the proposed method gains similar detection rates of previous method and prevent facial region from including neck by detection of chin.

  • The correct detection of skin color is an important preliminary process in fields of face detection and human motion analysis. It is generally performed by three steps: transforming the pixel color to a non-RGB color space, dropping the illuminance component of skin color, and classifying the pixels by the skin color distribution model. Skin detection depends on by various factors such as color space, presence of the illumination, skin modeling method. In this paper we propose a 3d skin color model that can segment pixels with several ethnic skin color from images with various illumination condition and complicated backgrounds. This proposed skin color model are formed with each components(Y, Cb, Cr) which transform pixel color to YCbCr color space. In order to segment the skin color of several ethnic groups together, we first create the skin color model of each ethnic group, and then merge the skin color model using its skin color probability. Further, proposed model makes several steps of skin color areas that can help to classify proper skin color areas using small training data.

  • In this study, we propose a method for effectively detecting and recognizing the face in image using RBFNNs pattern classifier and HCbCr-based skin color feature. Skin color detection is computationally rapid and is robust to pattern variation for face detection, however, the objects with similar colors can be mistakenly detected as face. Thus, in order to enhance the accuracy of the skin detection, we take into consideration the combination of the H and CbCr components jointly obtained from both HSI and YCbCr color space. Then, the exact location of the face is found from the candidate region of skin color by detecting the eyes through the Haar-like feature. Finally, the face recognition is performed by using the proposed FCM-based RBFNNs pattern classifier. We show the results as well as computer simulation experiments carried out by using the image database of Cambridge ICPR.

  • In tangible augmented reality (AR) environments, the user interacts with virtual objects by manipulating their physical counterparts, but he or she often encounters awkward situations in which his or her hands are occluded by the augmented virtual objects, which causes great difficulty in figuring out hand positions, and reduces both immersion and ease of interaction. To solve the problem of such hand occlusion, skin color information has been usefully exploited. In this paper, we propose an approach to simple and effective construction of a skin color map which is suitable for hand segmentation and tangible AR interaction. The basic idea used herein is to obtain hand images used in a target AR environment by simple image subtraction and to represent their color information by a convex polygonal map in the YCbCr color space. We experimentally found that the convex polygonal map is more accurate in representing skin color than a conventional rectangular map. After implementing a solution for resolving hand occlusion using the proposed skin color map construction, we showed its usefulness by applying it to virtual design evaluation of digital handheld products in a tangible AR environment.

  • With increasing attention to real-time body detection, active research is being conducted on human body detection based on skin color. Despite this, most existing skin detection methods utilize static skin color models and have detection rates in images, in which colors are distorted. This study proposed a method of detecting the skin region using a fuzzy classification of the gradient map, saturation, and Cb and Cr in the YCbCr space. The proposed method, first, creates a gradient map, followed by a saturation map, CbCR map, fuzzy classification, and skin region binarization in that order. The focus of this method is to rigorously detect human skin regardless of the lighting, race, age, and individual differences, using features other than color. On the other hand, the borders between these features and non-skin regions are unclear. To solve this problem, the membership functions were defined by analyzing the relationship between the gradient, saturation, and color features and generate 108 fuzzy rules. The detection accuracy of the proposed method was 86.35%, which is 2~5% better than the conventional method.
