Physical properties of thermoplastic material for clear aligners (투명 장치의 열가소성 재료의 올바른 이해)

  • Recent technological advance have greatly expanded the application of invisible orthodontic treatment using clear thermoplastic materials. However, the final outcomes using clear aligner system do not achieve the level of final goal frequently, which results in case refinement, midcourse correction, or fixed orthodontic treatment. Therefore, mechanical properties of thermoplastic materials should be considered to improve the quality of outcomes. The purposes of this special article were to evaluate the force and stress depending on the materials, deflection and thickness of thermoplastic materials and to evaluate the mechanical properties of thermoplastic materials after repeated loading. Thickness and amount of deflection rather than products and materials showed the largest effect on force and stress. In all products, at least 159 gf of force was required for more than 1.0 mm deflection or when materials with 1.0 mm thickness were deflected. Orthodontic forces delivered by thermoplastic materials depend on the materials, thickness, amount of activation, and intra-oral condition. Proper thickness of thermoplastic materials and deflection level of tooth movement should be decided for the efficient and physiologic tooth movement.

  • As various loads are applied to a reinforced concrete beam, cracks may occur by the influence of shear and bending moments. These cracks propagate as the applied loads are increased. In addition, the deflection of the reinforced beam is also increased at the same time. Even though it is commonly accepted that the cracking and the deflection of a reinforced concrete beam are very closely related, many studies have not been conducted to provide basic data and to develop the relationship between them. In this study total seventeen specimens subjected to bending were tested with different concrete strength, coverage, amount of steel and de-bonding bars. The effects of these parameters on the relationship between cracking and deflection were carefully checked and analyzed.

  • We have developed the three-dimensional simulation tool for the design of deflection yoke. This tool consists of a modeler, a solver and a post-processor. The modeler easily makes models of Deflection Yoke (DY) and ferrite core (Circle, RAC and RTC) by the parameters and supports several element types (line, surface and quadrilateral). The solver calculates charge density and magnetic field of DY by boundary element method (BEM). We can simply evaluate misconvergence, distortion and inductance of DY in the post-processor, so we apply this simulation tool to 32" rectangular deflection yoke. We can conveniently implement the efficient development of DY in the future.

  • The deflection of RC half slabs with rids was much smaller than that of the conventional RC half slabs. In this study, the deflection of RC half slabs with rids was calculated by using a FE method and a elastic analysis. The deflections predicted by the FE method and the elastic analysis predicted the deflection measured by tested slabs with reasonable agreement.

  • In case of calculation of an immediate deflection according to EC2, a curvature and average curvature are calculated by reflecting tension stiffening effect. In this study, tension stiffening effects according to MC90 and EC2 were considered, and an immediate deflection was calculated. And also, it was compared to results in KCI provision and experimental data. In results, it has difference around 8~15% with respect to tension stiffening effect, but all of them predict well for the load-deflection behavior after yielding state.

  • The surface,generated by end milling operation, is deteriorated by tool runout,vibration,friction,tool deflection, etc. In many source,deflection of tool affects to surfave accuracy. To develop a surface accracy model,method for the prediction of the topography of machined surfaces has been developed based on models of machine tool kinematics and cutting tool geometry. This model accounts for not only the ideal geometrical surface, but also the deflection of tool resulted in cutting force. For the more accurate prediction of cutting force,flexible end mill model is used to simulate cutting process. Compute simu;ation have shown the feasibility of the surface generation system.

  • In the metal cutting, machining accuracies had affected by tool deflection that had been generated by acting cutting force on the cutting edges. Generally, the CAD/CAM and a solid modeler had used for the simulation of cutting process only. Some NC codes for metal cutting have been generated by these simulation results. But, machining errors that had generated by the tool deflection has not solved using these system. In this study, determination algorithm for integration zone has been studied using the commercial solid modeler. The tool deflection error has calculated by the integration zone between the small chip and the cutting edges.

  • In this study, a large deflection analysis of a plane frame composed of a thin-walled tube in investigated. When bent, a thin-walled tube is usually controlled by local buckling and subsequent bending collapse of the section. So load resistance reaches the yield level in a thin-walled rectangular tube. This relationship can be divided into three regimes : elastic, post-buckling and crippling. In this paper, this relationship is theoretically presented to be capable of describing nonlinearities and a stiffness matrix is derived by introducing a compound beam-spring element. A numerical analysis uses a constant incremental energy method and the solution is obtained by modifying stiffness matrix at elastic/inelastic stage. This analytical results, load-deflection paths show a good agreement with the test results.

  • This study is aimed to measure the deflection of loaded table on machine tool. The deflection rate is measured then the table is in a stationary state and is moved. In conclusion we have found that the more load increases, the more the table deflections. Also, we have found that the deflection rate increases in accordance with the speed of movement. Therefore, we have concluded that inspection of machine tool should be done considering the weight of load and the speed of movement. However, since the condition of accuracy test for domestic brand of machine tool is defined as unloaded case, measures should be explored only for loaded case.

  • In order to automate straightening process of deflected beams an adaptive three-point bending controller is studies which estimates and controls springback of beams under three-point bending. An analytical load-deflection model for three-point bending of beams with circular cross sections is derived nondimensionally. In spite of variation of material and process parameters this model can be applied to springback estimation by measuring real-time values of reactive load and deflection of the beam. A hydraulic punch stroke controller is designed to take real-time controls of the permanent deflection of the beam. The validity of the proposed system is verified through experiments.
