정상 성인의 좌심실 벽두께와 내강 크기에 대한 심초음파영상과 전산화단층영상의 비교 (Comparison of Echocardiography and Computed Tomography on Cardiac Wall Thickness and Internal Dimension Size of Left Ventricle in Normal Adults)

  • The purpose of this study was evaluated the relationship between echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography in normal adults by visual assessment, and evaluated the effective doses of cardiac computed tomography. The subjects were 100 normal patients who visited two general hospitals in Chungnam, from January 1 to May 30, 2018. We obtained images by using these modalities and evaluated the wall thickness and internal dimension of the Left Ventricle with visual assessment. To evaluate the appropriateness of the visual evaluation, two evaluators who were trained for one week were measured and the agreement between the evaluators were verified by statistical analysis. The effective doses of computed tomography were evaluated using the dose length product. As a result, there was a high correlation between the two modalities. The agreement between the two visual evaluator were also highly agreed. The mean X-ray dose of the subjects was $11.1{\pm}3.1mSv$. Although the purpose of imaging is somewhat different in the clinical setting, echocardiography could achieve the same results as radiation-invasive computed tomography. It is thought that utilization will become even larger.

  • To understand the complex phenomena performed in steam explosion, the fast and global measurement of the steam distribution is imperative for this extremely rapid transient stimulation of the bubble breakup and coalescence due to turbulent eddies and shock waves. TROI, the experimental facility requests more robust sensor system to meet this requirement. In Europe, researchers are prefer a X-ray method but this method is very expensive and has limited measurement range. There is an alternative technology such as ECT. Because of TROI's geometry, however, we need axial tomography method. This paper reviews image reconstruction algorethms for axial tomography, including Tikhonov regularization and iterative Tikhonov regularization. Axial tomography method is examined by simulation and experiment for typical permittivity distributions. Future works in axial tomography technology is discussed.

CT의 선량 감소를 위한 sinogram 보간 기법 (A Method for Sinogram Interpolation for Reducing X-ray Dose)

  • 본 논문에서는 전산화 단층촬영 시 스캔 시간의 단축 및 환자의 X-Ray 피폭량을 줄이기 위한 방법으로 샘플링 빈도를 줄이고 적은 수의 view를 이용하여 단면 영상을 재구성하는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 부족한 view로 인해 단면 영상에 발생하는 방사형의 직선형 왜곡(streak artifact) 를 억제하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 sinogram 보간기법을 적용하였다. 인접 view간 영상 특성(밝기, 그라디언트, 픽셀거리)을 기반으로 sinogram 픽셀 간의 매칭을 수행하고 그 결과를 기반으로 변화패턴을 추적하여 sinogram을 보간하도록 하였다. Numerical 팬텀과 자체 제작된 팬텀을 이용하여 제안된 기법을 검증하였다. 선형 보간 기법에 비해 재구성된 단면영상의 디테일을 유지하면서 왜곡이 감소하는 것이 관찰되었으며, PSNR면에서 최대 5%의 향상이 있는 것을 확인하였다.

Improvement of Pneumonia in a Patient with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Treated with Herbal Medicine after Cessation of Antibiotics - a Case Report

  • A 73-year-old non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patient admitted due to cough, sputum, and dyspnea, aggravated a week ago. She was diagnosed as pneumonia based on the assessment of inflammation markers, chest X-ray and sputum culture. Computed tomography (CT) scan was conducted to exclude malignant tumor metastasis. At the initiation of treatment, considering underlying disease and inflammation marker level, herbal medicine and antibiotics were concurrently used and antibiotics had been discontinued after 10days. Using the monotherapy of herbal medicine in the next 6 days, chest X-ray showed remarkably decreased infiltration in right middle lung and right lower lung. This case represented additional improvement of chest X-ray when treated only with herb medicine after termination of antibiotic therapy and demonstrated the possibility of applying herbal medicine in patients with limited use of antibiotics.

  • This article reviews the development of flat-panel detectors for digital radiography based on amorphous materials, Important design parameters and developments are described for the two main components of flat-panel detectors: the X-ray converter and the readout pixel array. This article also introduces the advanced development concepts of new detectors. In addition, the cascaded linear systems method is reviewed because it is a very powerful tool for improving the design and assessment of X-ray imaging detector systems.

  • X-ray CT(Computed Tomography) has been a good modality for non-invasive diagnosis and recently, Conventional CT has been replaced rapidly with Spiral CT in recent. In X-ray CT, spiral scanning has various advantages such as better image quality, reduced scan time (in a single breath-hold), a lower x-ray dose. But, it requires very fast and high performance image processing system to reconstruct slice images from spiral scanning. This paper describes the fast image reconstruction techniques with filtered back projection from the viewpoints of fast algorithm as well as hardware implementation for real-time imaging.

CT실에서 무연보드 차폐체의 X선 차폐능력 평가 (Evaluation of the X-ray Shielding Ability of Lead Free Board Shielding in the CT Room)

  • This study compared the X-ray shielding abilities of the shields using Computed Radiography(CR) System after manufacturing a lead-free boards using gypsum and BaSO4, an eco-friendly X-ray shielding material. Total six lead-free boards were manufactured with BaSO4 concentrations of 25 %, 50 % and thickness of 10 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm respectively, and additional thickness of 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm leads were prepared. In the experiment, Nine shields were placed on the Image Plate and placed in a Computed Tomography(CT) Room where CT scans were performed for 2 weeks. After that, the X-ray image of the shields were obtained through CR Reader, and Pixel Value(PV) were measured to evaluated the X-ray shielding abilities of the lead-free shields. The criterion for evaluating the shields was determined by comparing PV of lead-free board to that of the 1.5 mm thickness lead used in the CT rooms. As a result of the experiment, the PV of the lead-free boards within 25 % of the BaSO4 concentration and within 10 mm of the thickness were not enough to be used as X-ray shields in the CT Room because they did not reach the PV of the 1.5 mm thickness lead. BaSO4 concentration of 50 % at 20 mm thickness showed PV of 1.5 mm lead thickness or more indicating that it has an X-ray shielding ability to replace lead in the CT room

다공성 멤브레인의 표면 개질에 따른 구조 및 성능 특성에 대한 실험 연구 (Experimental Study on Structural and Functional Characteristics of Surface-Modified Porous Membrane)

  • With the advances in recent nanotechnology, mass transport phenomena have been receiving large attention both in academic researches and industrial applications. Nonetheless, it is not clearly determined which parameters are dominant at nanoscale mass transport. Especially, membrane is a kind of technology that use a selective separation to secure fresh water. The development of great separation membrane and membrane-based separation system is an important way to solve existing water resource problems. In this study, glass fiber-based membranes which are treated by graphene oxide (GO), poly-styrene sulfonate (GOP) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (GPS) were fabricated. Mass transport parameters were investigated in terms of material-specific and structure-specific dominance. The 3D structural information of GO, GOP, and GPS was obtained by using synchrotron X-ray nano tomography. In addition, electrostatic characteristic and water absorption rate of the membranes were investigated. As a result, we calculated internal structural information using Tomadakis-Sotrichos model, and we found that manipulation of surface characteristics can improve spacer arm effect, which means enhancement of water permeability by control length of ligand and surface charge functionality of the membrane.

의료영상 분석을 위한 CUDA 기반의 고속 DRR 생성 기법 (CUDA-based Fast DRR Generation for Analysis of Medical Images)

  • A pose estimation process from medical images is calculating locations and orientations of objects obtained from Computed Tomography (CT) volume data utilizing X-ray images from two directions. In this process, digitally reconstructed radiograph (DRR) images of spatially transformed objects are generated and compared to X-ray images repeatedly until reasonable transformation matrices of the objects are found. The DRR generation and image comparison take majority of the total time for this pose estimation. In this paper, a fast DRR generation technique based on GPU parallel computing is introduced. A volume ray-casting algorithm is explained with brief vector operations and a parallelization technique of the algorithm using Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) is discussed. This paper also presents the implementation results and time measurements comparing to those from pure-CPU implementation and open source toolkit.

  • 경엑스선은 물체의 내부구조 관찰에 유용하고 의료 및 산업분야에 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 전산화단층촬영기법은 수백장의 투영영상을 이용하여 재구성함으로써 물체의 2차원 단면 영상을 얻을 수 있다. 단면 영상의 품질은 투영영상에 크게 의존한다. 투영영상을 얻는 검출기의 픽셀에 따라 링 아티팩트가 나타난다. 본 연구는 visual C++기반으로 한 원형 팬텀에서 검출기의 검출 에러에 따른 링 아티팩트 비를 조사하였다. 평행빔 및 부채살빔에서 링 아티팩트 비는 검출기의 검출 에러에 비례하여 나타났고, 회전 중심에 가까울수록 링 아티팩트는 강하게 나타났다. 전산화단층촬영의 단면 영상에서 링 아티팩트를 줄이기 위해서는 영상재구성 이전에 검출기의 보정이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.
