Li2O.Al2O3.2SiO2의 조성을 갖는 유리에서 $\beta$-eucryptite의 핵생성 및 결정성장 (Nucleation and Crystal Growth of $\beta$-eucryptite in a Glass of the Molecular Composition Li2O.Al2O3.2SiO2)

  • Nucleation and crystallization of $\beta$-eucryptite in a glass of molecular percentage composition Li2O.Al2O3.2SiO2 are studied. The glasses are made by quenching of the melts from 143$0^{\circ}C$ to room temperature. Heat-treatment for nucleation and crystal growth are caried out at various temperature in the range between 50$0^{\circ}C$ and 80$0^{\circ}C$ with different duration of time. The amounts of crystallization are estimated by the method of x-ray powder diffraction. As the results a time-temperature-transformation relation for crystallization is derived. The maximum rate of crystallization is observed at about 75$0^{\circ}C$ from the T-T-T-curve while the crystallization temperature is detected at 67$0^{\circ}C$ by DTA measurement. The crystallization temperature moved to 62$0^{\circ}C$ by adding 5 weight percents of TiO2 and it moved to 78$0^{\circ}C$ by adding 2 weight percents of V2O5. The crystallization temperature moved to 62$0^{\circ}C$ by adding 5 weight percent of TiO2 it moved to 78$0^{\circ}C$ by adding 2 weight percents of V2O5 The activation energy for crystallization from the pure glass is calculated as 68 Kcal/mol and it varied to 53 Kcal/mol and 110Kcal/mol when 5 weight percents of TiO2 and weight percents of V2O5 are added respectively.

SnO2-TiO2-V2O5계의 노랑안료 합성 (Synthesis of SnO2-TiO2-V2O5 System Yellow Pigment)

  • The research was performed to find out the optimum firing condition for the $SnO_2-TiO_2-V_2O_5$ system yellow pigment. The pigment based on $SnO_2-V_2O_5$ system showed very intense yellow color and it was used widely in ceramics industry. Synthesized pigment, with partial substitutions of $SnO_2\;by\;TiO_2$, was fired at $1300{^{\circ}C}$ soaking 1h and it showed bright yellow color. $SnO_2-TiO_2-V_2O_5$ system was very more intensive changes in yellow color by colorimetric value $b^*$ than $SnO_2-V_2O_5$ system. Synthesized yellow pigments were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR, and UV-vis spectroscopy. The best composition for yellow pigment was 93:7:0.5(mole%) for $SnO_2-V_2O_5-TiO_2$. The measurement of CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ of pigment was $L^*(78.82),\;a^*(-4.88)\;and\;b^*$(59.25).

  • This study was taken to observe the changes of the residual stress in the alloy and to measure 3 dimensional distortions of the long span ceramo-metal bridge. The materials used in this study were Pors-on 4 (Pd-Ag alloy), and Ceramco and Vita VMK 68 powders. The residual stress of the alloy was measured on the six specimens (dia. 8m/m) by the X-ray diffraction stress analyzer according to the kind of ceramic powder and different measuring stages. And, for the measurement of the distortions, fifteen specimens of the anterior 8-unit ceramo-metal brige were fabricated and subjected to the 3-D coordinate measuring machine. Variables included the 2 kinds of a ceramic powder and the presence or absence of a splint bar at the cast metal framework. The measuring stages in both were after casting, after degassing and after glazing. The following conclusions were obtained : 1. The residual stress of the alloy showed increasing tendency for the tension by the ceramic fusing, but there was not significance. 2. The tendency of the distortions in the cast metal frameworks were decrease of the width, the anterior displacement and sagging. 3. The amount of the distortions at the degassing stage were greater than that at the ceramic fusing stage. 4. The splint bar was effective to control the distortion only at ceramic fusing stage. 5. The sagging distortion in the Ceramco firing were even through all measuring stages, but in the Vita firing, pronounced at degassing stage.

Prevalence of and Factors Associated with Osteoporosis among Korean Cancer Survivors: A Cross-Sectional Analysis of the Fourth and Fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys

  • Background: Identifying and managing osteoporosis among cancer survivors is an important issue, yet little is known about the bone health of cancer survivors in Korea. This study was designed to measure the prevalence of osteoporosis and to assess related factors among Korean cancer survivors. Materials and Methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional analysis. Data were obtained from dual energy X-ray absorptiometry measurement of the lumbar vertebrae and femoral neck, and from standardized questionnaires among 556 cancer survivors and 17,623 non-cancer controls who participated in the Fourth and Fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (2008-2011). We calculated adjusted proportions of osteoporosis in non-cancer controls vs. cancer survivors, and we performed multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results: The prevalence of osteoporosis among cancer survivors was significant higher than that of the non-cancer controls after adjusting for related factors. Furthermore, osteoporosis among cancer survivors was higher in elderly subjects (60-69 years : adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 3.04, 95% CI : 1.16-8.00, ${\geq}70$ years : aOR 6.60, 95% CI 2.20-19.79), in female cancer survivors (aOR: 7.03, 95% CI: 1.88-26.28), and in a group with lower monthly income (aOR: 3.38, 95% CI: 1.31-8.71). In male cancer survivors, underweight and lower calcium intake were risk factors. Conclusions: These data suggest that the osteoporosis among cancer survivors varies according to non-oncologic and oncologic factors. Effective screening should be applied, and a sufficient and comprehensive management should be matched to individual cancer survivors early after cancer treatment.

건강진단상 여성골밀도 측정의 통계학적 관찰 (Statistical Observation for Measurement of Bone Mineral Density of the Spine in Korean Women Screening in a Health Clinic)

  • During the period from January to September 1995, 1.010 Women(premenopausal 466 cases and postmenopausal 544 cases) of employees and family member were observed for bone mineral density of lumbar spine using Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry(DEXA) at Medical Department of Korea Life Insurance Co. Ltd. Results obtained were as follows: 1) In premenopausal women 466 cases, the ratio of decreased bone mineral density of lumbar spine according to age groups shows 3rd decade were 5 cases(9.80%) among 51 cases, 4th decade were 31 cases(8.68%) among 357 cases, and 5th decade were 10 cases(17.24%) among 58 cases. 2) In postmenopausal women 544 cases, the ratio of decreased bone mineral density of lumbar spine according to age groups shows 3rd decade were 2 cases(66.67%) among 3 cases, 4th decade were 28 cases(31.11%) among 90 cases, 5th decade were 168 cases(48.70%) among 345 cases, 6th decade were 73 cases(73.0%) among 100 cases, and 7th decade were 4 cases(66.67%) among 6 cases. 3) Bone mineral density begins to decrease with age as early as the 4th decade, even in the premenopausal state. In the 4th decade, premenopausal women exhibit an average 8.68% decrease in bone density. Postmenopausal women in this same age group, however, demonstrate an average bone density decrease of 31.11%.

  • Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a functional material with interesting optical and electrical properties, a wide band gap (more than 3.3 eV), a high transmittance in the visible light region, piezoelectric properties, and a high n-type conductivity. This material has been investigated for use in many applications, such as transparent electrodes, blue light-emitting diodes, and ultra-violet detector. ZnO films grown under low oxygen pressure by thin film deposition methods show low resistivity and large free electron concentration. Therefore, reducing the background carrier concentration in ZnO films is one of the major challenges ahead of realizing high-performance ZnO-based optoelectronic devices. In this study, we deposited ZnO thin films on sapphire substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) with employing an oxygen plasma source to decrease the background free-electron concentration and enhance the crystalline quality. Then, the substrate temperature was varied between 200 'C to 900 'C The vacuum chamber was initially evacuated to a pressure of $10^{-6}$ Torr, and then a pure $O_2$ gas was introduced into the chamber and the pressure during deposition was maintained at $10^{-2}$ Torr. Crystallinity and orientation of ZnO films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The film surface was analyzed with atomic force microscope (AFM). And electrical properties were measured at room temperature by Hall measurement.

키토산/Bombyx mori 견 피브로인 블렌드 필름의 구조와 특성 (Structure and Characteristic of Chitosan/Bombyx mori Silk Fibroin Blend Filems)

  • 생체재료로 이용하기 위하여 키토산을 기질로 하여 Bembyx mori로부터 추출한 견 피브로인을 블렌드한 필름에 대한 구조와 특성을 X선 회절분석, 열분석, 적외선 분광분석, 전자현미경 관찰, 접촉각 측정, 흡수율 측정으로 조사하였다. $-\~30wt\%$ 피브로인을 포함하는 블렌드 필름은 리튬이온을 포함하는 초산수용액으로 제조되었다. 키토산/피브로인 블렌드 필름은 키토산의 아미노기와 피브로인의 아미드 카보닐기 사이의 수소결합과 같은 분자간 상호작용의 형성에 의해 결정성이 감소되었다. 피브로인의 비율이 증가할수록 키토산의 무수혈 견정상은 소실되었고, 수화형 결정상은 감소되었으며, 퍼브로인의 P형 결정이 형성되어 혼재된 결정구조를 이루었다. 표면 친수성과 수분 흡수성은 피브로인의 비율이 클수록 증가되었으며, 20 $wt\%$, 이상에서 수화젤 상의 필름을 형성하였다. 전자현미경에 의한 블렌드 필름의 표면과 단면은 균일한 상을 나타내었다.

토코페롤을 함유하는 생분해성 폴리($\varepsilon$-카프로락톤) 마이크로캡슐의 제조 및 방출 특성 (Preparation and Release Characterization of Biodegradable Poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) Microcapsules Containing Tocopherol)

  • 토코페롤을 함유하는 폴리($\varepsilon$-카프로락톤)(PCL) 마이크로캡슐은 액중건조법에 의하여 제조하였고, 제조 조건에 따른 마이크로캡슐의 특성과 PCL 필름을 사용하여 PCL의 분해거동을 측정하였다 제조된 마이크로캡슐의 크기 및 형태와 구조적 특성은 각각 SEM과 XRD를 이용하여 관찰하였다. 또한, 접촉각 측정을 통하여 심물질의 농도에 따른 마이크로캡슐의 표면자유에너지를 측정하였다. 실험결과, 마이크로캡슐은 유화제로 폴리(비닐 알코올)을 사용한 경우 안정된 구형의 마이크로캡슐이 형성되었고, 마이크로캡슐의 표면자유에너지와 PCL의 결정성은 감소하고, PCL 필름은 악 21일 후 분해가 시작되었다. 토코페롤의 방출특성은 UV/vis.에 의하여 측정하였으며, 마이크로캡슐의 방출속도는 교반속도의 증가와 함께 증가하였다. 이는 교반속도의 증가와 함께 감소된 마이크로캡슐 입자 크기에 의한 방출용액과 마이크로캡슐 사이의 계면의 증가에 의한 것으로 판단된다.

치과위생사 직업인식과 직무역량 강화방안 (Dental hygienist's job recognition and vocational competency reinforcement)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze the qualities and problems to be solved to strengthen the vocational competency of dental hygienists and to identify the work to be institutionally established. Methods: From April 1 to May 30, 2019, a total of 325 people participated (152 registered dental hygienists: RDH, 173 students of dental hygiene: SDH) in this study. The survey items were as follows: "job awareness" (6 items), "problem to be solved to strengthen vocational competency" (5 items), "qualities to be equipped to strengthen"competency" (9 items), and "practical work to be institutionally established" (4 items). Results: RDH and SDH had the highest perception of professionalism (3.68, 3.99 points), and low remuneration against work (4.21, 4.18 points) was perceived as the most important problem to be solved. The qualities for competency reinforcement showed the highest results in expertise knowledge (4.68, 4.64 points) and vocation for job (3.76, 4.09 points). Practical work to be established institutionally appeared as follows: X-ray film reading, dental hygiene diagnosis, periodontal pocket measurement, and periodontal pockets (<6 mm) treatment. Conclusions: This study is expected to be actively used to strengthen the vocational competency among dental hygienists, construct work autonomy, and rationalize and legalize practical work.

Artificial and Biological Particles in the Springtime Atmosphere

  • This study focused on a comprehensive and detailed interpretation for the springtime air quality influenced by both artificial (particulate matter (PM) and asbestos) and biological (pollen) sources in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. An intensive measurement of PM was conducted at four characteristic sites (i.e., a heavy traffic area, a residential area, an industrial area, and a desolate area) in the Fukuoka Prefecture during spring of 2007. Analysis of major ionic species in $PM_{2.5}$ was performed by an Ion Chromatography, and asbestos and pollen were identified by Scanning Electron Microscopy with an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). $PM_{2.5}$ concentration ($65.3{\mu}gm^{-3}$) measured in an industrial area (site C) was extraordinarily high compared to those monitored in other areas; it greatly exceeded the Japan's $PM_{2.5}$ criteria (a daily average of $35{\mu}gm^{-3}$). NOAA's HYSPLIT dispersion model suggests that this high level of $PM_{2.5}$ monitored at site C is unlikely to affect the Asian continent. The ambient concentrations of $PM_{2.5}$-related anions ($NH_4{^+}$, $NO_3{^-}$, and $SO_4{^{2-}}$) and their relative contributions to $PM_{2.5}$ were also investigated in four study areas. The concentrations of these major water-soluble ions exhibit not only strong spatial dependence but also different ratios to each other. Asbestos fiber (crocidolite and amosite) concentration values changed in the range of 2.5 to 14.4 f per liter of air. The number of pollen grains showed that Cedar ranked higher in concentration than other types of pollen, with the maximum concentration at site A.
