Al 합금 컨트롤 암의 제조 공정 비교 연구 (Processing Comparison for Fabrication of Al Control Arm)

  • The application of Al parts in passenger car has been increasing for the last decade, which gives many advantages such as better fuel efficiency, driving performance and safety. Control arm is one of the most preferably substituted parts from steel into Al alloys among numerous automotive parts. Currently, both wrought and cast Al alloys can find the application for control arm in passenger car. The balance between performance and cost determines a material as well as a fabrication process for a particular part model. In the present study, comparison among various processing techniques has been carried out to build up a data base for Al control arm fabrication.

  • This paper presents a new way for fabricating sandwich plates with tetrahedral truss cores. The tetrahedral truss cores are manufactured through metal expanding and bending process and then brazed with solid face sheets. The properties of sandwich plates with the tetrahedral truss cores composed of a wrought steel SS41 under compression and shear loading have been investigated. Good agreement is observed between the measured and predicted peak strengths. Comparisons with normalized compressive strength for other cellular metals have indicated that the tetrahedral truss structures outperform aluminum open cell forms and woven core sandwich plates.

Advanced Powder Processing Techniques of Ti Alloy Powders for Medical and Aerospace Applications

  • In this paper, two kinds of advanced powder processing techniques Metal Injection Molding (MIM) and Direct Laser Forming (DLF) are introduced to fabricate complex shaped Ti alloy parts which are widely used for medical and aerospace applications. The MIM process is used to strengthen Ti-6Al-4V alloy compacts by addition of fine Mo, Fe or Cr powders. Enhanced tensile strength of 1030 MPa with 15.1% elongation was obtained by an addition of 4 mass%Cr because of the microstructural modification and also the solution strengthening in beta phase. However, their fatigue strength was lower compared to wrought materials, but was improved by HIP. Subsequently, the effect of feeding layer height (FLH) on the characteristics of the DLF compacts was investigated. In the case of 100 ${\mu}m$ FLH, surface roughness was improved and nearly full density (99.8%) was obtained. Also, tensile strength of 1080 MPa was obtained, which is higher than the ASTM value.

  • Mg alloys have drawn a huge attention in the field of transportation and consumer electronics industries since it is the lightest alloy which could be industrially applicable. Most Mg alloy components have been fabricated by casting method. However, there have been a lot of research activities on the wrought alloys and their plastic forming process recently. The deformation behavior of an AZ31 Mg alloy at the elevated temperature was examined firstly to find out the optimum plastic forming range in terms of temperature and strain rate. During high temperature deformation, AZ31 alloy is usually undergone the dynamic recrystallization which influence the deformation behavior in turn. In the present study, the effect of deformation on dynamic recrystallization of an AZ31 alloy was investigated to clarify the relation between the deformation and recrystallization. In an AZ31 alloy system, the dynamic recrystallization was found to occur continuously. Recrystallized grain size was dependent on the stress level.

  • Magnesium alloys have many advantages such as a low density, high strength/weight ratio and well recycle. And joining process is absolutely necessary to expand the field of application of magnesium alloy. The main problems of conventional process such as arc welding for magnesium alloy are the inflammability, a tendency toward crack formation and the appearance of porosity during solidification. Laser welding technology is a promising means for overcoming these difficulties. This study is related to the laser weldability of AZ31 magnesium alloy, an all-purpose wrought alloy with good strength and ductility. The effect of welding conditions on the weldability of butt joints was examined. Also, the mechanical properties of butt welded joints were investigated by tensile test and hardness test.

Neuroadaptations Involved in Long-Term Exposure to ADHD Pharmacotherapies: Alterations That Support Dependence Liability of These Medications

  • Repeated administration of addictive drugs causes cellular and molecular changes believed to be the mechanism of pro-addictive behaviors. Neuroadaptations also take place with repeated administration of amphetamine, methylphenidate and atomoxetine, drugs for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD), and it is speculated that these changes may serve as markers to demonstrate the dependence liability of these therapies. In this review, we enumerate the neuroadaptive changes in molecules associated with neuronal signaling and plasticity, as well as neuronal morphology wrought by repeated administration of ADHD medications. We provide the current perspective on the dependence liability of these therapies, and also suggest of some factors that need to be considered in future investigations, so that what is drawn from animal studies would be better consolidated with those known clinically.

Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용한 마그네슘 합금의 겹치기 용접 (Lap Welding of Magnesium Alloy using Nd:YAG Laser)

  • In automotive industry, because of the consideration of fuel economy, lightweight alloys have been adopted and are expected to be extensively used in the future. Magnesium alloys are among the promising materials, due to their lightweight and good mechanical properties. This study is related to the laser weldability of AZ31B magnesium alloy, an all-purpose wrought alloy with good strength and ductility. A 4kW Nd:YAG laser was used to join AZ31B sheet, and the effects of welding parameter on the quality of lap-welded joints were investigated. As a result of this study, the optimal condition was obtained, and the effect of gap distance was also revealed on the porosity control.

  • The rotational barrel type equipment has been designed for the new rheology fabrication process. During the continuous rotation of barrel with a constant temperature, the shear rate is controlled with the rotation speed and rotation time of barrel. The barrel surface can be controlled the temperature by the induction heating and cooling system. Many experiments were widely examined by using this system with controlling the rotation speed and the rotation time. The possibility for the rheoforming process was investigated with microstructural characteristics.

분말컨넥팅로드 단조의 유한 요소 해석 (Finite Element Analysis of P/M Connecting Rod Forging)

  • Sintered P/M connecting rod is forged to increase density and to satisfy dimensional specifications. Flow of the materials is different form that of wrought materials due to pores in the preform. The Mises yield function was modified to. include the first invariant of stress tensor, and the associated flow rule was derived by applying the normality rule to the yield function. Axisymmetric and plane-strain finite element analyes were carried out for the ring and beam portions of the connecting rod, respectively. The flow of the preform and density change of the analysis are presented in this paper. A load-stroke curve was also presented by superimposing analysis results for the ring and beam portions.

  • As the semi-solid forming technology has a lot of advantages compared to the die casting, squeeze casting and hot/cold forging, it has been studied actively. This paper focuses on the thixoforging of the rheological materials fabricated by the spiral mechanical stirring equipment with A356 casting aluminum alloy and A6061 wrought aluminum alloy. Formability tests of rheological materials fabricated by spiral mechanical stirring were carried out and the microstructures of forged sample were observed. After thixoforging experiment, the heat-treated conditions of forged samples are investigated to improve the mechanical properties. These results are able to suggest the possibility of commercialization for rheological materials fabricated by spiral mechanical stirring.
