ROTATIONAL HYPERSURFACES CONSTRUCTED BY DOUBLE ROTATION IN FIVE DIMENSIONAL EUCLIDEAN SPACE 𝔼5

  • We introduce the rotational hypersurface x = x(u, v, s, t) constructed by double rotation in five dimensional Euclidean space 𝔼5. We reveal the first and the second fundamental form matrices, Gauss map, shape operator matrix of x. Additionally, defining the i-th curvatures of any hypersurface via Cayley-Hamilton theorem, we compute the curvatures of the rotational hypersurface x. We give some relations of the mean and Gauss-Kronecker curvatures of x. In addition, we reveal Δx=𝓐x, where 𝓐 is the 5 × 5 matrix in 𝔼5.

  • 본 장에서는 H.26L 비디오 코덱에 적용되는 움직임 보상 기법(motion compensation) 및 B 픽쳐(Bi-predictive picture) 에 대해 다루기로 한다. 먼저 H.26L 비디오 코덱이 H.263 또는 MPEG-4 Part 2와 같은 종래 비디오 코덱들과 움직임 보상 관점에서 다른 점을 살펴보면, 복수개의 레퍼런스 픽쳐(multiple reference picture) 로부터 움직임 추정 (motion estimation) 밀 움직임 보상을 수행하고, 16x16 매크로 블록 크기부터 16x8, 8x16, 8x8블록 크기에서 매크로 블록 모드 타입이 결정되고 8x8 모드는 다시 8x4, 4x8, 4x4 단위에서 서브 모드 타입이 결정된다. 따라서 한 개의 매크로블록은 최대 16개의 모션벡터를 깆을 수 있다. 또한 복수개의 레퍼런스 픽쳐와 다양한 블록 타입을 적용함에 따라 모션벡터 예측(PMV: prediction of motion vector) 은 현재 블록과 이웃하는 블록들 사이의 레퍼런스 픽쳐 인덱스 비교 및 현재 블록 타입이 16x8또는 8x16 일 때 방향성 예측을 허용하는 새로운 기법들이 소개되어 있다. 그리고 코딩 효율을 높이기 위한 방법으로서 1/4 pel 단위의 움직임 보상을 하여 블록의 예측 정확도를 높이도록 하고 있다. 한편, H.26L에서의 B 픽쳐는 종래 비디오 코덱에 비해 확장된 정의를 갖고 있다. 예를 들어, 종래의 비디오 코덱에서는 B 픽쳐가 시간 스케일러빌러티(temporal scalability)에 사용됨에 따라 레퍼런스 픽쳐로서 사용될 수 없지만, H.26L은 B 픽쳐가 레퍼런스 픽쳐로서 사용되는 것을 허용하고 있다. 또한 종래의 B 픽쳐가 양방향에서 움직임 보상을 한 것과 달리 H.26L은 동일 방향에 존재하는 두개의 레퍼런스 픽쳐에서도 움직임 보상을 허용한다.

Ectopic expression of Bcl-2 or Bcl-xL suppresses p-fluorophenylalanine-induced apoptosis through blocking mitochondria-dependent caspase cascade in human Jurkat T cells (Jurkat T 세포에 있어서 ρ-fluorophenylalanine에 의해 유도되는 세포자살의 Bcl-2 및 Bcl-xL에 의한 저해 기전)

  • $\rho$-Fluorophenylalanine (FPA), a phenylalanine analog, is able to induce apoptotic cell death of human acute leukemia Jurkat T cells. To better understand the mechanism by which FPA induces apoptotic cell death, the effect of ectopic expression of antiapoptotic proteins, Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL, on FPA-induced apoptosis was investigated by employing lurkat T cells transfected with Bcl-2 gene (JT/Bcl-2) or Bcl-xL gene (1/Bcl-xL) and Jurkat T cells transfected with vector (JT/Neo or J/Neo). When Jurkat T cells, JT/Neo or J/Neo, were exposed to FPA at concentrations ranging from 0.63 to 5.0 mM, the cell viability determined by MTT assay declined in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, apoptotic DNA fragmentation along with several apoptotic events such as caspase-8 activation, Bid cleavage, mitochondrial cytochrome c release, caspase-9 activation, caspase-3 activation, and degradation of PARP was induced. However, the FPA-induced cytotoxic effect, activation of caspase-8, and cleavage of Bid were significantly abrogated by ectopic expression of Bcl-2 or Bcl-xL. At the same time, there was marked reduction in the level of cytochrome c release from mitorhondria, caspase-9 activation, caspase-3 activation, and degradation of PARP. These results indicate that caspase-8 activation, Bid cleavage, and mitochondrial cytochrome c release with subsequent activation of the caspase cascade are negatively regulated by Bcl-2 or Bcl-xL, and are thus required for FPA-induced apoptosis in Jurkat T cells

Implementation of Fingerprint Recognition System Based on the Embedded LINUX

  • In this paper, we have designed a Fingerprint Recognition System based on the Embedded LINUX. The fingerprint is captured using the AS-S2 semiconductor sensor. To extract a feature vector we transform the image of the fingerprint into a column vector. The image is row-wise filtered with the low-pass filter of the Haar wavelet. The feature vectors of the different fingerprints are compared by computing with the probabilistic neural network the distance between the target feature vector and the stored feature vectors in advance. The system implemented consists of a server PC based on the LINUX and a client based on the Embedded LINUX. The client is a Tynux box-x board using a PXA-255 CPU. The algorithm is simple and fast in computing and comparing the fingerprints.

  • We propose a new motion vector skip coding method for better motion compensation-based coding of inter-slices in H.264/AVC. It is to best utilize the spatial correlation between motion vectors of adjacent 4x4 blocks by effective motion vector coding. For this purpose, we introduce a new macroblock type of Predictive (P) slice into those of the H.264/AVC, so that it can lead to reduction in the coding bits required for encoding motion information. Experimental results with several well-known test video sequences verify that better performance of the proposed method is obtained.

  • A generalized n-dimensional Riemannian manifold $X_n$ on which the differential geometric structure is imposed by the unified field tensor $^*g^{{\lambda}{\nu}}$, satisfying certain conditions, through the $^*g$-ME-connection which is both Einstein's equation and of the form(3.1) is called $^*g$-ME-manifold and we denote it by $^*g-MEX_n$. In this paper, we prove a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of $^*g$-ME-connection and derive a surveyable tensorial representation of the $^*g$-ME-connection and the $^*g$-ME-vector in $^*g-MEX_n$.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of finding the hypersurface Mn in the Euclidean (n + 1)-space ℝn+1 that satisfies an equation of mean curvature type, called singular minimal hypersurface equation. Such an equation physically characterizes the surfaces in the upper half-space ℝ+3 (u) with lowest gravity center, for a fixed unit vector u ∈ ℝ3. We first state that a singular minimal cylinder Mn in ℝn+1 is either a hyperplane or a α-catenary cylinder. It is also shown that this result remains true when Mn is a translation hypersurface and u is a horizantal vector. As a further application, we prove that a singular minimal translation graph in ℝ3 of the form z = f(x) + g(y + cx), c ∈ ℝ - {0}, with respect to a certain horizantal vector u is either a plane or a α-catenary cylinder.

  • 현대 의학에서 의료 영상은 수많은 영상처리 의료기기의 핵심이다. PACS(Picture Archiving Communication System)를 통해 관리되는 의료 영상 자료들은 요청에 따라 저장, 검색 및 전송을 수행하여 신속한 의료 서비스를 가능하게 한다. 그러나 만약에 관리자의 실수로 의료 영상 데이터가 바뀐다면 이는 사용자로 하여금 불편함과 낮은 신뢰성을 야기한다. 그리하여 본 논문에서는 서포트 벡터 머신 기반의 HOG(Histogram of Oriented Gradients) 특징 벡터를 이용하여 X-ray와 MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) 사진을 분류하고 의료 영상 분류의 가능성을 제시하는 것을 목표로 한다.

  • We consider a graphical method for visualizing the strictly monotonic transformation of t(y) so that the regression function E(t(y)$\mid$x) is linear in the predictor vector x. Cook and Weisberg (1994) proposed an inverse response plot which relies on the results of Li & Duan (1989) to obtain consistent estimates. Based on the recursive addition of the results from the two dimensional plots, we propose a new procedure which can be used when the consistency result is in doubt.
